That heat boiled the water in the underground, and when the steam pressure reached its limits it boiled over into the above ground as a geyser. The one from above ground. Who was she, and what was her purpose? Utsuho quickly pushed such questions from her little head. - Yatagarasu, the divine three-legged crow The power that had entered her body was the god called the yatagarasu. It's said to be a three-legged crow that lives on the sun. The ultimate power the yatagarasu possessed was the power create atoms, nuclear fusion. I've never said it before, but I actually really like this character as well as her theme, especially after watching the updated KitsuneHawk episode on her. Her whole "dumb as rocks, but has unimaginable power" thing is probably the basis for most of the characters I've created....

Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of dumb characters (Luffy from One Piece isn't exactly my favorite protagonist), but Utsuho seems different. To this day, she stands as my favorite Touhou character in the franchise.

​@@KirbyLinkACW I think what makes Utsuho a likeable dumb character is that she's dangerous, and even more so because of it. Her lack of smarts doesn't hinder her abilities but makes them much more threatening, so it's not an annoying screws-everything-up/ignorant trait but one that makes her a spaced out but powerful enemy - also gives her a personality instead of just "ooga booga blow up world cause evil" :)

@@biptari Okuu dumb side is more of an enabler than a disabler one could say, because she isnt the smartest, she just goes fuck it and that makes it more threatening, dealing with a nuclear bomb type person that can explode anytime is more intimidating than a powerful person whose dumbness doesnt allow them to go full power, and i love all of it on okuu, also that it doesnt really make her evil but just antagonistic

I drew a small sketch of Okuu on my School Desk cuz I was bored and a Week Later somebody wrote "yo okuu" and I've been trying to find whoever that person is.

I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this song, it perfectly conveys how powerful Utsuho is and what will happen if you fail to stop her. Okuu is my second favorite Touhou character (behind Mokou, of course) and this song only adds to my love for her.

She was inspired by the Yatagarasu, a crow of 3 legs that represents the sun. The rod on her hand represents her 3rd leg. What in fact was inspired in chernobyl is the detail on her feet. The one gray-ish foot she has was inspired by the elephant foot.

It's just a coincidence that both Okuu and that urban legend are humanoid crows. It's explicit that Okuu is based specifically out of the Yatagarasu, even the story on the game points to that, as Reiuji eats the Yatagarasu itself to gain the nuclear fusion powers.

@@TheNunya000 Somehow, a background with a nuclear symbol with 2 other things I can't remember and a freaking cat is the perfect background for Okuu regardless of the meaning.

This theme is a roller coaster of emotions, it's menacing, dangerous, nerve wracking, emocional, an absolute classic. Okuu may be kinda stupid, but she's extremely powerful (unlike a certain ice fairy), and the track really shows that. This theme is just amazing!

I think the one thing that surprises me the most about this character that I like about her isn't the fact that she has nuclear power, but the fact that she is a hell raven that is extremely close to very potent heat sources at all times.

The feeling when you get sucked towards a new sun while being choked by radiation from the front and particles coming from behind. Intense

Ah, now this is what you call intensity. And ScarletFlameFlandre is one of the tactful who call her Utsuho as I do.

i actually used to dislike this theme when i first got into touhou because everyone else talked about how good it was (alongside emotional skyscraper) and i was like "popular thing?? ew!!!! now it sucks" for a few months.. anyways this theme intimidates me and i appreciate it for that!

There it is, one of the most iconic final boss theme outside of this fandom. I'm kinda biased towards this cuz I'd heard this from GD somewhere myself as a player (sorry lol), but I really adore this theme, it feels so intense and menacing, and the sirens are a really nice touch to this song, plus Armageddon (arrange of this theme) actually made me love this theme more, such an awesome final boss theme. Also gotta love her design, I mean look at her cape holy- Utsuho's best birb uwu

Utsuho is literally the personification of the 5th law of stupidity: "A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person."

Out of all final stage themes, I think I like this one best, due to the feeling you're actually fighting a very powerful opponent. Utsuho's design and spell cards are fucking lit too with a lot of nuclear-based references

There are tons of mixes of Touhou songs that go unnoticeable unless you can remember the beat of the music. Those led me to loving touhou music up until the current TH18 themes. These are a few, (most are from LeaF) Wizdomiot = Parsee's theme (TH11 - SA) [Noticeable during the drop and the original theme's start] Armageddon = Utsuho's theme (TH11 - SA) [Very Noticeable during drop] Calamity Fortune = Stage 5 theme (TH10 - MoF) [Noticeable, easiest known reference is the song's drop and the Stage 5 theme at 0:11] Galaxy Collapse = Nue's Theme (TH12 - UFO) [Noticeable, most parts are similar and recognizable, Galaxy Collapse is mostly sped up]

Looking back on it, I think this was the first Touhou song I’d ever heard. And of course I didn’t even realize where it was from; I first heard this in Geometry Dash of all places (looking through the comments it seems I’m not alone here). Anyway, this is one damn good song, and one damn good character, too. What’s there not to love about nuclear birb?

Touhou fans like comparing Cirno and Utsuho to each other because "they are both dumb", but that's not particularly accurate, since they are "dumb" is very different ways. Cirno is basically a little child - she has a mind of a 5 year old, and behaves accordingly. Utsuho, however, is just cartoonishly stupid - I don't think *anybody* would ever confuse Reimu with a splash of oil, and respond to her saying that she isn't, with "why is contamination talking?"

you know, i want to put my experience of fighting utsuho here, but i haven't even gotten to her yet edit: After two years, "Ah, I can't take it anymore!"... i have beaten okuu. I bombed her like a million times and only got 3 misses on her, all to sub sun lol. She was really hard, but that's SA for you haha
