If you bite yourself, tongue or cheek, it usually takes a few days to heal because it swells up and you keep biting it. If you brush your teeth with sage oil/tincture in your homemade toothpaste, you will say ouch when you bite yourself and that will be the last that you are aware of it. If you don't use it daily as in toothpaste, simply make tea or use some tincture in water to rinse your mouth well.... and swallow it. It works on all the organs between mouth and anus.

Just wondering, would macerating or crushing the herbs release more of what you're trying to extract from the herb you're using? (Or might that release something in the leaves you don't want to be extracted? ) Thanks for your videos, you're a wonderful teacher! JC, from OK.

Great question! Sometimes I massage leaves for the fermentation process, which allows to break the plant on the cellular level and release important micronutrients. Please look up my video about Fermented Stinning nettle tea. Other times, if I am just drying or making a tincture I do not massage or manipulate the plant materials, allowing water or alcohol to do it's job.

If you can't use alcohol, you can make a tea using the herb in hot water, let it steep a few minutes. You can also use vinegar in the same way the alcohol is used, it will make an infused vinegar.

Interesting information on tinctures. From what I read, dried is better because none of the water (from fresh herbs) gets in it and weakens the preserving effects of the alcohol. I never heard to rehydrate dried before adding alcohol. I just do the same with the dried, as you do with fresh. 🤷🏼‍♀️

You are confusing proof and percent of alcohol. 100 proof is 50 percent. For the tincture you said 1:2 with 95 PERCENT alcohol and then you proceeded to use 100 proof/50 percent alcohol. Major difference. 95 percent alcohol is hard to find in many states. Everclear brand vodka is 95 percent.
