i had the same issue when i bought the protec a few months back, size M was just about too small so i ordered a large instead and it was huge!

I got one too i love S1 helmets i bought a large. Which is 22.5 around my head. I used a shoe lace and measure it with a ruler and it worked perfect size for me try next time youre going buy a helmet. S1 rocks!!

For those interested, there’s also the TSG Dawn helmet in the same style.

I know this is old but the fact that I'm a manager of a place that can order Pro Tech helmets at cost I will be going with S1, TSG or Triple Eight at full price. I say this because I've heard on multiple occasions Pro Tech just doesn't care about the customer the way other brands do and they do not support inline skating which is why I'll be buying this helmet. I also have many motorcycle helmets, road and mountain bike helmets have been riding since I was 4 and have sold hundreds and hundreds of helmets for all types of heads and activities. S1 seems like a cool company. I wish I could carry them!

Making unique molds for each size is actually the standard, believe it or not. S1 is actually very unique in how they have one shell for like 99% of sizes, and as you showed, implementing pads to make different fits. Definitely makes more sense from a business standpoint

There bike helmet and skate helmets are completely different sizes . The skate helmets do have more padding and are comfortable. They also sell extra pads normal I've been riding forever and I've just always used the skate because they are completely different. Thanks for the video!!

you should look into the tsg dawn helmet its certified, full cut, looks good. have a feeling youll like it.

Triple 8 has similar style but I'm not sure about comparison in safety quality.

S1 and Triple 8 use the same sized bucket for most of their models and use inserts to adjust the fit (don't know much about pro-tec). The only ones that use a bigger bucket is the S1 Mega Lifer and maybe the Gotham from Triple 8 (again, not sure about Pro-Tec).

Have you tried using earphones with the S1 helmet ? Is it uncomfortable?

Super weird I have a the same protec in L my shit fits perfect. I’m sure you could utilize both if you fabbed a thicker pad for the top of your head in the protec. I believe that’s where all the moving is due to such a thin pad

Great video ! I wish I'd seen it before buying a Pro-Tec helmet, sizing of these are way off and indeed they won't come with additional padding nor have the option to buy thicker padding either. Because the large was way too big I opted to purchase a medium as well and returning the large. So now I have 2 helmets that won't fit as the medium is too small and the large is too big. To send these helmets back would cost me NZD$35 each.

hearing is fine, its hot as any helmet... i only ride scooter with it now lol. broke my fukkin shoulder off and now i quit bmxin. also its loud as hell after 20mph. very comfortable tho, id get another

Pro Tec are so frustrating! So hard to get a good fit. No extra padding to get the right fit. Don't sell any kind of thicker lining to help get the size right. Customer support just told me to buy a different helmet. Urghhh. They look the best, but fit the worst!

Sorry, my friend, you can´t blame Protec for buying the wrong size. Protec has a little different steps in sizes, written everywhere. I just bought a full cut as well and i went to the next skate shop to check the sizes out.Turns out, wearing normally L I had to switch to M. Protec sells extra liner kits by the way.

Well my friend if you had listened to anything I said in a video you would see that followed their measuring instructions to the T and I also consulted with two different people from protec to get liners. I don't know what research you did but I'd love to see the video

I ride a small. The protecs are fantastic helmets my pads are nice and thick. I would say dont buy off ebay. I went to the bike shop and tried it on beforehand and it is by far the best helmet I've ever ridden. I've been riding for 16 years now so I've had ALOT of helmets I also have an s1 (not the full cut) and frankly I would take my protec over the bern or s1 anyday. Just my personal preference but you CAN get replacement pads they are right on their site. I would say return the helmet and get a medium or small then do another review. Duh the helmet that doesn't fit isn't gonna feel as good...... also the skate versions are better than the bmx versions in my opinion as well. Shred the gnar!!!!
