Just crank the engine and after 5 or 6 revolutions go to the fuel rail and press in the valve that looks like a tire air filler point and depress it. If it gushes out gas your fuel pump is okay. If it trickles out your not getting fuel to the engine which is why it cranks but won't start. But check the other stuff first. Spark and fuel. Spark is easy pull a plug make sure you have spark. Move to the fuse box make sure all your important fuses are good. Not bad. Next turn take out the first big square fuse closest to the front of the car this will be your starter fuse. Run a long wire to the positive post and then push the other half into the slot numbered 37 if car starts it's your security issue if not and starter clicks you have just checked two birds one stone. Now we know spark is good, starter is good, not a security issue.. now left is fuel pump. You said you showed communication from ecu to your dash. Swap pump and have a good day.

Hey how's it going and thanks for the video. I have a slight problem though. I pulled the line from the tank but I do not see anything rubber check valve down in the hole whatsoever. There are two rubber O-rings on the tube itself that fits down inside the tank but I'm not sure what you're describing here?

Whats you do to get the vacuum lines onto the Check Valved? Seems like Hard Plastic and i'm afraid to break them.

Cut the fuel pipe above the last ridge on the check valve leaving a flare. Once pipe is free, remove the retaining clip. Then carefully pry open the clip on pump, and wiggle the old valve out. Use WD-40 to lube. Using a heat source (hair dryer, boiling water, heat gun), heat pipe end enough to insert check valve in, using flare to start it. It will take skill and patience. If you are like me and have neither, use a small section of 1/4" or 5/16" inner diameter EFI(fuel injection) hose and insert pipe and check valve in the ends, using lube (it will be tight). Use hose clamps to secure. Carefully insert new check valve in fuel pump, replace the retainer, prime the system a few times, start car. You're good to go.

Is common thing to fail the lift pump maintains the pressure a diesel engine needs especially when started for the high pressure pump to kick in any not need comes back to the tank it's a constant flow when cars running with the check valve after parking the pressure is lost and the system has to be primed to purge trapped air I've got this issue now when the car is first started from cold with the assistance not Glo plugs everything is how it should be but if I have to refuel a mile down from that cold start by the time I've put fuel in and pay the pressure is lost is a bigger to start without the Glo plugs that won't kick due to engine being worm but not hot enough because when engine temp if high the pressure come from the heat and when car is running it's faultless so odds are it's not the pump 🤞 out that where I am before I try to fix it at mo but no time 🤔

My saab cranks and cranks and takes forever to start sometimes I have to charge the battery or jump it, could this be lack of fuel?

There is a pressure test valve on the left side of the engine, under the plastic cover. Remove the three bolts which hold the cover, remove the cover. Turn on the ignition but do not try to start the engine, ignition now off. Spend 15 USD on a fuel pressure gauge and read up on fuel pressure.

I had cranking problems, two or three times before it would start, I did CPS, spark plugs, all that.. I finally replace the fuel filter and that's soft that's all my problem, I opened up the full filter and was amazed how bad the paper elements were dirty if you haven't replace the filter I would try that
