========= We Burn LYRICS ==========
I’ve had a vision it’s clear to me now
I know what has to be done
Different religions cannot share a land
A plague and I have the cure
Chase them down, let them suffer in pain
Dig them down, they´ll be gone for a while
Evidence lost
We burn
Plunder and rape
Show them no mercy, just burn
Flesh turn to ash
Inspired by deeds that were done long ago
I know what has to be done
Filth of my land must be washed clean and pure
Now let the cleansing begin
Genocide?
Who will drag me to court?
There´s no crime if you do not get caught
I am the law. We burn
Privates, sergeants and generals hear
It’s our chance we’ve been waiting too long
Your orders are: to start to burn
========= Historic Fact ==========
The Srebrenica Massacre began on July 11, 1995. Over 8,000 Bosniak Muslim males between the ages of 12 and 77 were captured and brutally executed. This song was written from the perspective of Radovan Karadzic, the former President of The Republika Srpska, head of the Serbian Democratic Party and commander of the Bosnian Serb Army, from 1991-1995.

Babe, wake up, Sabaton posted a banger once again
here it is, glad they gave one of their darker songs a good shiny new music video
"Inspired by deeds that were done long ago" is, if it does indeed mean what I think it means, the most chilling line (in my personal opinion) of the song.

There are so many possibilities here, the Crusades, the Ottoman Empire’s wars against Europe, aftermath of the Balkan Wars where millions of Muslims were expelled from Serbia, Greece and Bulgaria, 2nd World War, where the Croatians and Bosniaks sided with the Nazis and took genocide to such a level of brutality that even the Nazis thought it went too far.
I think one of the most unsettling things about this song is that the guy who ordered the genocide, whose perspective this song is from, *is still alive.* Rotting in jail for his crimes, thank god.

Sabaton, this song means the world to me as my father was in Dutchbat 1 and i still have some pictures of Bosnia and Srebrenica, and truth be told, they all knew the enclave would fall, the only TOW anti tank weapon we had was literally held together by duct tape after every shot, all of our ammo for our single mortar was bad canadian ammo that we weren't allowed to use, and our YPR IFVs only had 50 cals mounted to them instead of the usual chaingun / autocannon, whatever you'd like to call it. Apologies if my english or storytelling isn't the best, but i just thought i'd share some of that. And to anyone who does read this, thank you and have a wonderful day.

What does your father say about what happened there? Does his storytelling reflect the mainstream narrative or does it reflect various theories? Insight from someone outside the Balkans that actually was there is always interesting
@kknub4766
Ай бұрын
@@alfamuzjaksakitomiznadpros5182 Well, I don't know exactly how to word everything at once so ask about something you'd like to know specifically. But his storytelling doesn't follow the mainstream that much, atleast not if you mean the mainstream narrative from the Netherlands. However, he does say that everything that happened there (the collapse of the enclave) was known to the men since day one, due to the strong adventage the serb forces had. My dad also often shares stories of how they would get shot at on the daily, by RPGs, small arms, etc. though i'd have to ask him about that again sometime soon. Also how they were told to dig up sandbags with dust and other waste when they were cleaning up some old factories (cokeplant, and a old battery factory), as it turns out both of these were 4 different kinds of toxic chemicals that they were exposed to on the daily, and it'd literally go everywhere, the black dust literally going inside of the nose, everything.

@@user-et7gc9bl8z The case was met with a flood of nationalist and anti-Albanian statements in the Serbian press. This was, in itself, a significant development. The Yugoslav government had for many years made open nationalism a taboo subject, and Yugoslav media outlets had previously systematically downplayed ethnonationalism. The collapse of this taboo in the coverage of the Martinović case heralded the growth of nationalism that was to lead to the country's collapse in 1991.

The biggest blemish on the banner of the Dutch Armed Forces.. but despite the horror I think the resistance and consequent deaths of the Dutchbat battalions would've done little to change the outcome. We didn't have the arms nor the support to stop the fall of Srebrenica.

@kosrce57 well the point was that UN will control that area and whole area should be without arms at least that wa agreement with Serbian military, Serbian military can not go in that area but bosnians have to be unarmed so bosnians should not own arms because UN will protect them, but that wasn't the chase they were armed and attacked multiple times serbian villages around Srebrenica so after size fire it was ordered, i think because of the political reason that Srebrenica must fall and another problem will be also resolve with a huge whole in Serbian defence, so after taking over serbs decided that they are going to let go only women and children but all men of age are guilty of crimes against serbs whether they committed them or not, also one of the reason was if we let them go tomorrow we will have to fight them, so they killed them all or most of them but only men i think were killed i m not 100% sure if that is accurate the moment assault started bonsinas tried to run away, which is one of the reason why Dutch commander refused to fight, while trying to breach serbian assault many died because they were only armed with small amount of weapons and lightly, some did escape majority were killed or caught and the remaining man were killed after they were caught, women and children were transported with buses while serbian commanders promised that nobody will touch them, but they killed all their male relatives you will hear and read a thousands wersions of this event and many of them are 20-70% accurate, everybody say it from their perspective, and doesn't learn about other side of the story/ crime / genocide depends on the laws you apply and side you ask
