The big male lion was limping a bit later in the video. Could be part of the reason why the lions were unsuccessful. That bull buffalo was strong and fit. Well done, big buff!

That was one tough son of a Dagger Boy Buffalo, he looked muscle bulked up strong as and fit to boot. making him a very hard Buffalo to bring down for this pride. Cheers for the beaut reel of film 2011ACVVV.

It just shows how dangerous these buffalo really are - even the whole pride plus Blondie couldn't manage to bring him down. Amazing footage with James and Trish on the vehicles.

This was so incredible watching it LIVE! I was on the very edge of my seat!!! 5:25 Look at Mohawk/Blondie looking straight into the camera! WOW!

After seeing how they move as a unit, I now believe the buffalo run the Safari. Lions had there run in the 90s lol

I would have left 1 lioness as babysitter & u still have 8 left. I'm new to SL but I was a little confused why didn't everyone take a limb or back or ... I know they need to feed 18 in total or 20 with the sub-adult, correct?

@@annfisher8256 they have got a Buffalo 3 days ago in buffelshoek so they were not super hungry or even in hunt mode, that buff just walk into them... And the cubs maybe interfere a little. Plus- that buff fight for his life and fight very well, that was not a calf that was a beast buff.

I guess the bull did not see the cubs as threat. But he made himself a target for the pride. If only he can manage to run away from their hunting area. Thanks 2011ACVVV for sharing. :-)

Could it be the little ones got excited thinking their mommies had already made the kill? Yeah, they must somehow learn self-preservation if they are to stay safe and reach adulthood. Good to see the cubbies are okay in the end. Thanks for this interesting update.

What you're watching is a buffalo in peak conditioning. It's like watching the Dolphins trying to take down Earl Campbell in 1978.

This is like the rodeo here in Texas with the lion taking more than an 8 second ride on the Buffalo’s back.

@blessedchild2 anointed That bull may have children but they are fed by their mothers and do not need him to survive. If you believe in God then you know he made animals to feed other animals, its the circle of life and if you don't believe in God its nature in its natural state.

They had a buffalo kill 2,3 days ago, they where not that hungry, i mean they didnt even hunt, that buffalo walk straight into them,if they where hungray, that buffalo would be dead for sure.

I think when the cubs all ran in is when the lions sort of gave it up. They can't hunt with the cubs underfoot and can't chance the cubs getting run over by a bull buffalo. I've seen other hunts on KZread and cubs can often mess up the hunt. The lions are used to it.

The nkuhumas are experts in hunting buffalo !! I remember this day ... This week, three nkuhumas lionesses, daughters of Birmingham with Nkuhumas lionesses, killed a buffalo

The folks in the video make good sports commentators

Wow! I wasn't even watching live and my heart was pumping! Why was that bull on his own? It looked as though the two males were maybe limping a bit? Just exhaustion? The lionesses near the end, especially the one in the foreground nursing: "all that work, and no dinner, and I STILL have to feed these little beggars!". Thanks for posting.

@@tabithadorcas7763 they appeared with these wounds all of the sudden, it seems like it is a hunt that went wrong. They have certainly healed a lot but they are still limping which is a very sad thing because they have a territory to defend and recently 4 young intruders entered their territory. These are the northern avocas, 3 brothers, 2 of them are wounded. I hope they can heal so they can protect these little cubs

@@Maxibaluco dark mane avoca is doing a great job protecting talamati Pride and their 9 cubs and this 2 Blondie and mohawk its the same... They dont get injured cus they sleep alot or they are lazy.... What u see in safari live is just a little part of their lifes, alot happening that we just dont see and witness. U talk about 4 intruders that coming in but every week everyday there nomadic males come and go from Kruger areas into this little block.

When the cubbies came running in towards the buffalo, I thought of "Charge of the light Brigade" Future buffalo hunters in action. I'm surprised that they didn't keep still. This buffalo may have escaped, but I'm sure those Nkuhuma's will catch his or another's scent very soon.

Can u guys explain to us y buffaloes horns r bend backward bcz I think if they were pointed forward the buffaloes will use them efficiently???

Cape buffalo horns are designed to hook and puncture deep into flesh. They then use their necks to toss whatever is caught on the horns.

this is what happens when one lioness does all the hunting while the rest of the pride did nothing to help

@@karenbartlett1307 I just think she was the alpha female. The others weren't as aggressive. There was another lioness that tried to help her when she was on it's back. I read somewhere that they ate a few days ago. Maybe they weren't really so hungry. I'm sure if they were hungry it would have been a different outcome. That's just my best guess. I'm not totally sure to be honest.

Yes. It's a fence around Galago camp and the lodge. It keeps elephants, buffs and hippos away, but big cats, hyena and antelopes can go inside.

Lil cubs let me show you how is done mom oh wait you trying too hunt the big buffalo never mind.

This doesn't bother me. The lions have to eat. If my family were hungry, I'd hunt, too, if necessary. And nobody is giving these lions kitty food.

I’m not very impressed by the Avoca males. They are a weak coalition of lions as compared to the Birminghams, Matimbas, Majingalanes, Mapogos etc.

Chroma Virus I disagree. The Avocas couldn’t even kick out the young Nkuhuma male from the pride. The young male showed up and the Avocas didn’t even chase him off.
