Safely dispose of muriatic acid after cleaning rocks

I needed to clean calcite off of petrified wood, so I bought a gallon of muriatic acid. Unfortunately, it yellowed in the sun and stained my rocks! So now I had useless acid lying around and there's only one way to dispose of it: the fun way. Note: I misspoke in the video, and said "baking powder" when I was clearly using baking SODA. Use baking soda. Thanks to the comments for pointing this out.
Use proper safety equipment and behaviors when working with acids.

It’s baking soda! Soda! Do not use baking powder. It’s not the same thing. Baking soda is what you use.

You're right, I misspoke, it is baking soda as labeled on the box I was using. Thanks for pointing that out. I haven't actually tried baking powder before, but it is ~30% sodium bicarbonate - the same stuff as baking soda - so I imagine it would eventually do the job, you'd just need a lot more of it.

Thank you Patrick, yours is the only video that shows how to safely dispose of muratic acid. I want to clean my shells. I needed to know what to do with it afterwards.

I've been watching muriatic acid lapidary videos for days, and yours is the only one with disposal instructions, thank you for this. Also while watching those videos someone else had similar problems with staining post-treatment. They recommended then soaking it in Iron Out to clean up, but there was before/after on this process so I can't confirm yet.

Entonces esta es la manera de neutralizar este ácido para después poder desecharlo de manera apropiada, right?

I had an entire quartz collection and some other valuables turn this same awful yellow - any tips on how to get the yellow out now? This is a great video, thank you!

Interesting, was it muriatic acid that yellowed it? Unfortunately the precipitate is tougher to remove. If fresh acid didn't do the job, another common option is warm/hot oxalic acid (sold as wood bleach). But hard to armchair solve that kind of problem.

Just by some lye when you buy the acid. Cheap as dirt at most hardware stores and it's much stronger so you don't need anywhere near as much.

I have a question I have a new poured concrete after a week it got discolored spots from the sand used in materials I believe and I’m asking if this acid will help the discoloration go away and turn the concrete to normal grey color

Dilute Muriatic acid is regularly used as a concrete cleaner but I don't know if it would make it gray or overly white. You'd be better off looking at home diy project sites, or testing an inconspicuous spot on your place first. Good luck!

I hate working with muriatic acid. When I was a kid, we had to put it in our swimming pool and sweep the sides... but being a kid, I knew it was dangerous and poured it with my mouth open. The vapors got in my mouth a little and I didn't think twice about it. The next day all my taste buds that were exposed were gone. It was so weird... they actually grew pack within a month maybe... maybe less. It's bad ass stuff.
