    The 4th “battery” on the battery pack is supposedly just a light-weight connector to connect to your tool. That effectively off-loads the weight of the battery on the tool to the battery pack on your back. It saves muscle fatigue on your arms.

    It also shows the power levels of the three batteries in the backpack. It has an individual readout for all 3. Charges the batteries one at a time, and is a slow(aka normal) charger.

    I literally waited years for a Ryobi 18V hand-held pruning shear. I finally gave up and bought a no-name brand off of Amazon last year. At least it works really well. There were many times when I would get off of work in the Fall/Winter and have to bag leaves starting at 6:00 P.M. in the dark. I would have loved to have headlights on my mower back then.

    The 40v auger is awesome... This is a no joke machine, use it in the tropics, perfect for Post hole digging and tree planting beyond any gas unit I've ever used.

    @@SolelyRyobi DC motors have amazing instant torque, this unit has built in safety features stopping the unit upon impact. However, in order to prevent injury during sudden stops, I would recommend two persons and keeping your hips away from the machine, in addition no locked elbows ( no straight arms) as nothing is perfect and a kickback could potentially seriously injure anyone that is braced and too close... It is a mule.

    Just got my 80V 54" zero turn Ryobi. And I'm dreaming now of stacking the 80V batteries in parallel for a power generator in emergencies. RYOBI is kicking! Pretty sure soon will be the king of power tools.

    So many choices and there are so many you didn’t cover. I may get the hand held wet/dry vacuum first. I’ve really been following the 4v USB Lithium craft tools though (rotary, carver, material cutter, etc.) though, and may end up buying those first.

    I recently downed a few trees on my property with the RY40580 and in the 80+ temps making greater than 18" cuts in larger trees the 6ah batteries can only obtain a few of those cuts in oak before the battery is depleted and THEN when you toss it on charge the OP406 throws a thermal light and wont begin charging immediately. So the backpack would be great for spreading the draw and thermal load for me!

    Hey Logan, great video! Ryobi continues to keep innovating. What are your thoughts on the next gen brushed drill and impact drivers coming out with the onboard LED light? Do you know when they will be released? I’m debating getting these new brushed tools or the compact HP drill and impact drivers. Would use them for DIY tasks around the house, nothing too heavy duty. What are your thoughts?

    Great question. Not sure when they are being released. We still have some old brushed tools that work great. But in general we have moved to brushless whenever possible. Even though (in most cases) it is likely overkill for our use cases. The good news is with all the improvements, the trickle down effect is improving even the tools at the bottom.

    Check out the last tool in the video featuring the track/miter/table saw and tell me that's not a framing nailer, look at the similarities between the size of it and the Ridgid framing nailer and you start to see them. I'm convinced it was a teaser for it and while they have an HP nailer out currently, it is noticeably smaller than the one featured in the video which is also HP.

    Just a quick Question for you both. Naturally thinking when looking at batteries you would think higher is better. But like in lawn care, what is the sweet spot for Amp when using 40v new carbon fiber string trimmer. you have to consider higher amp is more weight, so there must be a sweet spot in amps for items you are using all day. Your thoughts?

  • @SolelyRyobi

    @SolelyRyobi

    2 жыл бұрын

    That is a great question and it does depend on the tool and the person using it. We have the new carbon fiber string trimmer and use the big 6Ah battery. It is a little heavy but we have a lot of them and it seems to run really well. You can get the 6Ah battery in the smaller form factor (same size as the 4Ah and 5Ah) but we have noticed they preform differently. The larger batteries can run tools harder and longer than the smaller ones. We have not tried it with the 2Ah slim back batteries. It would probably be fine with the string trimmer. But it might struggle if you put a blower attachment on it. In summary, the larger batteries (6Ah and 7.5Ah) are going to run the tool better but they throw the balance off a little. The smaller batteries (4Ah, 5Ah, and 6Ah) feel more balance, like what they used to design the tool. But we have seen them shut down the tool (protecting the battery) before they are out of juice.

    Hey guys! Do you know what the difference of the HP and non-HP batteries are? I know with 18v its the brushless vs brushed. But with 40v, I thought ALL tools were brushless. I have not seen 40V HP batteries to by alone, only with certain tools.

    The push for garden battery tools might be due to the new CA laws about small motor ban. CA is pushing for all Gardening tools to be zero emmisions. I want the back pack charger thing. If I had that I would stop using my gas chainsaw. Hey do you think I could plug that into the snow plower?

  • @SolelyRyobi
