I'm not religious but I like the song for the same reason I like any sabaton song. I view the songs this band makes as a sign of respect usually, to all the brave men and heros who went through terrible times, weather it be the swiss guards, the 30 years war, or the Greeks standing against the persans it's a way to remember those who sacrificed themselves or fought bravely for their cause

This reminds me about a scene in a book i'm writing. In the scene, the communist revolutionaries have besieged the castle and launch an attack. The royal guard fights to buy time while the king escapes with his closest servant and two bodyguards. The king gets away but all the guards die holding the revolutionaries off and the battle is lost.

If you don't know what this is about, in 1527, Rome was sacked, and an army invaded the Vatican, with the goal of killing the pope. The song speaks about the gallantry of the 150+ swiss guards (guards of the pope) who defended the pope. I believe it mentions how the guards has to take a secret avenue to get to a castle. DEUS VULT FROM ITALY

This song in my opinion isn’t necessarily about your religion/stance or about the Swiss Guard, but instead about the faith,bravery, and boldness of standing by what you believe, even in the face of a dire situation. I am a very simple man if you can stand your ground without flinching once on what you whole heartedly believe, to me it doesn’t matter if you are wrong or not I will respect you for that, for that right there takes guts something most people lack today instead they would seem to scream, kick, and complain without solidly standing their ground like the brave men in the song even if their situation was ultimately futile.

i've never been this hyped while listening to a song before.

I'd switch "Lord" and "God" to capital letters, in belief systems with multiple gods, "god" is a function or race while in many monotheistic religions god has a name (f.e. muslim "Allah"), but since in Christianity God has no name to call him by standard, "Lord" and "God" are used as names.

Look that up an Arabic lexicon. Allah is the generic term for "the god" in the pagan sense you mentioned. It was used to describe the pagan god of the Nabatean pantheon until the 8th century when Islam adopted it along with the Shahadda of the Perisans. Islam has no personal name for god. And Christianity/Judaism do know the name of God. YHVH, usually pronounced Yahweh in Hebrew or Jehovah if you're German.

TheFoilGuy you’re correct to an extent, YHWH is used by most Jews, but it’s not just the Germans who call him Jehovah, but rather most Christians in general
