OMG! So, so lucky.
I heard 1.6 million people, but the estimates do vary. Lars (the drummer) is Danish, hence the Danish flag.

Might be, i had heard somewhere 1.8, but i lowballed it so it is correct anyway ^^

I read somewhere that they stopped counting at 1.6 million. No one knows how many attended 😅
This was a "Monsters of Rock" concert (free). They stopped counting at 1.6 million but by the time AC/DC and Pantera came out they estimated closer to 2 million. It was held at an airfield so there's plenty of room. The military was security!! 🤘🤘🤘🎶🎼🎼🎵🎸🎹🥁🎧🎤🎙🤘🤘🤘

Metallica is an American heavy metal band. The band was formed in 1981 in San Francisco.. This was thrown together by Time Warner. Free concert .. Pantera, AC/DC and The Black Crowes ECT. people called this the final nail in the coffin for the USSR.
This concert was attended by people from all over the country and from nearby countries! The most epic concert since the fall of the Iron Curtain.
How does a DUDE OF YOUR AGE NOT KNOW THIS SONG?!?
The stopped counting at 1.6 mil it’s estimated during this song there was 2+mil and by the end of their set it’s was 2.2mil
I was there in 1991. Just got back to my car now

That was the first Major Western Music Koncert after the fall of the iron curtain. THEY ALL SHOWED UP JUST FOR METALLICA! And this was for them maybe the biggest ever, but just one of many concerts.

This gives me chills each time I watch it... 👍🤘
The concert was actually played on an air field. "Tushino airfield" to be precise. That's why so many people fit in there
There were over one and a half million people there in this concert. It is the largest rock concert attendance of alltime.
This was the Monsters of Rock Festival. So there were more bands (AC/DC included). Estimates vary on crowd size, but totals range from 700k-1.6 million throughout. Either way, it is a remarkable crowd. I enjoy seeing people react to Metallica, because it is cool to see them slowly catch on to WHY Metallica is such a revered band. I've been to several Metallica shows over the years and they are phenomenal live. Great reaction, Sir! PS: Lars Ulrich, the drummer, is Danish.
This festival was held at a military airport. That's why you see the military and helicopter. I've read several comments stating 53 people died.
I love the beginning where they all come out surveying the crowd. They loved it. True artists.
Yep, it’s overwhelmingly cool and legendary. Good review 👍
In Russia, always love Metallica!
This was the 1991 Monsters of Rock concert for which admission was free. It also featured other bands like AC/DC, Motley Crue, the Black Crowes, and Queensryche.
"Holy f**k that's a lot of people." So awesome! 🙂❤
There's a Danish band called Volbeat that opens for Metallica quite often. I highly recommend them. I'd love to see you review their song "For Evigt". The drummer for Metallica, Lars, really liked their sound and they became friends. I enjoyed your review
The choppers were there for crowd coverage and they flew low to provide air flow so people wouldn't overheat and suffocate
Over 3 days, there were over 1.2 Million People there. There are entire festivals that never get that much attendance.
OMG OMG....I would LOVE to see you do a reaction to "Popular Monster" by Falling in Reverse! 😍 I need new ones lol. I loved you Pentatonix reactions, FIR is pretty different, I think you'd be amazed 🥰
1.6 million just metallica concert
Great reaction! Looking at your previous vids, I would suggest Home Free "Man of Constant Sorrow", and Pantera "I'm Broken". I think you will enjoy both immensely. Skol!
It was more than the population of Detroit Michigan in the 1990s. Source, I survived Detroit in the 1990s😂😂😂 The helicopters were to circulate air otherwise the crowd might suffocate on top of the 50-ish people that died during the shows. May god rest their beautiful souls they gave their lives for the chance of freedom.
Berlin Wall. Just them!!!🥳👏👏🇺🇸
Metallica's drummer, Lars Ulrich, has Danish roots. He was born there. Probably why the Danish flag was behind the drumset
In Metallica, the drummer is from Denmark (Lars Ulrich R) and he is proud of it 👍👍
Miss to Metallica ❤👍👍👍
This concert was a bomb going off and it went out of control There we’re about 50 deaths or so….you find documentary on KZread: monsters of rock 1991.
1.6 Million People.
1.6 million people in attendance. 50 unfortunately died. I'm actually surprised that number wasn't much higher.
I love Metallica this one of the best concert footage. And they are American made
This was the first rock concert in the Soviet Union. There were several big name bands. My understanding is it was held at an Air Force Base. The helicopters were flown low, because it was very hot, and the helicopter backwash were like big fans. Metallica and metal fans, please correct anything I've said in error. And who were the other bands?
The chopper was for oxygen to breathe. Many died!!
My recommendation is Creeping Death/Metallica/Same concert/You'll LOVE it!! xo
I do recommend Living Colour "Love Rears Its Ugly Head"
The chopper was there to cool the people.
The helicopters were for air conditioning 😂🤘🏻🔊💯‼️
The helicopter was to cool down the crowd. Military A/C!
Metallica is one of the most palatable metal bands, a great place to start that journey. This song is about being ushered into sleep by the Sandman, and not knowing what kind of dreams you may live that night. In this case, the terror of nightmares. The next song they do at this performance is "Creeping Death" and it is amazing. A song about the life of Moses in the section of Exodus in the Bible. The Creeping Death is the plague inflicted on the Egyptians, also known as the Angel of Death.
This concert was epic history! Military, helicopters, 1.6 million people -- a veritable sea of humanity. If the citizens had heard American music before, it was likely on bootlegged tapes.
The chopper creates a down draft which helps cool 1.6 million people !
Danish flag on the drumset is because Metallica's drummer, Lars Ulrich, was born in Denmark
U have to react to GOAT, Playing God or Ego Death by Polyphia. U have to!!!
i just got back to my car
Just like a teacher. Will the Russian crowed understand what the lyrics mean? I'm a retired teacher, 13 years in Compton Ca, yes that city, A good many of my students didn't understand English. I would think that they were into the music. It's 1991 and the wall had come down and this was their exposure to American rock.
51 ppl died....the helicopters were there to cool down the crowd..air conditioning. 1.6 million ppl in an air field.
Any Metallica song is a good listen. However if you don't mind looking at vocal-less covers I strongly recommend you watch Tina S -For the love of God- Steve Vai cover. She was 17 at the time and did the cover so well the original guitar player (one of the best who ever did it) congratulated her for how incredible she did on one of his most advanced songs. Well worth the listen.
Scorpions were the headliner. Many other bands played as well.
1.6 million people done at a large military Airfield. Crowd is biggest ever.
Please listen to can't help falling in love by Diana Ankudinova she is amazing and beautiful young lady with a contralto voice
🤘👍👍🤘ed
Lars Ulrich, the drummer is Danish that why there was a Danish flag.
Shortly after Berlin Wall fell.
This reactor looks exactly like a young Eric Clapton. Oh SH*T !!!
Only Lars Ulrich (drummer) is Danish. The rest are orig from CA USA
I didn't know that Metallica was left handed... 🤘😛
Lars the drummer is Danish. ❤️
There from America bro. Obviously. 1.6 million people were there
i have the feeling i know you from somewhere else on youtube 🤔
Lars is Danish
Try pantera same concert much better domination
1.6 million people jumping, i bet there was an earthquake from it🤪
It’s Metallica, you don’t have to understand the lyrics
