SAILING PLYMOUTH TO MILFORD HAVEN VIA HELFORD RIVER

Episode 18
Rounding the UK - Sailing SV Compromise
A'up you handsome crew
In this episode we experience the carnival atmosphere of the World Cup in Plymouth before taking a 36hr sail around the foot of the UK known as Lands End. We go across the Westerly approaches which is coming from the Atlantic, this section is like a mini Bay of Biscay.
We discover that Milford Haven really is a Haven and we really enjoyed our time there.
You also hear from Hannah & Kyle and see what it was like for them whilst me and Liam was at sea.
(We will be doing an extra video on rounding Portland Bill and Lands end in the future, this video will be aimed at existing sailors).
We have been overwhelmed by the amount of support and subscribers we have even though we haven't had a boat, hope you have really enjoyed our journey of us learning to sail and searching for a boat. We have been super excited to have brought you along with us and to be honest if it wasn't for some of the supportive comments we have had, we could given up, for this we thank you so much.
Hope you enjoy our videos even more now we have our boat.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank Shaun & Barry who volunteered to help bring our new boat home, you guys were amazing!
Cheers
Gav, Hannah, Liam & Kyle x

Guys so good to see you on the water on your own boat. Remember watching u at the start and u phoned for help on the hire boat, understand it is there problem but thought are they ready for the sea? YES you are, great to see a good sail and a night passage👍 as they say when driving one you pass your test you start to learn. Now the learning starts and that trip home must of taught you a lot and you get to know the boat. Looking forward to your next videos 👍👍👍👍👌👍👍

Me and Liam learnt heaps on the journey home which we've since been passing on to Hannah and Kyle 👌🏼 We did know what was wrong with the hire boat on the Norfolk Broads but we paid extra for breakdown cover so we thought we'd use them, plus those boats are quite neglected and run down. You are absolutely right about the learning starts now, we areoving the whole learning process🤗 Thanks for the support you've showed us from day one 😊

I enjoyed that. The misery guts in the Helford was just making a mealy mouthed excuse for asking you to move, you get all sorts. Like Greta Garbo they like to be alone ;-) The best tactic is to say: "OK, I will just ask the Harbourmaster where to move to" This gets them flustered, the Harbourmaster will 9/10 say: "stay where you are" . Keep up the good work. B

Thank you. Thats what we should've done, after all the harbourmaster did tell us to raft up. I imagine it was a shock for them, when they came back to their boat to find another boat moored up to it. The best part was that they were incredibly rude & abrupt and didn't like the fact I wasn't biting back and was calm, it made them feel awkward hehe Thanks for watching Gav

@@OverlandSea it is normal not to raft alongside a smaller boat, though it looks like their boat was heavier, if shorter, than yours. What you should do is attach your line to the mooring buoy (not mooring ball!) in addition to breast lines and springs to the other boat. That way they are not taking your weight on their cleats and they have no argument.
