======= Hill 3234 LYRICS =======
Landed on the hilltop, soviet forces are in place
Awaiting orders!
They were only 39
The were told to hold the line
In control
Sent into battle, came from the sky
Trapped on a mountain, and into the fire
Hold your ground
When you’re fighting those who fight
Death is waiting on the hill
No surrender, shoot to kill
You have to
Hold your ground
Kill the warrior in your sight
Death is waiting on the hill
No surrender, shoot to kill
January 7:th, hold the hilltop at all costs
Follow orders!
Holding their ground
To the final round
One by one
Fight through the sundown, into the night
Enduring the darkness, awaiting the light
Stand, hold your ground
Come around
Hostile land
Your last stand
Under fire low on munitions, make your bullets count
Push their warriors back down the mountain, rule the battlefront

Little history: 39 Soviet soldiers against 200-400 Mujahideen.Soviet soldiers were able to capture the height only after the second assault.Task 9 company was to defend this height at any cost.January 7, 1988 height 3234 located above the road of the city of Khost.Afghan Mujahideen after shelling launched an attack on the height of 3234-all attacks were several:At 15:30-attack using mortars, small arms, grenade launchers,at 16:30-the attack was from two directions,50 minutes later the attack was repulsed-10-15 Mujahideen were killed.During the attack killed 20-year-old Vyacheslav Alexandrov- stood for machine gun and three times successfully reflected attacks opponents. The fire of the Mujahideen were focused on the position of Alexandrov. But in spite of this, he ordered his men to hide behind the position, and he continued to fire.According to descriptions of colleagues, because of smoke and explosions of a laying of Alexandrov it was impossible to make out, but the machine gun of the hero didn't stop. In this unequal battle Vyacheslav Alexandrov died the death of the brave. At the cost of his life he repelled the enemy's attacks and saved his comrades."At 17:35 the second attack which was conducted on a site of a position weakened in connection with loss of a large-caliber machine gun began. Artillery spotter Ivan Babenko at the end of the attack requested the support of artillery. At 19:10 the third attack began. Under the cover of a massive fire from machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades the rebels, regardless of losses, was in full growth. The attack was repulsed. At 23:10 Began the fourth, one of the fiercest attacks on the height. Using the dead spaces, under heavy fire, the Mujahideen approached the slopes of the height from three directions, including through a minefield. In the Western direction, the Mujahideen managed to approach at a distance of 50 meters, and in some areas - to throw a grenade. From eight in the evening to three in the night there were nine attacks. In the battle killed another young soldier Andrey Melnikov, who has long repelled numerous attacks of the Mujahideen, when Andrew was out of ammunition,he got to the next shelter for new ammunition, but fell, having only say:"the Ammunition...".When the dead hero took off his vest, they did not believe how he remained alive for so long. Judging by the injuries, Andrey should have died a few hours ago. The plates of the bulletproof vest were pressed into his body from the blast waves." At 3:00. The last attack, the twelfth in a row, was the most critical in the current situation. The opponent managed to approach positions on 50, and on separate sites - on 10-15 meters. By this time the defenders actually ran out of ammo. The officers were ready to call the fire of artillery. As a result of fight 6 young Soviet guys who were on 20 years at which all life was ahead were lost, but they won this fight and defended this height at the cost of the lives.

It's very funny to read the comments. In Afghanistan, in 1988, there was a Battle at point 3234, and in 2009 there was a Battle for Kamdesh. In 1988, without drones, without advanced thermal imagers, 39 Russian soldiers killed 200-300 Mujahideen, who were supported by the Americans, and lost only 6 soldiers killed. In 2009, the Americans, armed with the latest weapons, equipped with thermal imaging cameras and accommodating 102 soldiers, of which 60 were Americans, lost 8 American and 4 Afghan soldiers, while American aircraft constantly bombed the Taliban and, together with the garrison, destroyed 7 Taliban. After the Americans evacuated and blew up their camp with all weapons and ammunition, they claimed to have killed 150 Taliban fighters.
