SA's electricity crisis | Nearly a month without blackouts
South Africans have been enjoying almost a month without power cuts but electricity minister, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has warned the outages are not behind us.
Some experts have been saying the move to renewable energy can help address the power crisis for good.
Managing Director at Menar, Vuslat Bayoglu discussed this with eNCA.

It's so sad that we suffer like this due to the hands of ANC vast gas and oil has been discovered and mainstream media is not saying anything about that
The moment the elections are over I expect, "due to [script insert] loadshedding 16 will be in immediate until further notice. The follow stations [insert script] is experiencing [...] as result of [...]. We apologize for any inconvenience. Note that loadshedding is implemented as a last resort" in order words the usual. It will likely be far worse. I don't buy into this, the reason why there is none right now is painfully obvious.
Ironic that while there has been no loadshedding for almost a month ,yet at the same time the new load shedding up to stage 16 released
There is nothing green about renewable energy. Catch a wake up!!
The 1st June we'll be back in the dark and very happy with ANC around...
Just after the polls close on election day loadshedding will be back worse than ever!
After the election we'll experience stage 20 of loadshedding
Dan, we have plenty of gas🙈
How is this news?pathetic
It will be back the day after the election
Our area has been more off than on these 3 weeks due to area wide equipment failure. Same in many area. What is Eskom's service delivery rate, ie service to customers without loadshedding... 50%. 60%? No point "celebrating" no loadshedding when old & outdated equipment can't handle demand. SA needs interconnect distributed systems where energy is generated close to consumers, ie community energy. Existing "new" power stations need to run on renewable energy so SA can take advantage of existing transmission & distribution infrastructure. Most new EVs can provide V2G for energy storage for peak demand. Lots of options available.

forget about loadshedding, as bad as it it, nothing compared to coming water crisis. Normally this would be a crime against humanity because you cannot live without clean drinking water. I would say fill up on tap water just in case.

@@xXstevilleXx Oh, don't get me started on the water thing! And DEFINITELY a human rights survival imperative! Luckily - like electricity - there are alternative strategies individuals & communities can do to capture & use rainwater etc (depending where you live), but - like electricity - it's those with money that can afford it leaving the poor to struggle. SA needs to make bad service delivery a criminal offence.

@@CitiesForTheFuture2030 It just grinds my gears you know, see the power issue started like water is now, at first maybe every now and then, slowly increasing, look where we are at. Same thing with water, the moment they want to act will be too late. The three pillars which we need is power, water and, if any of these two remaining becomes like the power issue, it is O V E R. Sure we can 'duct tape' till a point. These problems gets exponentially worse real quick. It is criminal, when people have drink water that poses a danger to their health (~40-50% of tap water in many places this is already the case), regardless when the majority are provided the literal basics to survive (water) that is a crime against humanity. This is monitored not only by independent groups transnationally but the African Union and G20, UN and this will become the existential crisis for ALL. The rich, true, however, government has no money, if they do, this is not a democracy (well not that it is even now) but that is where tax comes in, seeing the unemployment rate not just amongst employees but mass retrenchments, closure of businesses means if you go by (and trust) SARS those worth mentioning (the rich) makes up of ~20%.

@@CitiesForTheFuture2030 also, so where do they get the money? see our lovely kleptocracy is is getting it somewhere but since we have none to monitor them. Bottom line is, the sheer level of unemployment as result of the mentioned is not something they will fix in years to come. Besides with BB-BEE certain people have no chance in hell to be employed, I don't care how qualified you are, experience you, all that matters is ethnicity which is pathetic given non-BBE is ~7.3% They cannot fix the problems, the DA with their RESCUE plan, is more like a 'RESTART/REBUILT' plan, but we ALL know how his is going to turn out anyways... but say by some miracle the DA wins... in the short term ~6-8yrs it will not make a darn diff no matter what,
