Hard to say. not many can compeet with him. Back in the Colin Mcrea days. there was many more and better drivers.

@Yo ming no not always. Drifting is almost always faster on loose and slippery surfaces like gravel because of the understeer.

Didnt Pikes Peak use to be all dirt..I remember watching a video back in the day called Climb Dance with Ari Vatanen in a Peugeot...One of the best I have seen....

block's highest ranking was at WRC mexico 2013; 7th place the 13th you viewed on wikipedia refers to the championship leader board at the time not the actual placing in the rally before that he had a 9th place finish i am not a block fan but the thruth is he has guts and started rallying at an age when people retire so he will always lack the extra courage that comes with youthful vibe for glory rally portugal 2011 is an example.

So, we've got the suspension down. How about altitude change? Also, would the PPIHC be a fast enough track for the F1 car to maintain tire temp and downforce? Can they do well in snow (yes, it snows sometimes during the July hill climb)? I would love to see some crazy open wheel action at the Peak!

New Colorado law requiring all roads to be paved. Unfortunately the stretch in this historic race was not exempt. We can dwell on the past all we want but we must push forward and see the new excitement a paved road can give. I wish I could have seen an all dirt race way back when.

I don't see any disrespect in the word rookie. When Nigel Mansell came from F1 to CART, he admited a rookie condition in CART due to his lack of experience in this kind of race. Loeb said he has to learn a lot in Pikes Peak : new car, new road conditions, new feelings, etc. Due to his natural talent, the learning time has been very short. Same to Mansell who dominated CART after short accommodation periode.

Loeb is the greatest driver to live on this earth.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it (and I mean in person; I live in Colorado Springs). I'm just wondering what the technical implications would be of having an F1 style car on a bumpy track with that much of a change in altitude. I should think Red Bull would be fielding one were it feasible.

Please compare Röhrls car and Loebs car. The S1 was a beast and it was hard to control. This Peugeot is a modern hightech monster, it's easier to control. Also when Röhrl drove there wasn't any asphalt on the complete track, only gravel. So if you're still thinking that Loeb is the best rallyedriver, continue dreaming ;)

Ho ok i didnt know that. When i speak about enginer i think lot of time on Airbus enginers and they are not all french. European enginer and especialy french in aeronautic are amazing. Kourou spacial base in Guyane is full of amazing enginers for exemple. Good job enginers and staff and Loeb..

There's a difference in a race being held at 2500m and a race that fluctuates from sea level to 2500m.

+Nathan Andrews if you actually look at his interviews WRC isnt his "career" its his hobby, he's not the best at it and he's fine with that, he does it because he enjoys it. His career is the motorkhana with Monster Energy (and monster likes to hype him up because thats marketing)

Now thats its pavement the difficulty is much lower, however, Pikes Peak is extradonarily difficult from a technical perspective given the 10,000 ft. change in altitude from start to finish. The weather also can range from 80F to below freezing along the route.

Rhys had lots of minor problems in the initial testing of the car on the mountain, and we are still awaiting the arrival of Jean Phillippe Dayraut, Romain Dumas, and Cody Loveland on the Peak. The Peugeot and Sebastien have been performing brilliantly, but make no mistake: this is gonna be a race.

You dont realize how huge is that , a gap of 50 seconds for 20 kms !!. In a WRC SS the top 3 are in a gap smaller than 3 second every SS for the same distance, and a rally have 20 SS.

NO ONE IN THE ALL HISTORY OF RACING (SPECIALLY in RALLY) CANT COMPARE WITH Sebastian Loeb.
