We end our 2023 "Christmas Market" cycle on the third weekend of Advent with two Christmas markets in Saarburg, the Victorian Christmas Market and the Christkindlmarkt.
The Victorian Christmas Market Jingle Bells takes place in the former bell foundry Mabilion, the KulturGießerei. We already visited this historic craft site in the summer, but this time, it presents itself in a completely different guise.
Jingle Bells is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and, as expected, there is a huge turnout. The event takes us back to 19th-century London.
Many visitors present themselves not only in historical costumes but also in imaginative costumes based on the stories of Jules Verne.
For two days, the Bell Foundry will be transformed into a meeting place for time travelers from the steampunk community. All kinds of items, such as steampunk lamps, are also offered.
Some of the costumes are tailored by the wearers. Visitors receive three buttons on entry, which they can hand out to the wearer or group with the best costume. The buttons will be counted at the end of the Victorian Christmas Market. The winners will receive an exclusive photo shoot and become the cover model for the Jingle Bells 2024 advertising campaign.
In this wonderful atmosphere, there will also be many beautiful and artfully crafted items on sale, such as glass-blowing jewelry and pottery. The Jingle Bell Singers will also fire up the atmosphere with their songs.
Afterward, we visit the Saarburg Christmas market around the waterfall, characterized by its illuminated blaze of color. We particularly liked the electric carriage, which offers comfortable and environmentally friendly transportation from the bell foundry to the Christmas market and back.
The stalls around the waterfall offer all kinds of Christmas items. Of course, there is also plenty to eat and drink.

Wir beenden unseren "Weihnachtsmarkt"-Zyklus 2023 am dritten Adventswochenende mit zwei Weihnachtsmärkten in Saarburg, dem Viktorianischen Weihnachtsmarkt und dem Christkindlmarkt.
Der Viktorianische Weihnachtsmarkt Jingle Bells findet in der ehemaligen Glockengießerei Mabilion, der KulturGießerei statt. Bereits im Sommer haben wir diese historische Handwerkstätte besucht, doch dieses Mal präsentiert sie sich in einem völlig anderen Gewand.
Jingle Bells feiert dieses Jahr sein 10-jähriges Bestehen und wie zu erwarten ist der Besucherandrang groß. Die Veranstaltung führt uns in das London des 19. Jahrhunderts.
Viele Besucher präsentieren sich nicht nur in historischen Kostümen, sondern auch in phantasievollen Kostümen, angelehnt an die Geschichten von Jules Verne.
Die Glockengießerei verwandelt sich für zwei Tage in einen Treffpunkt für Zeitreisende aus der Steampunk Community. Es werden auch allerlei Gegenstände, wie Steampunk Lampen angeboten.
Einige der Kostüme sind von den Trägern selbst geschneidert. Die Besucher erhalten beim Eintritt drei Buttons, die sie an die Träger oder die Gruppe mit dem besten Kostümen verteilen dürfen. Am Ende des Viktorianischen Weihnachtsmarktes werden die Buttons ausgezählt. Die Gewinner erhalten ein exklusives Fotoshooting und werden zum Covermodell für die Werbekampagne Jingle Bells 2024.
In dieser wunderschönen Atmosphäre werden aber auch viele handwerkliche schöne und kunstvoll gestaltete Artikel, wie z.B. Glasbläserschmuck oder Tonwaren angeboten. Dazu befeuern die Jingle-Bell-Singers die Stimmung mit ihren Liedern.
Im Anschluss besuchen wir den Saarburger Christkindlmarkt rund um den Wasserfall, der sich durch seine illuminierte Farbenpracht auszeichnet. Besonders gefallen hat uns die E-Kutsche, mit der man sich bequem und umweltfreundlich von der Glockengießerei zum Weihnachtsmarkt und zurück befördern lassen kann.
Die Stände rund um den Wasserfall bieten allerlei weihnachtliche Artikel. Selbstverständlich ist auch für das leibliche Wohl ist gesorgt.
Wer neben einem Christkindlmarkt auch mal in die viktorianische Zeit abtauchen möchte, sollte sich die Veranstaltung bereits für das nächste Jahr vormerken.
