The whistling at the beginning is an ode to his time as a western movie star. His son thanked Sabaton for making a song about his father that was not country and western. One of the tanks Sabaton use as a drum riser in live shows is named "Audie." Murphy won the Medal of Honor for his actions as a platoon leader in France during WW2. His company was advancing when they were attacked by a superior German force. he ordered his men back into defensive positions while stayed in a forward position calling in artillery. When German infantry started to overrun his position, he climbed onto a burning tank and used the 50-caliber machine gun to fight off the enemy. Even though severely wounded, he continued to fight and call-in artillery until the Germans withdrew. he refused medical attention until he knew his company was safe. The war footage you see in the video is from a movie called "To Hell and Back" It's about Audie Murphy and he stars in it (he became an actor in the 1960's) so that footage you see is of the real Audie Murphy. Also the song is based on a poem written by Murphy called "Crosses Grow on Anzio". Tragically he died in a plane crash.

Audie Murphy is one of several soldier returning back from war that is the inspiration for Davis Morrell's book First blood's protagonists Rambo. The character got his name from a French merchant names Rimbaud and the apple Rambo. The apple got its name from Peter Gunnarsson Ramberg (later Rambo). Ramberg was a name he taken from the place Ramberget in Gothenburg. Peter Gunnarsson Rambo is one of the very first settlers to New Sweden in the lower reaches of the Delaware river.

great song to pick by the way man great but I want to talk real quick about the PTSD aspect in American society a lot of soldiers do get help the thing is is we lost 300,000 soldiers in world war II in 4 years we lost like 5,000 give or take in the past 20 years dealing with the whole stuff over there more people live because of modern surgical and prosthetic and physical therapy so that's why we have so many people with PTSD but also you can't help people who don't seek help either like we don't disregard our veterans in this country honestly and obviously and I'm not arguing or disagreeing or telling you you're wrong or anything by the way and yes we could do better and honestly sabaton should be the only music people listen to to know history and honestly sabaton should be like more popular than these stupid pop bands we have in this country

I'm a Texan and I did not know this story even though I knew who he was.

Murphy apparently had a love for spaghetti westerns hence the music in the start. For a country with such a large military and will to fight (no offence intended) its strange they dont teach you the downsides of it all.
