Sadhguru - Don’t try to resist compulsive Thoughts and Emotions, Just Observe !

What you need to understand is - thought is agile. emotions are not that agile, they cannot turn around so quickly, it’s little sappy.
-when compulsive thoughts and emotions come, first and foremost thing that you do is, you simply see them for what they are.
-You don’t try to resist them. The moment you resist, they will multiply.
-thought and emotion are just a recycle of the data that is already there, something that you remember.
-practice to create a little distance
-Your fear, your anger all these are products of a mind which you have not taken charge of.
-Your mind is capable of producing joy, fear, anxiety, turmoil, tranquility, agony, ecstasy it can produce anything.

@@ganeshdube One simple meditation to reduce negative thoughts can transform your life. . Just sit comfortably on the ground or on a chair, close your eyes and do nothing, do not move, be still and observe your breathing and body sensations for at least 10-15 minutes. What is important is to be as still as possible. Early morning is a good time. The best part is that you can do it anytime you want. Make meditation a daily habit and enjoy life. Best wishes. I had heard something a similar or a similar technique . It says take your obsessive thoughts and put them in a box . Then mentally picture yourself carrying this box to a train station ..walk on the train ...place the box on the seat . Get off the train ...now mentally picture yourself watching the train pull out of the station as it takes the box far away in the distance ... gotta admit ..I like the traffic jam anology or staring at the problem from high overhead. 👍

@J W i may be incorrect but something along the lines of the connections our brain makes is based on compiling data you cant compile data by subtraction or division the mind only adds and multiply information and the brain responds to the data so much so it affects our emotions and behavior so rather than restrict it which makes it more rampant, let it run its course and run on out the way so it wont compound. So basically we cant subtract or divide data and make ourselves feel better but we can create a stalemate by not resisting and they wont increase.

Dr. Arpita kar Don’t feel that way about it. Sometimes, before when we were about to step into trouble, we wouldn’t have taken advice, and it would have made it worse. Now you have some distance from your involvement in whatever situation, and it looks like it was nothing and you could have just let it be. Now that there is some clarity, this comes to you and you understand in a completely different way.

This idea of observation acceptance is so precise. I have read the power of now, I have read the untethered soul, I have read inner engineering. The common denominator of the suffering is that you are not your thoughts are not your perception, be an observer of your thoughts, which means you have to do the work to be checked in to be aware and have a heightened level of meta cognition. Think about what you’re thinking.

Your emotions mainly come from your lower 3 energy centers (chakras). If you focus on them you can liberate yourself from bondage and create higher frequencies in your brain. This is also why forgiveness is so important and why holding onto burdens/grudges will destroy you. The reason they will destroy you is because it’s unnecessary energy being stuck there and needs to be released. Once it’s released you will no longer be victim to those certain situations that fired you up in the first place. Letting going of the situation that created it in the first place won’t allow your body to capture those emotions/energies and therefore liberate you as well. Stay heart centered and remember what’s more important. God bless😇

@@elinmansson5535 Stop overthinking about the situation that’s how. Because remember that thought is highly connected to emotion, and vice versa as well. For example, If you know that being alone makes you miss someone more, then try to go out more/do more activities that you enjoy etc. The less time that you have to think and ponder about certain memories, The less likely you’re able to add and multiply emotions from it. And for the rest of the memories that tend to slip out even after you’ve had time to do something you enjoyed, then the icing on the cake could just be to just do what Sadguru says and just apply distance from it like the traffic jam example. You can combine these methods if needed but if you’re a newbie at this and you haven’t quite mastered being able to apply distance then naturally create distance by involving your self in other things that don’t require too much free time to think about certain memories. Sometimes that distance could just be removing yourself from a situation that does not benefit nor please you.

the message is clear and loud and a correct one. one flaw is right at the beginning. you said emotions are not so agile, they don't move as fast as thoughts. the word emotion suggests otherwise. the root is motion, constant change. that is why love is not an emotion, not even a feeling. emotion means "at motion", the element is water, always moving, even changing its form (solid, liquid, gassy). thoughts are fire creatures, so yes, they pop up faster, but they tend to linger longer, depending on how much fuel and air they have. another flaw is: for some people emotions come first, for some thoughts come first. no. emotions always come first. why? they are old, the mind is young. they are deep, the mind is superficial. no matter how "brainy" you think you are, emotions and their children - feelings will always be the boss. unless you are the boss.
