Restringing is kicking my ass. Either the head stops spinning when trigger is down or the string is loose and just extends on its own

That’s odd. The trigger shouldn’t have any affect on the string it the whole cartridge isn’t spinning it maybe a power issue. If the string extends on its own, check that ratchet mechanism in the head and see if it’s still working.

not sure if mine is broken but the string does not stay in the spool at all. maybe the release tab is broken& doesn’t lock in. thought it was me doing something wrong

Make sure it’s bent real good in the hole on the spool. You could go so far as to try and tie a knot in it as well.

Good video but doesn’t work on my model for some reason. I thread in new string and it just comes out quickly and then it’s way too long and starts flapping around. Nothing is broken on mine either.

How do you remove the black part too if string got stuck behind it and wrapped around???

Looks like there's a nut/screw down in the black casing. I haven't had to do that yet, sorry!

What is the "cutter" for, why do I want the string to cut and why do I pull the string out and attach it to the cutter??

The cutter keeps the string a uniform length so it doesn’t go outside the guard. I brought it out as a starting point to help at the beginning.

You can, towards the end I show how. That spool kit was cheap enough, I’ll end up restringing it from now on I bet.

I have this trimmer, it shreds the plastic guard into plastic smithereens the second you turn it on . I’ve returned it already and the new one did the same thing . Piece of CRAP !!!

it's light duty. Only need it once every couple of months and it does just fine.
