During the Brexit debate here in the UK, those of us who wanted to Remain kept trying to tell people that the EU was more than a simple trade organisation, that it had peace and co-operation at its heart. I no longer consider the EU to have those values - they didn't survive their first real brush with reality. The EU was to be the calm, rational centre, not interested in war, but in diplomacy, and trade. When it decided it was just another tool of the hegemons, and pushed the idea that Ukraine was a suitable nation to join, after denying it to Turkey for decades (Turkey was MUCH less corrupt than Ukraine, and did not have an active civil war within its borders), it lost its credibility. After 2014, the EU should have been sending observers and diplomats into Donbass, trying to get the internal tensions reduced, and cooling down any border issues. Instead they just treated the Ukrainian-speakers as 'white' and the Russian speakers, and the Russians, as 'other'. They have destroyed their own economies, just to show to the USA how willing they are to drop all their values.

I went to Turkey in 93, as a very naive tourist and the hospitality I received was wonderful. I think it was because I was European and Turkey really wanted to be part of Europe. The European flag was everywhere. I still think they would be hospitable people, because that is who they are. I felt completely safe walking through Istanbul at night. In Interlaken Switzerland, where it is almost idyllic, two guys came out of nowhere with guns and were shooting. I thought it was a joke but there was a bullet hole in the window behind me and one through the bank window across the street. Maybe I was lucky in Istanbul and unfortunate to witness an event in Switzerland that you would hardly expect. Don't get me wrong, the Swiss I got to know became like family, in fact I nearly married one. No one caught the gun men at the time. I was brought up in Belfast so the gun thing wasn't really a major issue to me, but the contrast between idyllic Interlaken with a field in the middle of the town with cow bells clanging and the bang bangs, was the shock.

You're just falling for another scam... There is no real anti-war sentiment in the West. Western anti-war movements only appear when wars are going badly. When they avoid punishment for their crimes but face setbacks (hey, we're anti-war, we're righteous, so we shouldn't be punished), they happily start the next war, with those 'anti-war' people fervently supporting it at the outset. The fundamental Western logic is about exploiting opportunities: when the power belongs to the West, they prioritize power; when the power doesn't belong to the West, they use rules to defend their position. For instance, when the land doesn't belong to the West, they can seize others' land at will. Once all valuable land is controlled by the West, territorial occupation becomes illegal. It's not because occupying land is immoral, but because the West doesn't want its already seized land to be taken away. This is what they call values and rules.

Germany has alliance with Austria, Germany mobilises. France has alliance with Russia. Germany already planned for this by defeating France 1st then attacking Russia. So Germany attacks France, but for tactical reasons does this through Belgium. Britain has defence treaty with Belgium, so Britain joins war. Jingoist colonials in Oz, Canada & NZ, etc, join in. Britain & France convinces Italy to join in to gain frontier lands. Britain convinces Japan & Australia to take German colonial possessions in Asia & the Pacific. Eventually German sub sinks American ship in British waters. Anglophile lobby in US drags US into war. All because a Austrian was shot by a Serb due to the alliance system. They're talking about manufacturing consent. What Europe and the collective West needs to do is deeply reflect on its identity and so called values. Let's be clear...the collective West is really just W. Europe/Anglo America settler colonizer states who've written the history to create an image of themselves as "the good guys" "superior". The US is the most powerful European settler colonizer. They're struggling with the fact of the curtain being pulled back and the global majority seeing the West's pathologies and hypocrisy in plain sight. The global majority is prying itself from under the boot of the West; allying in different ways in their self interest to gain some sense of liberation and peace. What is "legal" in the face of a country that suffered 27M deaths in it's most recent attack from the W. Europeans. What can't exist what really needs to be analyzed is the legitimacy of "international law" ESPECIALLY in the face of several genocides in plain sight and with impunity; Russia's history, the entire history of "the war on terror", neocolonialism particularly in Africa and a volatile often destabilized LATAM, the entire construct of the paradigm of the UN defined by colonial powers to preserve Western hegemony.

When the land belonged to the Native Americans, Mayans, Maoris, or Hausa people, seizing it was legal. When the land belongs to the Anglo-Saxons, seizing it becomes illegal. This is the so-called rules-based international order.

Thank you for noting Finland here as well. Yes our old leaders were very good in that regard until Koivisto left the presidency. Ahtisaari was still great but then we have been going downwards and I am appalled about the current state of discussion, diplomacy and geopolitical understanding our media and goverment shows. We are nothing more than a US vassal state now. Propaganda and "my way or the high way" diplomacy in everything. No actual thinking allowed or you are a putins puppets or whatever other evil you can be.

Dr Diesen's commentary was incredibly insightful (I just subbed) But I had to post that I like Dr Lottaz' essential humanity which frequently shines through. He makes a point and finishes it with "I'm not sure there's a question in what I just said". I guess sometimes the massive impacts of these subjects are overwhelming.

To be a modern politician you have to be a lying scoundrel to begin with. Normal ppl instinctively stay away from politics. That doesn't mean that they stay pure, 80% of ppl are spiritually corrupted by education, MSM, culture, social media and woke businesses. Ppl mindlessly believe the lies and the propaganda. But as long as some know the truth there is hope for humanity. The challenges are enormous, with AI technology and 5G the authorities can spy on us and almost read our thoughts. With CBDC (digital money centrally controlled) they can take away all your money in a sec if you displease them.

What I'd like to know is why Google has a comment section. The artificial intelligence censorship is cutting any discussions with fellow viewers...UNLESS it's sanctioned by googles thought police. Sanctions don't work. Cast your mind back to the oil sanctions imposed on Japan leading up to world war two.... Not many people know that...
