I just got the Ryobi 440 cfm corded blower, I had no problem moving some mulch, leaves and even rocks in my driveway. The driveway is all rocks and I had to put it on the first power mode so it would stop throwing rocks lol. But yea I’m liking the jet fan corded blower by them.

It's always makes me chuckle when people say they don't have to mess with gas or spark plugs. Spark plugs last about 4 years and the fuel is super easy to mix. I use the electric ones for "sweeping" under the couch, and indoor jobsite cleaning.

I was using a corded one, and it lived on suction and with the bag attached, to pick up all the leaves and mulch them. Cheapest one at the big box store, and a 30m power cord ( plus another 20m extension I already had) worked well. As the area was all paved no real stones to speak of, plus this kept the leaves out of the pool, making maintenance a lot easier there as well. Gave it away to a friend to do his yard when I moved. Never understand why people blow all the leaves into a straggly pile, instead of just using the suction to get them in a single pass, or blow them into the street, and they almost immediately will blow all over the neighborhood and back into the yard.

Good review. The 18-V blower is perfect for blowing leaves and dirt from the garage floor. Also use it after cutting grass. This unit has the power to blow grass clippings off the sidewalk and driveway. This is not the tool to blow large amount of leaves. The 2 cycle hand held or backpack blowers are good residential tools to clean up the yard.

I got the gas one a year ago and am not disappointed. No swapping batteries ever 15 minutes either. The gas on just is a work horse and outperforms my old corded blower.

I concur with your findings. I really wanted to enjoy and be able to recommend this newer (most over the 18-20 V range) generation of cordless blowers but the run time is still poor.

Regarding the larger battery powered one on the right, i don't understand why ryobi didn't neck down the exit area of the nozzle which appears to be larger than the gas powered one. Tapering down to a smaller exit diameter would result in higher air speed.

18v its great for garages and shops where you wouldn't want fumes (I use the Ridgid shop blower). I went with the 550cfm 4Ah 40v and an extra 6Ah battery for the garden.

Pfft here in Canada the prices are way different. The gas blower is $300, latest version of the 18v is $130 and 40v is $230. Doesn't make sense to go 40v because the batteries are so expensive to replace, just go gas or electric if you really need the power or go 18v if you are invested into their product line and just need it for in the garage, deck and grass clippings. I bought the older 18v version and with the 4amp battery that blower does very well, it's ok with the 1.3 amp but is a totally different blower with the 4amp battery. The key to remember is don't go cordless if you want to blow stuff that you'd normally clean with a shovel. If you don't want to clean with a shovel then you need a gas blower or electric with a high CFM output. Thanks for the review!

I have three ryobi blowers also, 18v like yours, 40v backpack, and now gas. Both battery powered are great but for concrete surface only. The 40v backpack has a ton of power but dies in 25 minutes using two batteries. Moveing fall leaves across grass there is No replacement for displacement. Gas all the way for that aspect.

You don't see many people choose a gas over the electric options and I am one of many people that choose the electric option over the gas I've had gas blowers and gas trimmers and I hate them lol its not the oil mix that bothers me nor is it the spark plugs I'm very mechanical inclined but getting the cheep ones to run properly is a massive pain I'm tired of yanking that pull starter looking like a mad man . Why spend the extra money getting a really good gas one when I still have to get gas , oil , and engine noise. Then I come in the house smelling like exhaust so I can't sit on my couch right away ugh lol I am not running a lawn business I don't need hours and hours of run time I just need to finish my front lawn my back lawn and blow off the leaves and grass in my driveway and I could do that with the electric blowers . Ryobi used to have a hybrid line that was awesome I still have a blower. That was under water for a few days during Hurricane Harvey it still works too . And still gets the job done .

I bought the Ryobi 18 volt brushless weedeater and I am VERY impressed with it's power. I can even edge with it and it will dig a trench. I never use it on high speed except to feed new line. That is my only complaint. You must turn it on high speed to feed new line. I'll never go back to gas weedeaters.

I use EGO weed eater(whipper snipper) it’s as powerful as the petrol one, more quieter. For blowing and vacuuming grass clippings and leaf, I still use my 2004 BOLENS BL 3100 3in1 petrol powered.and still going strong, it’s noisy but powerful, BOLENS don’t make them, anymore. For lithium-ion powered, I would choose EGO than RYOBI but both brand are still noisey like a loud old vacuum cleaner. Both brand are weak, petrol motor still the powerful one..

The problem I have is ....I have an older 18V blower, which lacks power...I was Thinking of getting the 40V .... as I may want the 40V Hedge Trimmer. I have an 18V string trimmer....ok for around the house. But for true Trimming I bought an Echo 3020 beast. Using batteries seems so much easier, but when I shopped for the Echo I considered the Toro Battery string trimmer.... Trimmer = $$$, the batteries $$$$ Ridiculous. I wish the 40V blower had the Gusto 🌬

Thanks... I have the original 36v (Australian, whereas Americans are 40v... don't know why) Blower... it's ok but doesn't have the strength of my 15 year old Stilh Petrol Blower (even thou fuel is leaking everywhere). I was soooo close to buying today that new 36v JetBlower, but now I'm glad I haven't, as it seems it would prob be the same strength of the original 36v Blower, so I would be wasting my money for nothing, hoping that the jet Blower would be equivalent to a gas/fuel Blower.

We get 36V 5Ah (180Wh) compared to 40V 3Ah (120Wh) so our batteries have more capacity. (I'm guessing - and have no real idea, but I guess the 40V units have smaller cells and fit a couple of extra in, we have less cells but they're larger and overall have more capacity).

All I want is one to blow leaves off the roof. Figured lightweight 18v would be enough. Occasionally would use it to blow leaves from parts of the yard like flower beds. Don't want one that will blow away my mulch and gravel. Do you think the 18v ones are good for that?

It's smart to use Premium gasoline in small engines. Unlike an automobile it will probably cost only a few dollars a year more. If you bought the Ryobi BP42, return it and get a new one next season. They die after a year or so. Ryobi hillbillies will guide you through all the things that could be wrong. That process requires buying part they suggest, waiting for part, installing new part, calling Ryobi when that didn't fix the problem. I went through this 4 step/week long process-At least 5 times: Air filter(1 week), fuel filter(1 week), carb cleaned, carb replaced with a new one, new fuel and air lines installed, new plug. Over 12 hours and ~$100 into this and I give up. Ryobi sucks. Their hillbilly helpers are in the business of getting you to buy all these solutions!! They don't get paid to actually help you with your problem. If the Chinese blew leaves, they'd make a better leafblower. They don't-Ryobi BP42 is a planned obsolescence product. This piece of crap is actually a terrific leaf blower when it works. Show me a homeowner who was able to fix their BP42 and I'll blow your leaves for a season. Also...when you're on the phone with them and they ask you for the serial number on your blower, you'll see that the serial number is sleazily hid by an impossible to read microscopic font size. DO NOT PULL THE STICKER OFF TO READ THE NUMBER!! While on the phone with them I pulled it off It voided my warranty. VERY SLEAZY COMPANY!!

So what ur telling me is the electric blower wont keep up w/a gas powered blower, who knew?😂.Its really abt Noise & Sound! Try using the Gas Blower at night or other times arent when nobodies home, see what ur neighbors think? I have the 18volt, its good But not good enough for bigger harder jobs & leaf seasons comming lol..Anyway thers nobody who still has a brain connected that doesnt know The Gas Blower will always be superior to electric blowers..Really all abt how much work do you want put into ur Leaf Blower AND How Much Leaf Blowing Do You Need To Do?!🙄.For almost any instance there is, the 18volt works pretty well & when using the Rite Batteries will last long time, But Now that the Fan has broke on 18volt, Yes Ill replace the fan BUT I Will Also Get The 40volt Bc if the 40volt Leaf Blower is anywhere near as good as there 40volt Lawn Mower, A Great Mower so probaby at Great Leaf Blower As Well😁..A Gas Blower will ALWAYS out run electric blowers as of now But for most jobs the 18volt is good, So the 40volt must be Great & Quite which is paramount when living with Neighbors🎸🎸🎸

This review is meaningless unless the actual see the volume of material he has to move. If you don't have a lot of leaves the smaller 18v may be enough. The gas unit will definitely be stronger but you are still messing around with oil and gas etc.
