Yamaha TZ 750 on board at Cadwell park

Turn up the volly and sit back as we go onboard the Minnovation TZ 750 at Cadwell park, It was my first time on a TZ 750 so I was taking it easy. Hopefully, you can see how it was wheelieing all over the place! what a machine and hats off to those guys who used to race them back in the day

Deep joy and happy memories 🙂🏁 Back in the 80’s I had a Rickman CR1000 and a GT750 kettle…….. the kettle was ported heavily, jetted, geared…… with an Applebee crank and Allspeeds 😊. Not a patch on a TZ but lively and tuneful……. A chap called Nick Foot(?) had a similarly altered GT kettle and we used to make music along the Epping New Road to the splendid High Beech - Epping……. The point to this nostalgic ramble, we used to ride with a chap called Rob Green(?) on a barely Road legalised TZ750, needless to say we couldn’t catch him……… and another chap with a Moto Martin Venom, which I recall had stickers on the fairing saying it achieved 163mph at MIRA 🙂🇬🇧 By far the most trick at that time was a mates Sanders & Lewis GT750, with Dymags and a three into one…….. sounded a lot quicker than it actually was, stock engine and three into one wasn’t optimum………. Great to see and hear the TZ 🏁

By modern standards the TZ 750 isn't fast at all. Lots of power for the day and very light weight, but had a flexy frame, crap suspension, brakes and tires. This combination was what made the TZ so legendary and scary. I remember seeing footage of Roberts on one and the entire bike was wallowing and wiggling coming out of the corner.

That's way more than enough of the arse-camera mate! Completely obscures the view ahead and the gauges (which is the whole point of an on-board camera) and obliterates the sense of speed and position on the road. Arse cameras should only be used by proctologists.
