When I watched it the first time I was kind of shocked that Jo was actually a ghost.... but after the shock I thought it was sooo beautiful..the whole story is great... Nicholas Sparks is a true talent.... I hope he is writing more stories like this and other he did before.

If you read the book, Jo is almost like Katie’s other personality or the person she goes to when she needs to escape a memory of Kevin (her abusive husband) because after the fire she returns to her place in the woods to find the next door neighbor’s house in ruins as if nobody had lived there for a very long time; as if she made up Jo so as not to be lonely out in the woods by herself.

For anyone who is not understanding the ending, here is the explication : Alex gave Katie a letter written by his dead wife to the next "love of his life", then she realized that alex's wife is actually her friend Jo , that's kinda weird, but actually Jo isn't a real person, she's a "ghost" if you want. She's the spirit of Alex's dead wife who in someways protected them and tried to find a good mother and wife for her children and her husband this is why she couldn't leave at first but now that she's sure that Katie is the perfect woman she can leave and let them live their life. I hope it helped you to understand the ending 😊 if it helped you pls tell me 💋 For me It's a beautiful story, the ending made it much better 😍 Nicholas sparks is a lengend 😍 he has a real talent

Having lived through a parent with cancer, having a best friend who lost her mum and another who lost her dad and hearing them mourn who will do those things with them like Katie for Josh and Lexi. Hits hard doesn't it. A very simplr scene but a heart wrencher! :)

This last scene will be in my heart forever. The letter from Erin was just so amazing and it touched my heart. My grandfather recently received news from his doctor that he's only got a couple months left to live, and I love my grandfather very much. This movie scene gives me the hope that even when the people we love are gone, they are never really gone. It gives me hope that my grandfather will still be watching over me and my family.

I wish all the best for your grandfather!!! Haley, there is no matter they still live with us or not, they will still in every step we take and always on our minds on long journey ahead. So, spending precious time with him and reminds him of the best moments in his lifetime... with smiles and hope. No one knows what happens until it happens. So, be happy and keep hope and faith in life or whatever may happens!

When I watched the whole good movie Safe Haven, I didn't understand the ending. But when I read the ending of the book, I finally realized that Jo was a spirit watching over Katie and that she's the spirit of Alex's wife who passed over. I didn't think the writer would write anything that relates to some spiritualism because some people make fun of it and they shouldn't.

Ever heard of “The Sixth Sense”?

Agreed.. Although I lose it at "The thought of you gives me hope. Hope that Josh finds someone to fish with again, that Lexi has someone to help her on her wedding day.." I was a wreck.. Having lived through a parent with cancer, having a best friend who lost her mum and another who lost her dad and hearing them mourn who will do those things with them like Katie for Josh and Lexi. Hits hard doesn't it. A very simplr scene but a heart wrencher! :)

Okay, I m a guy. I admit that I cried a little when I watched this movie. But, what bothers a little is that, how did she write a letter and give it to her husband? I mean she's dead. Then again it's a movie.

His wife's spirit was with her the entire time, my mom and I saw this in theaters together.😊❤️💗
When I first heard her voice I thought it sounded like Katie's friend and I was really confused but everything literally perfectly fell into pieces! What a stunning film 😊😭❤️ need a man like that and my safe haven!

Amazing movie & an amazing ending ! This movie is by far the most genius movie Nicolas Sparks has ever made !
The end scene of Safe Haven was beautiful and yet spiritual. Jo's spirit came back to act as a guide and good friend to Katie. She watched as this newcomer interacted with her husband and children, Jo encouraged this young woman to confront her fears and to also accept love again.
Then end of the movie is magical , i love love love it .
EVERY SINGLE TIME i watch this scene i got the chills like crazy even though i know whats going to happen lol anyone else?
One of the most beautiful unexpected ending i had ever seen..... Loved it❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ that twist was epic😍😍😍😍😍😍no word to say... My favrt movie ever💕💕💕💕💕💕HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO EVERYONE.........
A rare gem in romantic films in recent times. The 80s, 90s and early 00's were full of romantic films of all times - dramas, comedies etc. Safe Haven is a gem!
"if u are reading this then it's true. he loves u. without a shadow of a doubt.. " 😭💕
Literally the most breathtaking ending. I surely was not expecting that
This movie got me so good. Ugh. The feels!
Jo told Katie to keep taking pictures and capturing memories as she left, Alex kept taking pictures of josh and Lexie at the beach. She must’ve told Alex the same thing when she passed, this movie is so clever
i always cry at this part!! such a good movie!!!
This movie had me crying so hard.. This part just hit me so hard. See my dad passed away when I was a little boy so this movie makes me miss him so much. You know I never cried watching a movie before till this one... It hit home man. From the beginning to end it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. Everyone deserves a second chance and it ended up really good for Katy. See many of us take life for granted and it could end just like that. Life is so short. Have a great and blessed day.
I thought Juliane did a great job for her first role as a leading lady. Great film guaranteed to cause most to tear.
Great scene. Extremely touching. Haley... Keep ur chin up and enjoy this time with him, and he'lll be there.
The ending is soooo touching!!!! I love it sooo much!!!!!
This still gives me chills, one of the best scenes and one of my favorite movies ever
I was in the projecting room when I walked passed and saw this seen. I stood there and watched with tears in my eyes then had to get back to playing the movies. I still cry every time I watch it
If you are here in 2024 👇
I started crying when I heard Jo's voice! And then just lost it bawling when the picture came out. THIS MOVIE =*( so good!
I started this movie randomly because I had nothing to do that day.,., and this last scene gave me goosebumps., absolutely beautiful.
No matter how many times i watch this movie, the ending got me crying my eyes out😭
This scene made me cry alot !
Best scene in the whole movie 😍
so beautiful ...I wish I could live in the place this movie...
I cried so hard! This is a beautiful movie!
I absolutely love this scene, soooo touching. So thankful I found my “Alex”.❤️
Safe Haven is one of the best movies ever. I cried so much, especially at the end. It is beautifully written and the acting is absolutely brilliant

It was funny because watching this i had to go really close to my computer. I needed to make sure i was hearing right and it was Jo talking. I cried at the end.
I normally don't like these kinds of movies but this one was amazing I was crying at the end
The first time I watched this I had a feeling Jo was a ghost. I didn't know for sure though, and when she pulled out the picture I teared up, and when Jo said she hoped she was there somehow watching over them I started crying. Such a good ending ❤
That last shot is incredible!! 🎥🌅
Who is here 2024? Still crying 🥹❤️
This scene makes me cry every time. Brilliant movie.
One of the most inspirational scenes that has touched my heart and soul.
I cried so hard!! It was such a good ending!!! I loved it
Best plot twist in any movie I have ever seen. I was floored when I first saw it, I get it's easy to guess now looking back but oh my god in the moment I was a mess!
Loved this movie and the book even more. While in the hospital my dad bought me this book, I've cherished it ever since.
I just saw this movie and when I saw the ending, I couldn't believe it. I burst into tears. It was a wonderful plot twist :)
Just watched the movie. By the time Jo was in her dream I said right away she’s the deceased wife…she has to be…she’s only around with her and doesn’t speak to the people around them and she’s too pretty just to be a random friend in the story :)
I'm a guy that enjoys good romantic movies...WHAT!
this scene is so beautiful to me and i disagree with anyone that thinks it was a bad ending. Jo being a ghost and the whole husband thing put a great twist on the movie and it was flawless to me. Definitely my favorite movie at the moment. (:
who the fuck is cutting onions
I cry everytime i watch this scene. Most beautiful ending ever. :')
Powerful lines. This is something only a woman can say. One of the most beautiful film I’ve seen. Makes me cry every time, and God I feel so good, can’t explain how warming these lines are. Nicoles Sparks’, your writing is magical.

This is so true to life for personally. I was a blubbering reck after watching this.😂❤
You feel a mother's love and you feel a fire that leaves you burning with exhilaration and love but most of all passion that radiates
I thought it's same normal romantic movies when it's turned the climax oh my god it was really amazing and gives goosebumps and I literally cried yesterday I watched 6 movies none of any movies are not worthy than this really mesmerizing and appreciated to the makers of Safe Haven and thanks ☺️😍😍😍
I've watched this so many times but every single time she discovers that Jo is the mom, MY BODY TINGLES AND MY GOOSEBUMPS JUST COME RUSHING
Jo watches over them... from a damn Helicarrier.
Great scene
When i first read the book i felled in love with it.... N now after watching the movie.... It just makes it so complete i love it.... Very heart touching

when i first heard of this movie the title kinda confused me with the storyline then when i actually watched the movie this scene made everything make sense this is a beautiful movie one of my favs 😊❤
Cant belive today was first time i saw this movie... this is one of the most touching endings to a movie ive seen
everyone's on here like "that ending is so shocking and beautiful" and I'm just over here like, "lucky dude got to have Cobie Smulders AND Julianne Hough"
Most beautiful movie 😍💕
I was soooo shocked on this part. I balled my eyes out. Still cry everytime I watch this scene. 😭❤
That was shocking when I first saw this.
That is cool a pen she used to write the letter..just saying.
i cleaned my external hd not knowing that i didn't have a backup copy of this amazing movie. it had a great plot and the old man in the store and the little kids were great actors. and this is where i discovered amos lee's music. violin was and still is my go to song
When i heard the letter i thought what a cheap production they use her friends voice, hello just because we cant see her that doesnt mean we cant hear her too. Then i understand the beauty of it. Ok buddy maybe not so cheap ;))
Sparks has always had his movies set in such beautiful places especially along the NC/SC coast and Alabama
