Sad Classic Forgotten Southern Farm House w/ General Store Built in 1890 in Alabama
Ойын-сауық
This historic house was built in late 1800’s for a modestly wealthy successful family of farmers. The farm originally had sharecroppers cabins dotting the fields all around but most have since collapsed. They grew all kinds of crops from cotton to sweet potatoes. While also selling and harvesting the timber on there land. The house would remain in the same family for nearly a century. Sadly in the early 1990’s the house was forgotten mostly because of its rural location and the expensive amount of updates and repairs needed. Sadly this old beauty is just slowly fading away. Glad I could document this neat old house on a very rainy gloomy day. Thanks for watching! Like and leave a comment on the video if you enjoyed!

This house is so beautiful! I don’t understand why someone does not restore it. That kind of house would be a dream home for me.

it seems a sin to let such a beautiful old house go to ruin. I love this house.

How refreshing to visit a house that has not been vandalized. The wallpaper in the second room that you visited resembled the wallpaper in my grandparents living room; it brought back memories. Lots of interesting detail, too much too list. Thanks for another great explore, although I feel guilty sitting in my comfortable house while Kappy is out in the cold and rain.

@@urbanexploringwithkappy1773 Awesome! Looking forward to it. Thanks for the videos ♡
This old girl was built for function not for "fortune". But the beauty is in it's simplicity. The old screen door was lovely! The corner built-ins, transom over doors. She's lovely in her own right. Guess as the family grew up, then "modern" times came along and the old places like this one just faded into the background. Another great video Mr Kappy! Thanks for taking me along!

I love that style of farmhouse, beautiful old home.
Love these old houses ,never get tired of looking at them ,such a shame they are all getting traded in for cookie cutters now ,ones that take a couple days to throw up ,these kind of homes are like homes I grew up in ,the bedrooms are so big ,thanks for taking time to document them ,they are going fast now

Oh to sit on the upstairs porch & listen to the Rain 😊
What an elegant old house, nothing fancy but very nicely laid out. The doors, windows and porches are charming. I can imagine it full of life in its heyday. That kitchen, in particular, was a busy place. It doesn't seem that far gone, someone could fix it up still. It wouldn't be cheap but dump $50k or so into it and you have a grand old mansion to call your own. Nice place, deserving of your kind attention, Kappy.
I like the little sink when you first come in the men can wash their hands after being outside working.
Such a beautiful house! I love the greenish bluish paint!! I see that color in alot of the old houses! Thank you for sharing!❤
I think the handle hanging down was to assist someone in getting out of bed or a chair , I noticed vinyl gloves in that back room, likely the last resident was elderly . Love those doors & that vintage screen door! Beautiful old place!

Such a beautiful home. It breaks my heart to see these old homes welt away. My grandmother had a house that would be close to 200 yrs old now. I always loved it. But now its falling down and the person who owns it won't let me go in.😢
Thank you, this was a very nice old home...really enjoyed the filming, the huge tree was awesome.
I could imagine myself sitting in that parlor with a glowing fireplace and a giant flatscreen on the wall to watch Urban Exploring With Kappy!😂 Great find!

Another grand old lady. Oh the stories it tells if it could talk.
Beautiful house!! Looks like it could be saved!!! The rope hanging down in the first room was to help someone sit up in bed….. I imagine it was an elderly person that couldn’t get up the stairs anymore their bed was probably there close to the heat source and accessible to kitchen and bathroom…. Sad that the family didn’t move in when they passed or maybe they didn’t have any….. I wish I was rich lol I would love to live there!! Did you notice what that smaller house was? Maybe they had a little store or workshop (?)….. absolutely love your videos Kappy Thank you for sharing them with us!!!!

LOVE the front door and transom but is it weird that the corner sinks are my favorite? They’re such an efficient use of space. More houses should use them.
What a fun explore. Some parts of the house looked a bit older than 1890, like the mantles and French doors. Very interesting !

What a beautiful old gal. It would be great to see this restored, as the damage seems to be minimal considering it's age and the last time it was lived in.

If I could build a little fire in the fireplace, have a nice thick quilt, and a small pillow, I could take a nap on the floor listening to the rain ❤
Awesome this house has lots of potential for restoration
Thanks Kappy for showing this awesome farm house its beautiful. I just want to sit on the back porch and enjoy the view. Can imagine how beautiful this house was in its day.
If I only had money, boy oh boy, would restore the one General store also,so many things you could do with it. I wish someone would buy it and restore it.
Oh my ,what a beauty,If love to live there The large rooms, fireplaces, wall papers,,foors, and windows, and always the porches.Love these homes ,this could be livable,I hope it gets fixed up,so much more character than new houses.👍❤️🇺🇸
I absolutely love the screen door. My grandfathers family had a place in Virginia on the Chesapeake bay that was built in the 1800’s. They had those screen doors. I wish we still had that house in my family. 😢
Loved this house, so unusual! It seemed massive downstairs but not so big upstairs. I really liked the assortment of doors.
This is one of the most charming houses you have featured, IMHO. It has so many beautiful features such as the many windows, the porches, the side lights and transoms around the main door and 2nd floor porch door, the balcony and porches. It's a shame that there was no one to save it.
Another beautiful old house. Love the wrap around porch. It would be wonderful to have the money to restore it. Thanks for the great tour :o)

Very sad ! Great home ! The thing that really stood out for me and thought was unusual was the little doors that led into the kitchen (never saw that before). This would be a definite restore for me and make it grand once again ….doesnt look like there was much work that needs to be done other than the formal dining room (?). The little sinks throughout the house is another unusual thing . Thank you Kappy ❤

Hi Kappy! I like the woodwork in this house and all the different types of windows and doors. The little sink in the upstairs bedroom is like one that was an upstairs bedroom in the house I grew up in. The house was built in the early 1900’s and owned by a doctor. The room with the sink was a patient’s room, I believe.
Remarkable great condition, lots of love and blessings to all whom dwelled there.
This home is beautiful. You can tell the homeowner put a lot of work into keeping this home nice. I would love to see this one restored. I bet the General Store was nice also

That upstairs bathroom had a main line pipe running ceiling to floor, kinda like there was a toilet in the attic or something. Kinda odd i thought. thanks for another great one!!
Fabulous little find. I'd have loved to meet the people who designed this gem. That one fireplace was great. Thanks for the tour.
What a great old house 🏚. Very well made. I hope that someone will live in this house 🏠. Thanks for sharing 👍
Part I loved is people really gave a dam about street maintenance if a square of sidewalk got cracked or uprooted by nature it took them at least a week to get it fixed because it took at least 3 to 4 days to mail out all the invites or summons to the town meetings to everyone who lived on the street, you wanted to make sure you invited everyone or that sidewalk wasn't getting fixed especially when the square was in front of mr X's house and he had to know to go out his back door for a few days well the cement dried.
😮😎😎😎🎉Thanks Kappy!!

What a neat house! I love all the different doors and that tiny balcony upstairs. It must have been a beauty in its day.
What a sweet old house🥰
Love those curtains actually the design on them. I look for that stuff in the thrift stores. Beautiful house. Have a great day
Another great find Kappy. I sincerely hope that you document all of your adventures with still photographs as you go. The view between :28-:32.....call the frame shop! The hard wood around the back windows was beautiful as well. Safe travels!
The song Rainy Day in GA comes to mind. ^his house is still solid and could be renovated by someone young and strong. I've seen houses in much worse shape brought back to beauty and life. It's not by a busy road and seems to have a lovely but wild lot. It's being wasted.
Foos storage area....pantry Lovelovelove this sweet home.
I love that house
Another fine old house.
Wow beautiful house it's shame and sad 😔
Alabama holy crap that's like an 11 hour drive from here geeeeeezz..nice old house tho I like the old sun deck back then..and I just love the old claw foot tubs..holy crap an old lowery fun maker organ wow thoes are a bit hard to find now a days good learning organ for kids glad you showed that..I love the older organs and that's so cool I like them curtains too you showed with the floral blue and brown nice 👍🏻
The "swing" you saw reminds me of a handle I've seen for an elderly person to pull themselves up from a chair
After all he's seen during his explores, Kappy must be immune to the truly gross....i couldn't believe it when he grasped the doorknob through all that gunk! I couldn't look at it. Apart from that, this was a grand historic house. Loved the sink in the master bedroom!

wowwwwwww kappy what a beautiful house u rock bud beautiful i love old plantation houses ive seeeen alot of them when i travel down south iu plan to do some old cemeteries since i love taking pics of the head stones i have a lot of civil war cemeteries around here
my thought is it was added on to a couple of times. The door downstairs by the little corner sink looks like it was the original front door .. exactly the same door as the Juliet porch. And I could be wrong .. Thanks for the tour!

I’m sure you are right! Old places like this always get updates and remodels over the years as the family grows and more modern luxuries are available! Like running water at a sink or electricity! Thank you for watching!! :)
With a lovely old house like this, in such a beautiful location, I can never help wondering, why? How could it possibly be just left? It must have been highly saleable and valuable at that time. Boy! I'd love to know. Thank for the experience Kappy.
Charming home 💕
how many pianos and organs just rotting away in all the houses you go through. Sad. All the old furniture and beautiful architecture too.
Great house! I'm willing to bet that if that organ was plugged in it would work. My parents had the gold curtains in the living room and the walls were painted that same "mint green" color. Mint green was common in the 1960's. I never liked that color, lol! My parents still had the gold drapes until they passed away... None of my siblings liked them 🤠 Great video Kappy, thanks for another great adventure 🤠👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
