    Wow, that's weird! I normally expect high quality blades from Darkwood. Well, flaws in the steel happen... I'm sure they'll replace it for free. Always nice to see you experiment with so many different weapons by the way.

    No, Skal! It's the inherently magical lightsaber qualities of the katana! 😜 I suppose a sturdier blade is needed for this. Maybe that line of Kveton blunt sabers that Matt Easton is always promoting?

    @@SirConto it depends on the quality of the blade. FIE approved blades generally last around 6 months to a year, and costs around 140 USD. Cheap ones, depending on how much you parry, can last a low of one month, but it only costs around 30 USD. You can only use FIE approved blades for international competitions tho.

    As a former saber as well (not olympic) I would also like to add that we do not use full swings like that on a sword that parries. The olympic sabers are made for contact mostly and do not account for heavy parries. A saber that is more akin to a polish saber will probably be better for a real sword fight.

    As an Spanish fencer of rapier and saber I have to dissagree. The dueling saber is a very good obtiene to do this, specially because the katana is also a dueling sword. The Polish saber, as you said, is for cavalery, for war, is not designed for dueling, dispait you can duel with it.

    I might suggest a Kvetun Easton Mk. 3 Saber. It's a military style saber with a much beefier blade, a lot better for doing mixed weapons stuff. I used one in the Open Steel event at IceBreaker 2022 and it stood up well to shields and longswords.

    I believe the saber was Darkwood's Italian Dueling saber. It's a fine weapon as far as it goes, but it's a light-bladed saber designed for dueling against a similar-style weapon. it's not meant for any kind of heavy combat against even other style sabers like the polish military saber. They have a heavier, more military grade blade available that would be far more appropriate. Castille has several saber models available as well, which I personally have used very often against longswords for years, and they stand up very well.

    British or Polish military sabre should be able to fare better, I think. That type of sword, if I remember right, is more so for duels rather than battlefields, a more fitting sword would be one of the battlefield sabres, especially cavalry sabres, those things can be tough.

  • @18ps3anos

    @18ps3anos

    Жыл бұрын

    Yeah, but a cavalry sabre wouldn't be safe for sparring unless the user has loads of control. Certainly, any military sabre would be better than a duelist sabre, but I think either the weapon took a beating previous to this or it had a construction defect. The sabre broke on its own cut against a static parry.

There doesn't seem to be any agreement or even knowledge of H.E.M.A broadswords or a true Eastern Europe Saber ! Im in shock because i came to learn the Rapier but most have no idea of it ? What country 🇪🇸 yes Spain and cannot find fencing or even reasonable equipment . As for this video 🤔 what a shocker !! Katana wins again 💪 As much as i adore Tàijíquán and the Jian 🗡️ my experience with the Katana or multiple katanas x2/x4 will always hold the Katana design as the most useful.
