Sail to Summit! Unforgettable Journey from Sea to Sky Sailing in a Remote Fjord BC Canada A&JSailing

Looking down at the sea below, our little sailboat⛵️ is a tiny speck, barely visible from the 2100m mountain from which we stand...We sailed 70 nautical miles into the remote reaches of one of BC's most magnificent coastal fjords - Princess Louisa Inlet (Swiwelát) - gazing at glaciers from the deck of our boat for the first time!
From Sea to SKY! This episode we leave our sailboat at sea level and climb for hours up Sun Peak, to gaze at our boat from a glacier! We discover what the cruising guides don't tell you - what lies beyond Princess Louisa Inlet (quite literally) took our breath away✨

WHO WE ARE
We are a couple from opposite sides of the world living an adventure based-alternative lifestyle here in the Pacific Northwest.
Our time is spent split between land & sea - living part time in our tiny home on wheels (a vintage Airstream that we converted completely ourselves) as well as living aboard our tiny home with sails ( a Catalina 30 that we've been restoring while teaching ourselves how to sail!).

OUR STORY
• First Step Towards Mak...
I (Allison, the Newfie) met James (the Aussie) while working on a remote island 3 years ago.
A decade working in healthcare has helped us both to appreciate the preciousness of this one beautiful life we've been given.
Viewing TIME as our most valuable gift, we've been feeling an urgency in our lives to Live All Out!
We decided to make some BOLD moves, hit PAUSE on our conventional careers & work full time, turning our DREAMS into reality.
The past 12 months we have been working towards making full-time adventure possible. The first step was downsizing and minimizing our lives to fit into a 160ft. Airstream trailer which we converted completely ourselves without any experience.
Living full time in our tiny home on wheels created the financial freedom we needed to take the next big step, buying our sailboat!
She's another big project, but we're ready for another challenge. And we're pretty motivated by all the amazing ocean adventures
that lie ahead!

Fantastic video! Princess Louisa is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. My brother and I cruised up into the inlet 15 years ago. You captured the magic of the place wonderfully. My only mild criticism is that you had only a couple of passing shots of James Bruce Falls, the one that starts over 2700 feet up and bounces down the mountainside and ends up pouring into the Inlet at Chatterbox Falls. Bruce Falls is the highest measured waterfall in North America, and the ninth tallest in the world. When we were there we took the kayaks along the shoreline and discovered that there were hundreds, probably thousands, of little waterfalls coming down the rocks and between the trees, some of them just little trickles, some of them larger, 30, 40, 50, 100, 200 feet high. In the afternoon when the sun has heated the rocks, the water coming down the smaller ones is as warm as bathwater. Erle Stanley Gardner, who was an avid gunkholer, said he thought it was the most beautiful place in the world, and he wrote, "Princess Louisa isn't an inlet, it's a cathedral." He was absolutely right. I'll never forget that boat trip.

Really glad you have such amazing memories experiencing this place for yourself! It's difficult to capture the full beauty and epic-ness of this place! We'd love to come back for a sail-to-ski someday! Funny while we were there we wrote a song and one of the lyrics was "Princess Louisa, nature's cathedral" shared sentiment for sure

@@AllisonandJamesSailing Yes, the video frame doesn't convey the scale of the place. If you zoom back to try to capture the whole height of the mountains you just end up making them look smaller, while in person they loom above you and take your breath away. The drone shots capture it much better, but even so, seeing it in person is so much more astounding. Drones weren't available when we were there, in 2006 or so, and the government dock was about ⅓ the size it looks in your video. There weren't any mooring buoys at that time, we had to anchor and stern tie to a ring pounded into the rock face with a piton. We, like you, re-read The Curve of Time and located some of the places Cappy Blanchett mentioned in the book. Alas, now that I'm 74 and don't own a boat myself it's vanishingly unlikely I'll ever get back there, but I still have 2+ hours of low-res (Super-8) video of that trip (now digitized), and I re-watch it now and then to return there virtually. We anchored in the Harmony Islands the afternoon before going up Jervis Inlet to get to Malibu Rapids. There happened to be a luminescent algae bloom when we were there, and I remember staying up late and watching the glimmers of the wavelets on the surface of the water and the deeper flickers of light as the fish disturbed the water below. Then - it must have been a sizeable salmon going after a smaller fish - a huge trail of light zoomed below me, 15 feet long, like a comet, that slowly faded. Magical. Only to be surpassed by the majesty of Princess Louisa the next day....
