I always worry about posting reviews where I get frustrated or don't like something, like I'm letting people down or it's not what's expected, or I think I overreacted. I want to like things. It doesn't always happen, heh.

Lots of people depend on honest reviewer opinions like yours to decide whether or not they want to make that purchase for a figure that looks really good but doesn't necessarily is a targeted buy. Agreed. It’s why Robo is my favourite reviewer. He’ll find the good in the bad, but he will still gripe about the bad. Most reviewers go only one side of bad or good, while he will still find the good, even if it’s bad.

This kind of makes me want to cancel my preorder for the beskar mando and just go with mafex

I like the accessories with the Beskar Figuarts more than the Mafex. Comes with the whistling birds, the electric effect, the jetpack and mudhorn sigil. Mafex is the better looking figure though. Maybe I can use the jetpack and sigil on the Mafex somehow!

I am torn too, love the SHF beskar accessories, but MAFEX has the better look. This review swings me towards MAFEX a bit.

The oversized chestplate and tiny head reminds me of those head-flip Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers figures from the 90s.

As soon as I saw d-amazing’s review I saw the helmet was way to small, and it had tiny little parts. Then thought... oh boy Robo is not going to be a huge fan of this. I fully agree. I will be getting the black series Beskar and calling it a day. I might consider the mafex. But at least those 2 have proper proportions.

From the look of the promos the MAFEX seems to nail the proportions. I'm good with my Black Series until then. And you know me too well, I was dreading those tiny plugs as soon as I saw the box.

I was skeptical about this figure but I really love it now. The articulation on mine is smooth and it feels durable.

SHF Mando is much better in person. But, yes, some missteps. Every line has their issues. Sometimes SHF overdesigns articulation that detract from final product. Fair review as always!!

There was a point in time I considered getting this, glad I didn't. I have the Beskar SHF preordered, I'm hoping that one will be a bit better executed.

I always want to say this during your reviews when you mention the hologram to distinguish real from bootleg, but if a company can copy the figure, packaging, etc - how hard is it really for them to copy the hologram sticker? Love the reviews, as always. Thank Robo!

Funny thing, I shot that before even messing with it, haha.

His over engineering makes Hasbro’s simple working holster and back peg hole seem genius by comparison.

Figuarts are definitely losing their touch. I’m gonna stick with the black series Mando for this look and pick up the mafex for the beskar armour.

imo figuarts make better cartoon characters. I’m a lot more impressed with my dragon ball z figures from them than the few Star Wars ones I have.

Lately theyre raising prices but seemingly lowering the effort. The quality is still very much there but the value just isnt. Honest to god Hasbro puts more love into TBS than SHF does their SW lines. Lately I think too mafex has been showing up SHF releases with their selection especially as far as Marvel is concerned.

The black series is better with proportions even though it could be a little bit more bulkier. The head is definitely too small and the torso is too big. This is a good figure but it just doesn’t look right some how

I can't speak about the whole line, but I have the Figuarts RotJ Luke and RotJ Vader and the RotS Yoda. I love all three. The Vader is a fairly recent release and corrected basically all of the issues with the original Figuarts Vader and is now my definitive Vader.

I wish I could say that but we've also gotten the fantastic Stormtrooper and Vader recently. It's almost a back and forth, maybe between two teams of prototypers?

The latest vader and trooper, and farily the sith trooper too, they are great, they just missed a little bit the mark with these one but people forgive mafex with the bad cyclops and gripes a lot with this mando

This review reflects how I feel about SH FIGUARTS Kinnikuman. While there's no annoying accessory placing, I just don't like their proportions. They're very thin & small when they should be massive like Storm Collectibles, especially when compared to other lines or characters.

Great review Robo, I'm happy with the black series version, I agree it's to clean , needs some dirt to give it some life, that small piece would drive me nuts. You shouldn't have to add anything to a $100 figure to make it better, it should already be a great figure.

Great vid!! I got to ask, where did you get the custom cape for the Black Series Mandalorian figure?

When I first became aware of SH Figuarts they were the best figures you could get. Now it seems like they have really lost their touch. Some of the decisions they make are really confusing. That blaster rifle attachment is needlessly complicated. Small things like that really bring the whole figure down.

I dunno why Bandai has a habit of overengineering minute character details like this for no reason. I'm sure we all could have come up with at least two different, easier ways to plug the rifle onto his back. This seems pretty ridiculous. That said, I'm still excited for the figure, and I have the Beskar armor version and The Child preordered, so I guess they got me there.

Wait a minute!! Where's all the "I can't believe this is $100 dollar figure!!" comments? ;-)

Thanks for this review! I have the black series one, and was thinking about this one, but I actually feel like the Black series one is better for it's price than the SH Figuarts ones. Can't wait for my hot toys one to come in :)

The helmet is way off for me and it a major reasons why i didn't get it.

I've already got this one coming my way, but I might cancel my pre-order figuarts beskar mandalorian... I've already pre-ordered the mafex mandalorian, and I can probably do without the extra accessories.

When I initially saw this and the black series using the Scarif shoretrooper shin I thought it was weird but when you actually look at the armor from the show the shin looks like a Scarif shoretrooper's

What you want out of an action figure is something that's either fun to pose or at least looks good on the shelf, if it doesn't look right to the point that it's distracting, and it isn't fun to handle when trying to pose it, that doesn't sound good to me if it has major shortcomings in the action department and the figure department.

You know, that's a perfect way of putting it. I can look past articulation screw-ups if the overall figure looks good, or I can ignore gappy joints or scale issues if the figure is dynamic and fun to move into awesome poses, but when it's both I get frustrated. And frustration isn't fun. And that's one of the biggest reasons I do this.

How is it that the 3 3/4 inch Vintage Collection Mando has the best strap for the gun?

Glad I stuck with the black series for this suit and the beskar outfit.

Great review, Robo. Can't agree more. So disappointed with this figure. Fingers crossed they fix the issues with the Beskar version. Hopefully the MAFEX gives us the jetpack/mudhorn sigil too!

It doesn't look like the MAFEX has the mudhorn or jetpack, but I'm still going for it. The rest looks too good.

I agree with all your comments Robo ... while still trying my best to love this figure. I received mine this week & agree the helmet is a smidge too small but do HOPE a custom head pops up on the asian websites (are you listening to me NOTA, Manipple etc ?). The cape is a indeed lacklustre, but again I am shopping for a custom. I still like this figure once posed, ESPECIALLY in a rifle firing stance with the stock pushed hard into his shoulder using his secial rifle right hand - something the Black Series will never achieve, so in this department he shines. Articulation, aside from the torso, is VERY good. Could do with some basic weathering. I'm about 70% satisfied with this figure & will keep it pending a custom head. PS - might I suggest a "safety net" around your bluscreen to catch the innumerable bits that inevitably fly off during your photoshoots !

I've never seen Robo have such an adversarial relationship with a toy, even ones he's liked less. That's some craziness. It does look good, but for that kind of money, I wouldn't want a figure I have to fight with. And, while I don't wish you any pain, I laughed hard at "I already lost it!". Thank you. :)

at the 2:40 minute mark you can hear the carpet monster munching away in the background. Seeing this figure gives me concern for the upcoming beskar armor one (I already preordered it and cant cancel now without loosing my preorder money, Id rather just sell that one once I get it an keep the mafex one coming but then again that one wont come with the jetpack or the shoulderplate with the mudhorn sigil) PS: You also have to remove the tiny strap that holds the gun in the holster an put it in the other one when you interchange them (yet another tiny piece that will eventually be swallowed up by the carpet monster, or be quickly snached away by the house elves if you dont have carpet in your house), also the hole in the cape is there so you can actually thread the strap on the head of the rifle through giving it a better look (but it still looks like its a pain to stay in place), I think thats why it constantly was falling appart on you (mainly because the bunched up cape under it was pushing against the rifle),

Yeah, I plugged it through the cape for one of the pics but the barrel is still loose. And that thunder scared me when I was editing, I didn't even realize it had happened. The SHF beskar Mando looks to be using the same rifle set-up too. Ugh.

The detonators on his belt are used in the sanctuary episode to blow up the camp site of the guys who were attacking the village

Im gonna stick with my black series, but if the mafex is good in gonna get it for beskar armor.

To make matters more odd, the pegged rifle is supposed to fit through the hole in the cape before being pegged into the back. Why would they do this?

Yeah, I show a pic at the end of that, it's just a silly thing. "Here, it's already a pain in the butt to plug in, now do it blindly through the cape!"

My goodness. I had the same fiddly experience as you. I was so frustrated throughout the entire unboxing. It’s now in my sell pile.

So what's the slit in the cape for? Is that for the rifle to go through..?

Yup, but it makes it harder to plug because you have to fight your way around that along with the rest of the process.

Looks great but seems complicated... Would love to see your review on the Mafex version when that comes.

I think I may cancel my preorder now.....lol. I like the articulation and overall look, buuuuuut...between the small head and fiddly rifle/accessories I think I’ll just end up frustrated with the figure and going back to my black series one. And hold out hope that the MAFEX one turns out okay? 🤞🏻

I pre-ordered this and Beskar Mando thinking this would be the best we would get in 1:12 scale, but then Mafex came back from their Star Wars hiatus with another Boba Fett-level amazing looking figure. That, added with the over-complicated accessories this has....I might have to reconsider which figure is worth paying for... Now if only Mafex also announces this version of Mando for next year....

This seems like the last figure from SH Figuarts before they decided to kick back into gear. It seems like all their figures after this release are coming with tons of accessories, added articulation and better paint overall. Even though the Beskar figure will be mostly the same, you can see added articulation in the torso area as well as the massive amount of accessories. I think they really lost their touch for a while, hopefully their future figure releases show they're back on track

So my Black Series Mandalorian figure got stolen when soon after the package arrived, im kinda bummed out tbh

Same issue when I reviewed it. SHF really screwed up for us on The Mandalorian. Very sad for highly expected figure which is finally released yet felt like never gotten it. Amban rifle is the worst.

are mandalorian helmets one-size-fits-all? maybe he does have a smaller head and the blacksmith crafted one his size.

Oh yeah, but not this small. There's no possible way a head could fit in that, given the size of the body. Plus the show has it bigger.

DHL shipping is insane.

Since the roll out of Hasbro's face printing tech I really don't consider it worth paying over twice as much plus import tax and processing fees just for a bit more articulation and plastic quality. Their armored figures have never been worth that much more money, maybe if i lived in Japan where you could get them without all the mark ups.

I feel like the small heads are par for the course for Japanese designers, like how Iron Man Revoltechs also have tiny heads compared to their bodies. There's a name for it but I don't remember what. Like, how mecha artists make heads of robots smaller to make the body more imposing.

Just canceled my pre order. I got my mafex mando

Great video. You should check out the mezco captain marvel, I received it today and it's an outstanding figure. I mostly collect sh figuarts but the amount of accessories with captain marvel puts bandai to shame. They are getting way to stingy!

@@TheFwoosh I'm in the UK and mostly use a website called comics and cocktails, I think they might still have it in stock but I'm not sure if they ship to the US. If they do they are a great company.

It can't be that hard to have a working holster and a gun you can strap on your back, they've done it before, i seen it!

Aw man i now want to cancell the beskar armor version that i preorder, and wait for the mafex version, i have their Boba Fett and its awesome.

I always enjoy your videos. So disappointed in the s.h. mandolin. I've been waiting to see what was happening between s.h. and mafex. Helmet size was a giant factor. Looks like my money is going to mafex so far and mafex comes with the child as an accessorie. I'll pay the extra duckets. Can't wait to see what you think.

Very unfortunate about the rifle and tiny head. For the price, I would have expected higher quality soft goods, atleast with a metal wire. By far though, the most fussy looking thing is that chest sling. Honestly would have preferred it if it was part of the chest sculpt, even if it meant a break at the ab crunch.

Going with the Mafex's Mando.

Yup, Black Series will do me for now, I have some customs things for the SHF in mind, but MAFEX looks like they will take it as far as the beskar armor goes.
