Can you remove/readd a module like this? I need to remove and readd my BCM to hopefully reset an issue that is mildly annoying but otherwise inconsequential… so I don’t want to risk causing actual problems by doing this.

Great Videos, When you replace a PCM (ecu) how do you change the vin that is stored in the PCM?

Hi Markus, I will be removing standard head unit, and putting in an upgraded head unit on the Information head unit. I assume the operation is the same ? I have a 2009 9-3 TTiD

Markus, greetings from Edinburgh. Your channel is very useful for me, thankyou. Being a top-class Dummie, can I please double-check. The CDC does need to be in the car for this 'divorce' procedure to work. Is that right? This seems logical, as surely the CDC item is really the divorced party. When that items wants to be married to a different car, it must be divorced already. Many thanks for your help with my understanding. With Best Wishes, Mark.

Är det samma procedur skilja/gifta när man ska byta ecu på en 9-3 2008? Och funkar te.x foxwell? Eller är det bara tech 2 som gäller?

Hej. På en 9-3 2008 krävs dessutom säkerhetsaccess, det behövs inte på 9-5orna. Det är Tech2 som gäller :-)

Thank you for sharing 😃 When I bought this 2002 9-5 the stereo was already changed to an Chinese. The original is gone. When I connect the tech2 I got the failure stereo is missing. Is there any solutions to get rid of the failure every time I connect the tech2? Is the solution to Divorce it without having the oem stereo available? Will this cause any issues with the connection of the new stereo some ways when divorcing it? Do I need to disconnect the chinese before divorcing maybe?

@@pergundersen9920 Since you don't have the old one.. The only solution I think of is to get another original headunit with another VIN. Change the VIN in the car to the same as the original radio. Divorce it. Then change back to your original VIN. BR Markus

Hmm one technical and one off topic question: 1. I guess you had to find that CDC that was previously removed and now to connect it again, to be able to divorce it, right? worth mentioning (If I did not overlook it). 2. Since you have NG95 now, do you also plan to obtain MDI with GDS2 software to play around with something there as well? :)

Hey Peter! 1. When I installed SaabAux and the Parrot HF kit I removed the CD changer from the car without divorcing it. Then it has always popped up as an error when scanning for DTC's. So finally I decided to divorce and just show you guys how to do it. Yes I had to connect back to the car to be able to do this operation correct :) 2. I have been looking for MDI on AliExpress, but I'm not sure which to get. There are complete kits with HDD for a laptop which should be good to go. I can't find any information that it should work with NG9-5, however lots of other GM brands/models. Do you know anybody that has purchased a MDI clone? BR SaabCars

What HDD would you need for MDI? MDI has 2 versions, wired and wireless, AFAIK. Both are ready to work with ng95, blue and the green one, all rights for MDI now owns BOSCH company, you can purchase one from them (well, price is elsewhere, I know.) I plan to have one soon(ish) as well (well not for my not-existing ng95) with some support hopefully. The biggest problem is, possibly, that you have to really have the online subscription to the GDS2 and all the stuff to make things work. But maybe someone will prove me wrong (I hope so).

The HDD is a harddrive that has been pre-installed with all the s/w you need. You just put into a laptop and boot up. The machine should be ready to use in conjunction with the MDI. If you go the right way, you will get the software you need and also the support ofcourse... Depends on the level of usage I guess. I don't use it in a commercial purpose, purely for my own cars. I also (plan to only) use it for myself. But I'm not aware of GDS2 software and secure access being "solved" (you know what I mean) apart from a subscription.

Hei! Vet du hvor man går i Tech 2 for å aktivere extralys på NG9-3 2008 etter man har montert menteringsatsen fra SAAB? Og må man ha sikkerhetsaccess? Hilsen fra Norge :D

Hej :) Pröva med detta. Du kanske har svenska menyer, men jag tror du klarar det ! Tror inte det behövs säkerhetsaccess till detta. From Main Menu, select F0: Diagnostics. Next select Model Year. Next select Saab 9-3 Sport (9440) Next select F4: All. Next select F7: Add/Remove. Next select F3: Accessories Item 8 in the list should be 'Extra Lights'. Select this and hit Enter. Next highlight add and hit enter. The system will then do its thing and eventually ask you to switch ignition off, then finally ask you to remove your key.

How easy is it to swap a single slot CD player for the 6 stack? I have a 9 speaker system in my 05 9-5 Vector Sport but would like to replace it with the 6 stack if poss.

Hi, The stereo in the 2005 that has 6 disc changer has a cassette player in the front. The single slot stereo in the front is known as AS1. MY2006 got a updated interior and a new disc changer in the front. Are you referring to the faceliftet version?

Hello! Just bought a 9-3 2007 2.0. The stereo is locked. According. To the guy it locked because he removed the battery. Could this be fixed with the tech 2 by maybe marrying the stereo to tge car once again? Your advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

Hi. If the stereo haven't been divorced it should not be locked. If it came from another car and wasn't divorced properly it might be an issue. Do you know if that's the case? BR SaabCars

SaabCars according to the previous owner it was working until he disconnected the battery. Could be a lie. I'm not sure

Hi. Is it the new interior that came 2007? Navigation? Maybe the unit stopped working. Could be the memory inside it that stores this information. What if you just try and add it to the car again?

Yes you can, but you don't need to marry it to the car. Just connect it! BR SaabCars

I recently bought a used oem navigation system for my 9-5 from another car but they seller did not divorce it before sending the unit but he gave me the car chassis number and said I can divorce it from my car is this true?

Yes. If you temporarily change the Vin number in your car, divorce it and then change back to the original you can marry the unit to your correct Vin number. 👍

I know. It's a common issue. One has to build the cable harness on their own looking at the diagrams. Try to find a cut harness. New connectors are really expensive.

Jag har fått felkod p1600. Betyder det att man måste byta ECM? jag har tillgång till en tech2 via jobbet och undrar ifall det är möjligt att byta ECM via den?

Jag läste lite om det där problemet. En hel del p1600 uppstår pga dåliga tändspolar. Vissa har bytt dem och felet har försvunnit. De har inte haft original. Det är bäst med GM tändspolar tydligen. Ett bra test innan du går på ecm. Du behöver givetvis ett opel kort i tech2 för att gifta i och ur. Har själv aldrig jobbat med just opel.

Hi, nice video, thumbs up. I have a problem with my Saab 93 2005 linear, it came with 4 speakers, i then connected amp1, no tech 2 at this stage but the extra speakers were working, i then connected amp2 with the extra 6x9 speakers, took it to a saab speacialist and the said there is a break in the fibre optics btw cd changer and ICM3, went home traced the optics from ICM3 to all components in the correct order, no break in physical wires and there's red light in position 1 of all components except the cd changer, with this set up the radio doesnt come on, but when i revert to the 4 speaker mode the radio comes on and only the 4 speakers are sounding. Any help will be appreciated as i cannot get tech 2 to add amp1 and amp2 so i can utilise all speakers.

@@TechCars Hi, yes everything is connected in the correct order, icm3 to dvd player to amp2 to amp1 to EHU to cd changer and back to icm 3. I used the saab installation manual and followed the instructions provided, but i don't know why i am having a break between cd changer and icm3.

@@TechCars Hi, thanks, but i already have this both the 150 and 300 upgrade sound system, using saab Connectors, fibre optics, fuse and wiring to power the amps, both amps have power going to them and the fibre optic in the right order, 1 input 2 output. There is light in all the systems, dvd, amp2 amp1, EHU. The problem is the cd changer end, no light coming out to complete the ring back to icm3, i have tried using different optic wires but no luck, been on 2 saab furums, no luck and even the saab specialist wouldn't tell me what's wrong, all they say is there is a break in the optic ring, which i already know, suggesting my cd player is bad, they're wrong because when i revert back to the 4 speaker mode, everything works, radio, cd changer icm3, aux, phone. I'm thinking best thing is to buy a tech 2 and spend time on it, time the dealers or specialists don't want to spend on it without ripping me of my cash.

@@TechCars I'm thinking could my amp2 which I'm not sure it was divorced from a different saab, be the problem. My amp1 is brand new and works well, but how do i check if my amp2 works?

Fråga: Hur är det med förstärkare? Det är så att jag tänkte ta en sväng till skroten i morron och se om jag får tag på bakre förstärkare samt dörrhögtalare och mitt högtalaren till min sambos 9-3 Sportcombi 2006. är det något speciellt med de eller går det att med dom uppgradera till så att säga 150 istället som det sitter i nu Prestige 80 eller vad det heter :D

Innan 2007 dvs 2003-2006 så kopplas stereo och förstärkare ihop med fiber. Från förstärkaren går det med högnivå till de olika högtalarna. Skillnaden är förstärkaren och högtalarna. Så det är nog bara att plocka och ersätta. I bästa fall bara funkar det direkt. Jag har tyvärr inte så mycket erfarenhet av det äldre systemet med fiber.

Då kanske man kan lösa det genom att ändra chassi nr i bilen den ska sitta i.. koppla in den, gifta ur den. Återställa chassi id och sen gifta in den på rätt sätt.
