Sacramento Mile - Kenny Roberts Actual TZ750 Yamaha 2 Stroker Ride!!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The owner of the very same TZ750 4 cylinder 2-stroke that Kenny Roberts rode - he brought the terrible 2-stroke out to show today's fans what that bike was all about! Thank you kind sir for the experience. I was high up in the grand stands and you could actually smell the burnt 2 stroke oil! AMazinG.

No one could ride it like King Kenny!
I watched him at Sears point! From last in the 3rd heat to first in 2 laps!
I counted roughly 46 seconds to complete the hot lap on this mile track. That’s about a 78 mph average speed for this exhibition done primarily to entertain the crowd with the thrilling sights and sounds of this legendary machine. 😃

What a outstanding motorcycle.
i was there in 1975,can never get that sound out of my head, which is a wonderful thing
I saw Rick Hocking ride one of these at Ascot. He was 5th off the line and at the start of the back straight he opened it up and wheelied Past the other riders to take the lead. #13.

Rick Hocking, King of Fremont! I so remember watching him there. I raced on the same track but never with him. He could have whipped me on a tricycle.

RIP Rick Hocking
At least the announcer had the good grace to shut up [briefly] while the TZ screamed up the front straight.
I recently read a very cool Interview with Kenny .. Yamaha did not want to build a competative Flat Trck Bike .. The TZ-750 was the idea of some one at Champion Frames.. They built the frames and put TZ-750's in them .. They should have used TZ-500's would have been more managable and could still smoke the Harleys ..
That monster would wear the rear tire to its chords before the end of a race....King Kenny's quote....They don't pay me enough to ride that thing! I believe after winning the Indianapolis Mile race with it.....

In an interview after riding at the Indy mile in 2009 he said " It really wasn't that bad". I'm guessing it had proper tires this time. As I recall, in 1975 Kenny couldn't get dirt track tires that would work on the TZ750 and rode on roadracig slicks with hand cut tread
Wish there were more of these bikes around. With today's technology they would be a real force at the miles.

michael Scott the AMA banned them because they made all the Harley’s look absolutely slow.

If you've ever ridden a high performance two stroke a 500 single two stroke is about all mortal people can ride on a dirt track. Yeah I know you're all legends..........

@@redtobertshateshandles I know I’m late but agreed. This bike is basically a 750cc drag banshee…. I saw him run in Pomona, CA in my late teens. Can’t remember the year but he did this exhibition. Really awesome piece of history!

@@robbiddlecombe8392 I believe the quote was, "They can't pay me enough to ride that thing", yet he did, and held it together.....
I miss that track , last time I was on it was in the 1970’s…
I still have a magazine, I think it was Cycle Magazine, with Kenny and testing of this bike.
I love singles, v twins and two strokes. My friend had an early Yamaha IT175D, which was basically a 6 speed YZ125 bored to 175. That and the Kawasaki KDX175 would do an indicated 140 km/h. They were impressive for their size. The TZ750 is a water-cooled 4 cylinder high performance two stroke. That's four of those 175cc in one engine.
That sounds like I would need ear plugs AND ear muffs for that rocket ship.
THE MAN and THE MACHINE!
Powerful bike.
I was there, it would of been awesome if the announcer would of shut up.
That Sound !
Still hauling the mail the Ledgend in his element and what a Machine to throw a leg over
What a beauty!
Pretty sad when the exhibition laps are faster than the race laps... That's not to say the race laps aren't quick, but a TZ 750 is a whole new (old) ballgame...:) I sure the smell of caster bean oil in the morning...

In the early 1970s we used to go to the Astrodome to watch the flat track races. Can you imagine the sound of all of that indoors? It was amazing! All the greats..Mert Lawill, Dave Aldana, Gene Romero, Dick Mann , Cal Rayborne, Kenny Roberts. Etc
The Yamaha had double the Horse Power of a Harley Davidson XR-750
Announcers seem to want to hear themselves more than anything.
That's a really fast motorcycle. AMA what should we do?...AMA~ Ban it
こんなイベント有ったのか❗見たかった❗
Wow
Definitely a TZ700/750 but I highly doubt it is the KR scooter from 1975...that is sitting in a Yamaha museum.
