    At around 19:11 A good point is made about screws going into plastic, however even the correct screw trying to cut threads in a slightly different spot can damage a panel. Since I found this tip I always use it. Place the screw into the hole and rotate it counterclockwise until you feel it drop into the correct spot then turn it clockwise. I do this on cars that aren't even that old , and it takes little to no time to do it right.

  • @ubergreenguru5704

    @ubergreenguru5704

    This is indeed an excellent tip! This is something I already did whenever using self-tapping screws into sheet metal or plastic. - I'd rather follow the threads that were already there instead of creating new threads & risking the possibility of stripping out that hole. *THE DETAILS MATTER! *

    It makes me ill to watch these videos look back in time. Because, I had a Brand New right off the dealership showroom floor 1973 340 CUDA, Brown with White Stripe, White Interior, Console with a Slap Stick Shifter and Automatic Transmission. Due to a troublesome Voltage Regulator (Replaced 3 Times and then needing to carry Antifreeze, Water, Tools and a Bypass Hose; there she blows for a Third Time) and Bypass Hose I decided to trade the car on a New 1975 Trans Am. The Trans Am was a great car, but as the years went by, I really missed my CUDA!!!

    I certainly understand the thrill of driving a real car same as a model kit built years ago. Mine is the AMT '67 Shelby GT 500, both the kit and the real car painted as close as possible to match. I used a 35mm camera and print film, took many pics of the license plate from all different distances. After they were printed, found the right size one and glued it to the model! Sitting here on display at this moment is the model with my Kansas plate on it. The real car is long gone, can't keep them all! I also have the Little Red Wagon!

    I have to wonder about this. These engines were made to run on high octane leaded gasoline. Todays fuels are the shits compared to then. I know my 69 Chevy with a factory 427 in it pings like there is no tomorrow on pump gas. Octane boosters? Waste of money. Car has to have a mixture of race fuel and pump gas to run right otherwise I would destroy the motor in short order.

    Race gas or methanol injection with pump gas, and if you didn't re-do the valve train for unleaded gas, you need that lead additive that is getting impossible to find. Remember Sunoco 260 at 102 octane and Good Gulf gas, at 98 octane. Are we getting old or what?

    Don't believe it. I've been in the restoration business for 40 years. Unless someone actually PAYS that money, you cannot just tell us what its worth. The wiper transom nuts should be red Cad, not phosphate. Why are 4 guys installing a dashboard when It only takes one? The cables should already be hooked up to the units they control , set up the dash to the cowl and hold it there with a punch in the special hole just for it, start the two 1/40-20 cad plated bolts on each bottom end, then pull the cables through the control panel cavity and install them on the control panel, then install the panel. ONE GUY!! Those five 10-24 dash bolts should be cad plated, not phosphate, with little tabs of cloth electrical tape underneath to stop squeaks . Use a 1/4 drive ratchet not a damn power anything. Also....you DO NOT put dynamat in a "concour" restoration!!! Period! There's a specific tar type that was used from the factory. I mean, who puts oversprayed bolts to install the dash when they are supposed to be silver CAD plated??? Why would you not know that if you claim to be a restoration shop? Do some research, there are plenty of books out there. Our shop has done multiple Duntov award Corvettes. We build ALL of our customers vehicles to that standard. To be judged to that standard. I've done too many of these cars ....why am I putting myself through this?? Oh well...I'm an idiot I guess.
