For episode 13 of our monthly series - Foxing with Mark Ripley (aka 260 RIPS) - on Shooting & Country TV, we have something a bit special for you...
Mark is famed for his long-range shooting skills, and in this episode he manages to take out a fox in daylight at 536 yards - impressive shooting!
We do want to remind viewers that Mark spends a lot of time training on long-range targets, and is super confident in his kit and his ability to cleanly kill at these ranges - this is not trial and error, but rather the culmination of many years of training and experience.
We continue to shadow Mark as the daylight turns to dusk, when another unlucky fox meets its end, before switching from daytime fox shooting to night time foxing with a thermal scope and clearing a few more problem foxes that the farmers have alerted him to. Enjoy watching this episode! We certainly did!

Nice too see a bit of the old mark doing wot you do best.nice shot fella
From the catching the fox from the binoculars, to shooting was SMOOTH! An extremely exercised, well trained movements. You even moved your hand at the perfect time and distance to catch the round!!
Made my day. Loving the footage with Mark. Absolutely beautiful and Mark is a class act. Always a pleasure to watch him in action. Thank you.

Geoff, 400m is no problem at all. Have a look at the ThermTec Ares 360.
congratulations

Extraordinario...Saludos Amigo...
If I had a powder burner, I'd be pleased with those shots, I find it hard enough with 50-60 yards with an air rifle!
That ground looks great it’s basically one big back stop, you need to treat yourself to the lecia HDBs they would have halved the time on that fox, I know the kestrel will be more precise on average I love mine but the HDBs are so handy for them situations
The white truck of death i think 🤔 they know your vehicle 🚗
Ace shots on 3.07 and 8.59.
Hey Chuck Norris has nothin on this guy!!
Come on I can't believe what I saw wow yous English can shoot
Good shooting Mark , do you ever miss ?? ha ha...

Hi Mark great shooting what make model and sizes of the 2 rifles are u using in this video thanks
@260rips

The first is a custom .260 rifle based on a rem700 action, the second is a custom tikka t3 in 223
Nice shooting. I initially owned the ELEMENT TITAN scope though traded it in for the NEXUS and the NEXUS is far superior, shame it's not 5-25 like the TITAN, though other than that it's superior to the TITAN.

Yes a little extra mag on the nexus wouldn’t go a miss but like you say an excellent scope 👍
Great video as always what thermal spotter would you recommend for deer stalking
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
I would choose a pulsar and probably recommend a Helion as a good option or the accolades if you can stretch to that price 👍
Excellent shooting mate! Can you tell us a bit about your reloads or ammo and how you set up your scope and kestrel for this method of hunting because I'm trying to do this as we speak and don't know if I want to make a dope or buy a balistic calculator ect?
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
In the 223 I’m using factory 53 grn Hornady superformance but in the 260 I’m handloading. For the ballistics I’m using a kestrel wind meter with an inbuilt ballistics programme. You can also use a basic phone app such as strelok pro to get your drops 👍
I used to catch and kill rabbits and hares with ferrets and dogs ect but never foxes and you have answered my question you shoot the foxes to protect the new lambs makes sense to me
New pickup I see

Mark Keep the chassis on your hilux power washed and stick the nozzle of the washer into the holes on your chassis once every two months so as not to allow the corrosion to eat away at it especially in the Uk where they love road salt! These and the land cruiser are awesome they go forever once you look after the chassis😉👌🏻👍🏼
Great shooting, will foxes attack pigs?
I am curious to know how do you adjust your elevation in the dark to the target range
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
On the td50 scope I was using the top turret is actually the digital zoom! I simply held over slightly for the shot. With the rifle zeroed at 200 and shooting downhill it didn’t need much hold over 👍 You can however adjust elevation on a target turret scope if you know how much you need to adjust by counting the audible clicks on the scope 😉
Hi mark, fantastic shooting again, what camera do you use to record your footage ?
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I think the little camera for the long zoom bits is a panasonic hc-v510 👍
What tripod are you using for your camcorder?
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
It’s actually a really cheap thing that came with a spotting scope with fixed legs and just a swivel top but it’s actually alright!
Добрый вечер, всегда смотрю Ваш канал, Вы профессионал своего дела!!! Очень круто!!! 👍👍👍🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Hi mark what’s the best mount to attach my pbir-L to my wraith ultra? Cheers
@260rips
Жыл бұрын
Hi mark I use the wicked light adjustable mount from Scott country for about £35 👍
How do you dispose of the dead fox
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
They are put in the farms dead bin for livestock and disposed of by contractors 👍
Hi Mark, I noticed you've got rid of the VW Amouk and got a Toyota, any reason bud??

I just got the Dji mini pro 3, so light and excellent camera. Keep up the good work Mark.👍
Has anyone noticed when a fox runs or plays- especially through thermal imaging, it looks just like a dog? :/ Humane shooting for sure if really necessary- I would have thought the lambs were big enough to not be in danger by now?
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
They are indeed, however we shoot them all year on here as there is also a pig farm above the valley which looses piglets all year and a game shoot with wild birds on the ground 👍
Which caliber and gun do you use?
@260rips
Жыл бұрын
It’s a 260 rem 👍
How much is that registration plate worth SC TV, a pretty penny I think!
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
😆 about £15! It’s not registered it’s just for the filming 😆
I have a couple foxes around where I live and I like seeing them around when I'm lucky enough to see them. Personally, I like foxes too much to want to hunt them. Shoot straight, kill cleanly. I'm skipping this video
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
Indeed the odd fox around is not a problem, here we have large numbers of them and we will always try and keep numbers down where they do damage, enjoy the rest of the channel 👍
dont understand the need for the killing!!! are farmers not compensated for losses to livestock??? just my opinion.
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
No they are not. Any losses are a direct impact on the farms margins. Currently there are very few practical alternatives to culling predators.

If you have had all your priced poultry stock wiped out by foxes believe me you would feel the need.

So a lamb ripped to bits is preferable to a fox literally not knowing what hit it?
Hey..What does the 260rips mean...🥱🤔
@260rips
2 жыл бұрын
Rips was just a nickname (Ripley) and the 260 relates to the calibre rifle I use!
