Once u cremate the body gets dissolved in 5 elements of the earth & ull know that the person is no more but once u bury that place will have strong impact on memory especially mentally weak ppl & children they take much longer time to agree that their dear ones are no more when they pass through that burial place they may get disturbed & now more ever with growing population in metropolitan cities where the burial places occupies major land in city & how does it feels when a school,homes are getting constructed around that place?? I feel it's the stink that forced our ancestors to choose between burial or cremation. Think of it there were so many dead animals during ancient times who were neither buried nor cremated and our ancestors had to live with it. But a for a human, the ancient burial might not be what it is today, it might just have been throwing some dirt, wood and leaves to ward of foul smell as they did not have tools to dig six feet under. And then they found fire cleanses everything including foul smell( fire making has been known to the ancestors of homo sapiens even), hence the cremation started, which was good, gone in 3 to 4 hours of burning and the remnants thrown in near by river bank and every thing was squeaky clean. The burial was definitely not the kind of burial now like digging six feet under etc...as they did not have the tools to bury them. But that said burial might have been older than cremation. Both have the origins to just ward of diseases and bad smell as the human bodies emitted unbearable foul smell far higher than dead animals, which might also have lead to keeping the grave yards far away from neighborhood. Then came the religious practices which have been eternally fighting what is better.

This time I don't agree with sudguru.

I don't have to search anywhere else".

In my opinion best way is to bury for the reasons he stated as to why people did it in the past. Our body has the same DNA as many things in our solar system (including stars, soil, etc).so it is going back to where we came from and the earth is making use of it. I am Hindu and I don't like my cultural tradition of cremation, but also Islamist/christian burial tradition, because cremation makes dead body useless which is supposed to work as food for other living being, and burial grab place in form of graves, so in my view our dead body should be either left in sea for aqua habitat or either it should be thrown in jungle or on mountain, or buried it without making graves on it. That's how other animals dead bodies are decomposed, and I think that's how nature wants to use our dead bodies. About dharmic rituals or psychology behind this cremation, I don't think we have any difference than animals in anything, we all living being have life, death, feelings, emotions, then how could they can get away with peaceful death without any post death ritual, we humans has made all these rituals to make further difference from natural process of deadbody. Every being dead body is worked as either food or contribute in making any natural resources like petrol, etc. These are not meant to just burning and waste it like that.

Its doesn't matter how you cremate finally it is disintegrating with the nature itself. And the ritual part it's not just for the diseased but for the family to cope with their feelings by understanding. Please don't burn the dead bodies....I still feel burning is a horrible thing to do to a dead body..... especially your LOVED ones 💞 We hate the idea of getting burn when we are alive so how can we agree to burn when someone is dead???? I myself is from a Hindu brahmin family & my parents were devout blind followers of Hinduism & disciples of renowned religious organizations in Bengal.They were so superstitious & like most Indians held strong belief in astrology(the evil daughter of astronomy). They used to visit one or several astrologers every month!! If one astrological prediction failed then they would visit another astrologer on the advice of my sister who is another mad person believing in such superstitious rituals! I dont agree with him!! At least I faced the same situation when both my parents died & i was grieving so much but then they were burnt at that moment.. burial is a more sane process .. thats why both Christians & Muslims adopted it!! I still cant forget & it comes back to me as a nightmare!! I feel as if both of them were burnt alive & they had still life in them when they were being burnt!!

The beliefs of Abrahamic religions teaches about heaven and hell. Heaven and hell doesn't make sense to me but reincarnation makes sense to me. Reincarnation makes sense to some and doesn't make sense to some. The only thing in the afterlife I believe in reincarnation. Energy cannot be created or destroyed it can only be transferred, energy doesn't stay in one place or cease to exist. Everything in nature and the universe goes in cycles.

Payback for being a Hindu is much much less than being a Christian or Muslim , this is what I feel being born a Hindu that too as a Brahmin Hindu. Brahmin males no more enjoys the privileges that they enjoyed in ancient times! In fact we are treated as a General Category & most doctors , engineers or persons getting job in various "good" or high posts are from the BC class! In fact even after spending huge amount of my father's money on various IT courses & global certifications from Cisco & SAP & then getting blamed by parents, kins & relatives for not being able to make a career or even manage to get a job & remaining unemployed even at this age of 40 , this is the plight of brahmins like me! I have been doing IT courses for the last 20 years in India & still no center gave me a job even after passing CCNA with high score & no cheating from NIIT , then SAP SD certification this is my plight in a country like "India". Had I been born abroad like in Europe or America I would have surely got a job even at age 50! I just hate this country & religion

Burial is better and seriously hindus must adopt it too. They can use saffron clothe. Burial is best for environment, cheap,no trees are cut for wood. No air pollution or global warming. It fact helps to reduce carbon emissions. Minerals from body are returned back to soil from where it came,thus keep the balance of minerals and allowing soil to grow more trees.

Why is everyone in the comments saying cremation is against nature, nature is boring I prefer technology over nature, technology cures diseases including cancer and aids and Coronavirus and nature causes them. Nature causes natural disasters and destroy homes and lives, I hate nature, nature destroyed my home during a tornado 🌪️. Treehuggers love to worship nature, nature is like an abusive mother who abuses it's children and kills them in the end, time to rule over and subdue over nature, nature is a threat to modern technology, there's no hospitals in Nature but in modern society, nature can't cure diseases or send man to the moon. Cremation is a better option, it kills diseases and deadly germs. Antibiotics and vaccines, Chemotherapy wouldn't exist if man didn't conquer nature. Nature is a cruel malevolent force it wants it's victims to be eaten or become recycled atoms in the end, it wants us to reincarnate over and over again in a cycle of pain and suffering, nature killed my grandmother with cancer, nature destroyed my life, and why are you guys romanticizing a cruel malevolent force that wants us to be dead and reused again? Graveyards can easily grow a lot of trees, can fertilize soil fast. We are not even talking about the smoke that is produced during cremation. Killing animals once a year to feed the poor and unprivileged is your problem. Say something about Holi on wasting water and Deewali on air and noise pollution if you are fair. Also keep on thinking of either burning or stop printing of Quran - No matter what Quran will be safe (Its a promise of my Lord - and now digital copies are also available). Also compare of stopping the printing of Quran (one book) vs. many books of other religions. You know you are being communal here and out of substance to blindly justify

Coming to khazana, it is buried only in 'Arabian Knights' stories, otherwise - khazana is meant for people's use, not for burying!

In Hinduism the soul can't be touched, can't be harmed. So the reverse is true too. There is no interaction between the soul and the living beings. So we can do nothing to the soul and the soul can do nothing to us. And burning releases the soul instantly. So your point isn't valid.

We give fire at the head, not mouth. And burning naked bodies is not a compulsion. For eg, my family doesn't do it. Those who do are the ones who believe that Humans must go as they have come.

It’s closing the chapter of the relative of the dead but it’s a beginning of real chapter for the dead, even you burn the Body Allah will raise the dead again and every one is answerable for their deeda

No actually after death soul goes to Yamalok where he is judged for his sins and then the soul unless it has completed his cycles of birth and dead, will take birth according to their actions. For instance if you slaughter animals in name of festival (like one backward community still does it even in this 21st century), you will born as that animal again and again till you have fully paid for your sins, then the soul gets moksha or liberation.

Burning dead body is Never better than burying, because Burning caused 1. sever Environmental pollution 2. Expensive 3. Nations are not getting Petroleum, Gas, Coal; because each burying dead body contributing on an average 70 Kg Petroleum, Gas, Coal to our Nation.

Burying is better for enivornment and minerals of body return to soil from which it came originally from. Burial is very cheap no wood is needed.

@Ranger People Didn't Even Find Place & Proper Woods To Burn Themselves. That Was Because Of Improper Handling & System , Not Because Of Burying. The Point Is , Which Form Of Last Rites Is Ecological & Better , Which Is Undoubtedly Burying & There Are Enough Reasons For It Scientifically Backed & Not Just Backed By Belief System.

Nature causes natural disasters and destroy homes and lives, I hate nature, nature destroyed my home during a tornado 🌪️. Treehuggers love to worship nature, nature is like an abusive mother who abuses it's children and kills them in the end, time to rule over and subdue over nature, nature is a threat to modern technology, there's no hospitals in Nature but in modern society, nature can't cure diseases or send man to the moon. Cremation is a better option, it kills diseases and deadly germs. Antibiotics and vaccines, Chemotherapy wouldn't exist if man didn't conquer nature. Nature is a cruel malevolent force it wants it's victims to be eaten or become recycled atoms in the end, it wants us to reincarnate over and over again in a cycle of pain and suffering, nature killed my grandmother with cancer, nature destroyed my life, and why are you guys romanticizing a cruel malevolent force that wants us to be dead and reused again? If nature is our mother then she's the worst mother ever. I'm forever ungrateful for nature for allowing me to be born in Alabama instead of Tennessee. I'm going to get cremated and have my ashes scattered in the Pigeon River.

When you're buried your body fluids will leach into the groundwater, do you whether let your loved one's body fluids leach into the groundwater making everyone sick or let their body fluids evaporate during cremation?

My daughter died in front of us and for all practical reasons she was no more,she was then taken from the hospital room to the ICU where the doctor who had operated upon her refused to give up kept on giving the electric shocks the HOD who was present told the doctor to stop as my daughter was no more ,but the doctor still kept on giving the electric shocks and in one of the shocks my daughter came back ,and my daughter remembers her after death experience ,and today almost six years have passed since that incident
