Welcome to Cactus sailing where we are sailing the uk, and sailing uk waters, This season we’re heading west to the scilly isles but in future we hope to go sailing and travel further to France or Spain.
Our true ambition is to go sailing around the world cruising along the way in our sailing boat, although our boat might not be up to getting to the Mediterranean (for our comfort levels anyway)
To that point we may change the Bavaria 30 in the future for a bluewater sailing yacht or a liveaboard boat which we can live full time.
But for now the English channel is our ocean and sailing the pacific can be left to other sailing yachts like la vagabonde, we will stick to the south coast sailing until we follow in many others footprints.
This sailing vlog and this season you will see our life on board namely boat life in our tiny floating house as we avoid the storms and go off cruising the uk south coast which isnt quite blue water cruising but the tides and winds sure make for a challenging ride!

Hi Kenny & Gang. I hope you're well? I see that you've sold your Bavaria 30 cruiser. What do you have in mind to replace her? Or have you already bought a new boat? We changed our Beneteau Oceanis Clipper 343 for a Bavaria 42 Cruiser, and we absolutely love her. The difference in sailing performance and comfort compared to the Beneteau is phenomenal. We were down your way earlier this year and stayed in Brixham Marina for 6 weeks with our Freedom Berthing. We'll be passing your way again next year, on our way to Plymouth. We're going to sail from Plymouth directly across Biscay to Northern Spain. It would be lovely to hook up with you all on our way down to Plymouth. All the best. Kind regards Daryl & Shirley.

Yeah we have found a boat finally - not an easy task in the current market but we're really happy with it so watch this space! im hoping everything calms down a bit next year as i really want to sail to the CI and northern France, but yeah if you're around hopefully we will see you about!
If you want a real luxury marina experience, hop across to Cherbourg and stay in Port Chantereyne. You'll be blown away, and it's a fair bit cheaper than any UK south coast marina. For a true budget experience, turn right instead of left the next time you go into Torquay and tie up on the council pontoons. Toilets and showers are adequate and clean (no three-ply, though, and they're outside the pontoon gates), but you'll only pay two pounds per metre per night, with the fourth night free :)
