Are they in the same category though? Like I think there are other coins that have real world use cases and I wouldn't refer to them as shit. But I also think that cars have real world use cases and don't refer to them as shit. I just wouldn't put cars in the same category as Bitcoin. Just as I wouldn't put Ethereum in the same category as Bitcoin. Or any other coin I've ever seen.

Saifedean probably just has a no BS personality / tolerance approach to the world. And given his profile in the crypto sector it’s understandable considering the amount of scams that he’s been pitched left, right, and centre. However when you play on the defensive or offensive consistently enough you naturally have a knee jerk dismissal of everything that’s not aligned with your existing perspective and that’s not a good thing.

He wants bitcoin to effect politics but politics cant effect bitcoin? This guy live on the same planet?

I happen to be familiar with the economics of the theorists from whom Ammous has learned his econ and monetary econ---Mises and Rothbard. And I can tell you Mises and Rothbard were incredibly well educated, and worldclass intellects, both. Without question. Each spent much, much time learning things OTHER than econ, in addition to being EXPERT in the history of economic thought, economics, and monetary theory. More likely a majority of skeptics with valid counter arguments to his beliefs. By eliminating conflicting opinions it skew the weight of true sentiment. In response to the subject of pump and dump schemes. My comment was in reference to the entire asset market spectrum. I did not specially state that this guest was involved with such practices. My real world experiences in investing over several decades has allowed me the opportunity to witness markets influenced and overheated with wild expectations fueled by innovations and burgeoning technologies that have limited practical use or widespread acceptance. In this current social media driven environment where such platforms can grossly manipulate and influence populations with overzealous and perceived experts. In reality the latency in many technologies can be many decades. Current examples would be EVs , VR , and genetic modifications. These tech dreams fill everyday media sources but they share very little market share or overall acceptance. Looks good on paper but long term difficult challenges when compared to current models. I am not here to persuade or dissuade anyone’s investment goals Only to express my opinion based on actual experience and insights. With respect to crypto currency’s near term fate I would focus on China. This country became the largest trading partner in the world. It currently outlaws cryptocurrency transactions. I would study El Salvador’s financial shape after its adaptation to BTC. Also governments extensive oversight into deceptive alt coin development which we just witnessed the effects on entire market after Terra. Also heavy scrutiny for tax evasion for 2021 abysmal declines in BTC. Governments like a positive tax base like in 2020. Red flags for 2021.

I shield myself by having few friends with whom I share the same interests and views. I live in a bubble by not being on social media because its brings out the worst in already toxic people. Being a maximilst means you have a standard by which you live. Shitcoiners don't have standards. They jump from one project to the next looking for the next money grab. It's the equivalent to scrolling through instgram and just liking everything and claiming you're open minded when it's actually a complete lack of mind.

Production companies attempt to cash in on a franchise or fictional universe by making a movie, but then ruin the thing that makes the source material great by adding to much to it in a way that doesn’t work. When the fandom criticize this, they are called “toxic”, its just a damage control word to debase the credibility of the critics. It's not 2013 anymore guys. A lot of blockchain projects have nothing to do with Bitcoin, don't try to ride its wave. ETH, AVAX and SOL for example don't try to be money or gold, they are computers that make commitments with different decentralisation and performance trade-off. This view is myopic and ridiculous in 2022.

If you want countries to fully adopt crypto, they need to have full control and knowledge of those who hold it and use it in their economies.

Lex is definitely the friend I would want in this group of 2 . Elon just tweeted that even Doge coin would make a good currency. And Doge coin is obviously a copy. Saifedean has a bit of a Do Kwon vibe

Nah Saifedeans the guy that would call Do Kwon a shitcoin creator without hesitation and get bombarded with hate tweets for it, just to be proven right. Saif is definitely a bit of an asshole, but if you listen to him, you can't help but notice potentially fatal security issues in nearly all altcoins when compared to Bitcoin. Security issues that would be much simpler and cheaper to exploit. Do Kwon's LUNA/UST being the perfect example. He might be an asshole, but I can guarantee he's at least mostly right, as someone who focused primarily on chasing altcoins for a year straight before focusing on Bitcoin. I spent a lot of time reading on how these different blockchains and crypto's operate, and most are terrifyingly easy to corrupt, all you gotta do is compromise the team of developers. The "voting" is often just a suggestion, as I've seen many implement updates without calling for a vote, even when the update is controversial among investors.

For good reason… a token isn’t needed for 98% of the ones issued beside enriching the issuers… aka a security that is putting investor in risk… yes they should have the option to invest regardless but lying about the truth is unethical. He’s not closed minded at all… we believe in bitcoin for the base layer protocol and that it has no leaders… something all the other try to claim to be “ decentralized “ when they’re built on lies.

@@quantumgelato4787 That is a very big IF. Especially since it is the first time Bitcoin faces a real debt deflation process. Alas, debt bubbles are what fuel speculative bubbles in financial assets: the excess liquidity flows into financial instruments. But once the liquidity disappears the money flows into safer investments. Bitcoin is extremely volatile, which is the opposite of a definition of "store of value".

Given the many benefits bitcoin has provided for people in third-world countries, there's nothing wrong with bitcoin maximalists being forthright about the ethics of bitcoin.
