I'm an American and just went to Medellin a few months ago and loved it. A very beautiful city and the people were very nice. It definitely helps to speak at least some Spanish, or be with somebody that does, but has a modern public transportation system which makes it easy to get around for cheap. Just be smart, and you'll have a great time!

I think Columbia has worked extremely hard to change their country and they are making awesome progress!! Now is the time to support them for their efforts not try to take them down, I think as people we should edify them not discourage them in any way look how far they have come in such a short time. I believe they will be a Great country to visit and live they may still have problems but far from were they were in the 80's

I think you are right. Bogota is a different place now. Just like New York City was a drug fuelled crime ridden place in the 80s, but now it is a totally different place. Centre Park is beautiful. I would love to visit both NYC and Colombia. Colombia would be a good place to improve my Spanish and of course to meet the stunning women.

Hi I just got back from medellin in July and I must say it a very beautiful country. I didn't have any problems when I was there but I did have a good time going to the clubs and restaurants thanks for your info it was very helpful and I will return next year

+Quinn C yeah it is, the women in Colombia are very outgoing and extroverted, some women even approach guys if they find you very interesting (mostly when they're in a group and the one that likes you will send her friend). How's your Spanish?

Have been to Medellin. It was one of the most beautiful places ever visited on the planet. Felt once being robbed but took nothing out of me instead prayed for them, they appreciated. It was common in any places where poverty was an issue incl. South Asia and other parts of Central America. I did not try any drugs incl. 421 (friends did and said was great) but went to Mr. Escobar's cemetery and prayed. The man did obviously wrong but also did some good things to public given lots of supports to the poor but with its temptations led by Satan, which eventually had him faced the severe consequences losing everything incl. family, love, and home. Now the entire city became clean and even safer than some parts of the states. Impressed by children wearing t-shirts with labels saying "education, no drugs." The city has its own prosperity, economic and political agenda, and bright future (already) with nice weather - Spring throughout year. Foods were all great, people were so kind and respectful. Worth a visit, which would make you probably wonder why you have been in hurry all time.

Great information. Its the same in my neighborhood in Long Beach, CA. Dont be stupid and flashy and be respectful and you will be alright and dont wander around the hood at 2am and wonder why you got robbed. hahaha

It's like just about like any other place in the world. If exercise common sense safety and awareness, and keeps your wits about you, you should be fine for the most part.

I have a friend who is half Colombian (other half is Ecuadorian) and he travels back and forth from the US to Colombia. But he usually goes to Bogota and Envigado. Not sure if he's been to Medellín. I've been meaning to visit him on one of his trips to Colombia, its just that the exchange rate isn't as "helpful" as it is in Mexico. :) Thanks for the info. If I go, unless I'm rolling pretty deep I'm probably gonna avoid Medellín.

Well, Envigado is a very close municipality to Medellin, and people whom lives in Envigado also go back and forth to Medellín , hence most of people even from Envigado works and study in Medellin, even our system transportation is desing to communicate the municipalities with people that needs to travel to Medellin everyday like Envigado, Itagui, Sabaneta, etc. How come unless you are probably rolling pretty deep? Medellín is not a city where you need to roll pretty deep in fact if you go to Envigado you must pass by Medellín cause the vias are made to pass over it. And also Medellín is and advance city, even more than the capital Bogotá, so is not like you are getting deep into an inhospit and deep place of Colombia. Anyways i hope that you enjoy if one day you come to Colombia.

Latino Nature lol Well you just did a whole video about being cautious in Medellín, so I wouldn't want to go unless I have a LOT of friends with me (aka "rolling deep"). Safety in numbers. That won't be a problem with my friend, he has a lot of other friends anyway. But yeah a week trip then come back. Fingers crossed for next year.

Yah i did it cause people ask me if it´s safe to come to Medellin and i said it is, just a simple advice helps anyone. If you want to come to Medellín with a lot of people that´s ok too, but if you bring that hudge and cocky attitude you have i doubth that colombian people will want t o share much around you, cause you bring bad vibes. Anyways enjoy your day!!!
