Ryefield model's 1/35 German staff car type 82E (Full Build)

Hi everyone just want to say to all my subscribers a Happy New year and hope your year is productive. Talking of which as far as my channel goes I will keep on going. With all that has been happening with COPPA it hard to say with confidence what is really going to happen. My fear is really what KZread has in mind for channels like mine and I expect that changes are on their way. Anyway, that's enough of my forboding rubbish and on to the video. This is my first Ryefield model and I'm very impressed with this very petit 82E (Beetle). I hope to include painting and airbrushing shots in future videos. This will mean investing in some better lighting and tripods; we shall see!

So I noticed they included the front differential and axles, thereby making it 4 wheel drive. The type 82e (kubelwagen chassis) was NOT 4WD, but the type 87/877 (schwimmwagen chassis) was 4WD and had wider fenders. The cartoon-looking tires were KronPrinz sand tires for the AfrikaKorps.

Correct! Type 87 is AWD, Type 82e is only RWD. And i belive it must have sunroof, normal sedan does't have the kubelwagen Chassis
Great build and finish Greg. Thanks for taking the time to show us your skills.
The tonal variation you added and the texture on the seats (gloss/matt) are just awsome!!! Everything is subtle but very striking!!! TOP!!!
Nice work. Beautiful paint and weathering on the body. A perfect example of less is more. Bravo.
Nice job Greg. Nice light weathering looks good.
The seats look superb Greg.
Absolutely beautiful!👌😎👍
Great build Greg! Really very nice kit. Beautiful clean work as usual.😎👍🚕
I’m envious of your paint skills Greg...those leather seats are the bees knees :)
Very nice looking!
Great job on a great little kit.
Such intricate work. Excellent.

Thank you! Cheers!
Very good work! Congratulations!
Great paint job
You mentioned 'subtle', and you accomplished that. It's not crapped up with too much weathering. The seats are just beautiful- looks as if some soldier's rear end has slid around in those for a mile or two. Almost expected a tiny soldier to drive it away. Cheers Greg! Cork
Hi Greg mate, great little build. You've got it looking bang on. Brill stuff. Stay safe buddy.
Nice wee kit👍
Hi Greg ... love this kit ... will build it myself soon ... i like how you painted the subassemblies ... i will do the same ... beautiful work mate ... the model looks awesome!!! ... cheers Make*
Really cool build and it turned out great.
Viewing this a bit late BUT enjoyed the video of your build and just received my kit in the mail...nicely done! 👍👍

Thanks 👍
Really nice build Greg I especially like the leather seats and trim they work well with the grey . Regards Gav.
Beautiful model!
Very nice job mate 👍🇬🇧👌
Nice done. Looks great. ;)
The 'toyish' looking tires are sand tires for the desert version. They problem RFM and every other company who issued this car (CMK, pretty much) in. 1:35 missed is that the fenders are a bit wider for the desert version. As well, the lattice on the floor was varnished wood and tended to appear that way, although it might also be weathered grey from dirt and wear. This kit is gorgeous though. I want one.
Thank you, I just saw another builder struggle with the front window but yours fits perfect so it must have been builder error.
Excellent! I'm just starting to paint mine now, so thank-you! You did, however, miss out a part. 😄 Yeah, call me a pedant! On the PE fret, there is a tiny, and I mean tiny, embossed VW emblem that is meant to go on the bonnet near the windscreen. It's visible on surviving vehicles. That RFM make no mention of it in the instructions, nor show it on the box art is down to copyright issues, I suspect. They also don't use 'VW' or 'Volkswagen' anywhere in or on the box. Go figure.
I am glad i just found this channel
Looks pretty good Greg
Awesome - You might want to get a cutting mat without a grid pattern. Such a bold pattern is a magnet for the camera's autofocus.
Wow, Herbie joins the Wehrmacht!
Like it a lot!
Turned out pretty good. I test drove a souped up super beetle a year ago, its shifter for reverse is funky, you have to push the stick in and select that gear. Nice job Greg!

It beats the heck out of missing a shift and catching reverse. It's a good precaution.
The weathering on the doors looks great. Might I recommend doing something to weather the windscreen to show the sweep of the wiper blades? I knpow I'm way late to this video. I really love your builds. I am inspired and learn so much.

Wow im so glad I found your channel. What colors and stuff did you use on the seats?
That's a good looking model when it's finished. They should release it in 1/24 scale as it's crying out for customisation. I know Tamiya do one (there is one in my stash ready to be Herbie-fied) but that's a later car from the 60's
Subscribed.
The wheel options are sand tyres and normal road tyres.. Nice build
Side note, Greg I have purchased kits in the past and the box was huge, when I opened it up I too was disappointed in its miniscule size. LOL!

Yes a tiny and fiddle thing
Hi Greg Really enjoying your channel, your patience is amazing. Did the windows click in or did you glue them? I just thought that after painting the seals to get them in without glue marks would be extremely difficult. I find transparencies "challenging" as they say.

From what I can remember some of the windows had tabs on them, making glueing easier. Tamiya extra thin is used sparingly, capillary action.
What a beautiful model and a great job with the assembly and paint process. One question, from where is that you got this model? I've searched on Amazon and I can't find it, and on the page of Ryefield models I see no link to a store.

Not once but twice, sadistic buggers
Guys , the instructions on the net clearly call for the Y7 part....vw sign...to be put on the bonnet...all reviews have this as a con....but hey,.do our research.... however nobody seems to mention that there isn’t a hint of instruction on painting.....nevertheless this is one fine kit..i am building mine now...and trying to find color references.... including the ones from this excellent modeler. Really cool model for a vignette or standalone. Just one question...how fo you glue painted parts?
@GregsModels

Super glue or Tamiya glue in the white bottle.
Cracking finish, but the screen is to clean isn't it?..lol, some muck outside the wiper arc would look good
Nice original split window bug real thing is very rare nowadays very collectable interesting you saying it could be a kuble the floor pan wood is similar to the schwimmwagen and kuble wagon right enough. Return of the Thing haha! They VWs were horrid eh I'm sure the civil version was called the Kurierwagen
