Do allow yourself time to grieve after such a major loss. Your videos are so inspiring and your personality shines through. Jack can be a great comfort and he is such a beautiful kitty. Take it slow and keep you cooking going - its so enjoyable to watch! Take care.

Everyone grieves differently. It took me 6-12 months before I could talk about my father. I put off grieving, clearly not intentionally, but I wasn't able for it. I did end up sick, along with 2 others of the family, 3 out of 5 of us were in hospital for different reasons about 12-18 months after he died, I think the stress had kicked in. I think if I'd grieved a bit more at the time, it would have been better, but I just couldn't and didn't know any better - Its like telling yourself to relax when stressed, you only do your best. You do what's best for you. Grieving takes months and years. 💗

On pasta shapes, pasta is pasta is pasta basically, the differences are what flour was used and if there’s egg or not, then fresh or dried. The most important thing is just using the right shape for the sauce you want. For example, a meat ragu, you would want to use something like rigatoni cause the texture of rigatoni will hold the sauce better

@@BudgetFoodieUK yeah honestly it’s not nearly as complicated as all the options make it seem. The different flours change the texture and sometimes taste of the pasta, and the egg vs no egg is I believe mostly a matter of the color and protein content and shelf life, and then with fresh vs dried there can be some texture difference but mainly it’s a cooking time difference.

It's such early days following your loss. I lost my Mum (and final living family member, my family was very small) 11 years ago, almost exactly, and it's still hard sometimes. Those of us on our own have to be everything and do everything for ourselves and it can be a lot. Be kind to yourself please. On the cooking front :) I made basil pesto at home inspired by your Italian week -smooshed everything in a food bag as no food processor - and used with roasted mediterranean veggies with balsamic, chicken thighs and a bit of gluten free pasta. Was so good although with the price of EVOO and pine nuts these days I think it's cheaper to buy it in a jar!

Palm oil is fine nutritionally, it is a fruit oil and has a good fatty acid profile (unlike the seed oils), though some worry about environmental factors

Really sorry, you are having a tough time. I tried a couple of other Kallo versions of the stock cubes to the ones you looked at, found them to be very greasy. Would not buy again as I thought they were healthy but they weren’t xx I cube my Parmesan cheese or similar and freeze it, easy to grind when required so stays fresh. I keep the cheese rinds and use them in my risotto. Fishing them out before serving gives added cheeziness. X

As a counsellor, may I suggest that you give yourself grace and 'allow' the grieving process? Running from it and 'keeping busy' is kicking the can down the road. Grief can be an all consuming and 'lonely' journey. Only you knows what resonates best with you, but some suggestions in navigating it are seeing a grief counsellor, journalling, meditation and exercise. Take care of yourself and Jack. My thoughts are with you. x

Rechenda, grate the cheese and then freeze it, it works well from frozen. So pleased you had a good trip to Milano! Please give yourself grace, your grief is still raw. Don’t buy a bistro table for the front - save money and just carry a chair out from inside when needed! I hope you are now better?
