Hey Mark, I moved here from IL in part because of your videos, we bought a house in Bacliff with a small strip down to the water where I catch redfish and sheepshead. Retired from the Navy in 96. Keep up the good work!

You're right: fish won't burn the energy required to stay in current like that! The current will spread, slow and eddy down that riprap to the side of the bridge which will concentrate any bait present and draw predators as well. Good on ya for fighting the good fight!
That bridge you guys went under i always fish there. Me and my buddies maxed out on our red fish limit 8 times in the past 2 months. It would usually be 4 of us, so 16 reds a trip. Catfish are a problem there though. So annoying
Ahhh yes, Anahuac, my first experience was solo in my canoe. It was all good until going back against the tide and the wind. I won't forget it!

To fish the area under the bridge.... You need to launch at the public launch at Double Bayou.... Much shorter boat ride....!

Those tides were no joke
Ive seen gar, reds, trout, flounder, cats, drums, all kinds come from that spot. I should know...😁😁
When I fish there I typically soak big chunks of cut for monster gar.
I'd take a big hardhead over getting skunked. I'd take a skunk over a trio of little jagged needles like that.
Today I caught a needlefish to not get skunked lol better than a hard head lol
