    The EU (and US) think themselves indispensible to the rest of the world, and that being cut off from them is a punishment. That is no longer the case. And if Russia is one giant gas station (as they so derisively say), then the West is just a trustfund kid living off his parent's credit cards. We produce very little of worth here any more, only odious ideologies.

    Germany has not been a sovereign state since May 1945 when the US teamed up with the UK and the Bolshiviks to murder millions of Germans in a war that should have been fought without the UK and France because, reading through the 3rd Reich's speeches and documents, the mid century Germans did not care about France and the UK unless they were forced to by the versailles treaty insane geopolitical shambles. I've concluded that the reason for the Versailles treaty was to "democratize" the entire central and eastern Europe from becoming powerful. The reason why is democracy is the easiest form of government to "hack", IE pull in politicians by buying them out or blackmailing them, to do the UK's and France bidding. That is why you had Poland acting so belligerent to the mid century Germans in the Danzig negotiations under the pretext of the mid century Germans taking over Czech but this was spun as Poland didn't gain territory over Munich. The fact is the War Guarantees that Chamberlain gave, dying of cancer and doped up, were instrumental in setting up the next war. How was it accomplished? By buying off the Polish politicians with many ending up in the baltic states to meet their demise when Stalin forced his way in.

    I continue being amazed by people voting for current EU/US governments. They are essentially saying "We like the world we live in, give us more of the same". That means they like the wars, growing international tension and hostilities, continuous impoverishment of the population, deteriorating security, stagnation/recession of economies, etc. One could almost say "we deserve this".

  • @davidrichaidson3269

    @davidrichaidson3269

    Ай бұрын

    Er !! Stop and think!! Tis not that the population's of Europe endless wars, low standards of living etc as you opine, rather, in Europe is the " fear" of the population's by the political class!! European politicians led in the main by Germany after the war, wanted to set themselves as an economic powerhouse, a " bloc," as it were between the he US and Russia!! The other countries that formed the first 12 countries joined up not for international dream, rather, in the case of the former colonial countries as a method to hold on to their former colonies and continue to extract resources on the cheap, but as members of a large power that is able to crush any dissent by these colonies!! Internally this " power" was sold to the electorate of how they each have maintained their former powers, and more importantly, the need to maintain that power as their " colonies" needed guidance and protection in developing their countries on the road to democracy and modernization!! The truth was however, on the case of the UK their status as an " imperial power" died in 1956 on the banks of the Suez canal in a war with Egypt!! This was never, has never been explained to UK citizens, instead, successive Governments have always sought to hype up international issues as threats, or the need for British influence on whatever region!! One fascinating example of how this " war mentality" exploited by the political class , for shoring up political support for a failed Government was the Falklands war against Argentina!! Ok!!both sides faced the exact same political problem, only the British were just much more adept of the " salesmanship" of the conflict internationally and domestically!! Today, the British media still sell this as the most glorious time in British politics, when " Tommy" - the British army as a whole- gave the Argentines a " bloody nose"!! The public have no say in these shenanigans by the political class, simply every year they are told of the might of Europe with the cooperation of EU countries in building this modern warship, aircraft, tank, etc, etc, and how these " machines" are like no other on the planet, given the technologies the (White) European countries possess!! What has happened however, is the political class in Europe have failed disastrously!! The economic miracle of the EU has failed, the expansion of the EU as a buffer to other States has failed, and today, all that is left to the political class is the manufacture of " fear" real and imagined!! The war in Ukraine, has laid bare the fallacy by Europe being able to defend it's " adventures" abroad, the fallacy of their technological prowess in the face of Russia and China, and a growing Middle East!! It's not clear where Europe goes from here, except to 2025 when most of not all the present Western leaders will be swept aside politically, except that is here in the UK as the present " opposition" is bereft of any idea of politics even at the most mundane level!! Harsh!! But true!!

    Wagenknecht and Weidel are by far the best politicians in Germany! One left wing, the other right wing but both a great alternative to the insane current idocracy...

    After all these years Alex Mercouris still can't pronounce the name of the AFD 😂😂😂 On a more serious note I think Alex senior is overestimating the popularity of the CDU and CSU for the upcoming EU elections in June. The biggest party will probably be the AFD with 22% - 22.5% closely followed by the CDU/CSU with 20.5% - 22%. The third largest party is likely to be the Greens with 15% (+- 0.5%) closely followed by the SPD with an abysmal 14.5% (+- 0.5%). Wagenknecht will perform very well with 9% (give or take 0.5%) and will be the surprise performer but so will the FDP that will get a surprisingly high 6.5% (+- 0.3%). Die Linke is still alive and kicking with 3.8% (+- 0.2%). Germans tend to vote for more "adventerous" parties in EU elections so expect the FW (free voters), Animal protection (animal rights) party, ecological, volt and some fringe/protest parties to do relatively well. The polls are wrong about the AFD because they consistently predict it will get only 1 in 4 votes in East Germany when in fact it is the party to benefit the most from the fragmentation of the left and is set to get 1 in 3 East German votes.

    Germany has started to wake up to what is going on with the two parties you've named AfD and Sara Wagenknecht's new party, but the only hope is that Thelma and Louise parties have the German greens in the boot.
