@JD If you can get the bone to heal naturally then yeah it'll be tougher to break afterwards. Sometimes the break is absolutely devastating though and can't be set without hardware and in those cases you're unlikely to be stronger after.

Those humerus fractures are no joke. I hope this poses no threat to his continued growth, both physically and in the sport of arm wrestling But for real Devon regardless of whether or not you had encouraged him to partake, he would have followed you in your footsteps, that's just what boys do, and doubly so with a dad like you

Devon and Jodi have explained that they never ever pressured their kids to follow in their footsteps, and let them do their own thing. Nonetheless all his kids like to armwrestle. I'd imagine he feels more than little guilty anyway though. Would be hard not to.

@David Armstrong You are a very presumptuous person. I imagine much of your conscious thought processes are based on such assumptions, but it's hard to tell from a few comments. Bones can break, regardless of health. Things happen, it's part of being human.

Sorry to hear that Devon, but especially at young age - The body & the bones are extremely resilient & generally speaking heal quickly ! I have 2 daughters, One was very into soccer- had a few minor injuries but broke her arm when she fell off the swing set. My other daughter rides horses competitively & has also broken her arm in a fall, We have been fortunate she’s had several falls and been thrown but only a few injuries. She actually wrecked her 4 wheeler last night- driving too fast and in a hurry- ran through the fence!🤯 She likes speed! Again we were blessed- No injuries- just broken boards to repair & replacement.

This is a great opportunity for a video on recovery routine and also to potentially explain how to address the weaknesses and avoid the same and other types of injuries. I broke my bicep bone (humerus) arm wrestling 20 years ago and the most painful was the recovery exercises and the feelings of embarrassment and shame... never arm wrestled after the injury. After discovering your channel I started training both arms again following your advice and training exercises. Thanks for sharing your experience and making yourself available and open to society. I had the same injury in my childhood, I can guarantee you. My right is ineffably stronger in comparison to left. Never ever had any problem in my life with my right. I believe, that additional inherent strength i feel in my right was solely caused by this accident. Injuries in this age doesn’t stunt any growth in any aspect of development at all, but it would surely reinforce ossification to that region, making it even more denser than ever before. My constant and whole heartedly prayers are with your son for his expedited recovery!

About 10 years ago, night out with friends we were drinking and sparring, and i went a bit too hard. Got a humerus spiral fracture due to improper technique, had surgery and a big plaque screwed in, cast for a month and that was it. Should've done better rehab (tricep still not optimal), but haven't arm wrestled since. I don't know if I simply shouldn't or if i'm safe now. Funny thing is, it didn't hurt at all at any point

Best wishes in your son's recovery. Happened to me when I was younger while arm wrestling, fractured my right humorous, the x-ray looked like a broken branch. I was over the top ready to pin, took a deep breath and went for the pin, and just when I applied that extra force in that instance...snap! Like you mentioned, it had to be positioning because strength was not a factor. It took about a year to heal and about two years for normal strength. My arm feels normal with no pain or strength difference. What helped was strength training (hypertrophy), but just let time be my guide and never rushed. With proper therapy your son will recover. Be safe too Devon we want you to be at your best always.

2 years ago I broke my right arm, trying to break a tree branch with my forearm that I already broke with my leg... when I removed the cast, my right arm was so weak and I had no flexibility. I started searching for rehabilitation and I found grip strength. I got the capitals of crush gripper no.1 and the expand your hand bands for my extensors. Few weeks into the grip community, I found arm wrestling. I picked up the technique and grasped the angles quite quickly so I arm wrestled as many people as I could. I had the arm wrestling flu for 1year and I beat some pretty big guys, and some advanced arm wrestlers even! For me, breaking my arm was a lesson not to do stupid shit, to have fun in the realm of safety and not not to fight a losing battle!
