This is really comforting to hear. I’ve recently started a degree in nursing and It’s heightened how much my hands tremor and it’s making me question if I’ve chosen the right career. I’ve been shaky in my hands since about 16 but its been easier to mask and rather mild. I haven’t got a diagnosis yet but have recently had my bloods taken to rule out anything else, although it’s not caused by anxiety it does make it significantly worse and I find a few glasses of alcohol reduces my tremors to that of someone without tremors. It’s causing a lot of anxiety but hearing other peoples experiences really helps. Especially from younger generations. Thanks for the video

@@raniasham3176 wow! I’m a nurse & I’ve recently started doing IVs & I’m shaking like crazy!! I spoke with my primary care doctor last week & she prescribed propranolol & it helped. I even noticed my heart rate lower, at work my heart rate was 104 at rest 😳 we’ll get through this strong 💪🏾

I am 41 years old and have ET. I got mine from my mother. One natural way to reduce is effect is to stay in good shape working out. Running reduces your resting hear rate and this will reduce the tremmor. Mine is geetting worst as i get older. So i literally just got prescribed propanolol. Hopefully is works pretty good. In any case, i will not let ET stop me from doing what i want to do in this lifetime 😊.

This is reassuring to watch considering I also am dealing with essential tremor. My first experience long before I had a diagnosis was struggling to write the number 3.

I’m 35 years old and I have shaky hands since I was 9 years old. I tried to get help over the years, but I was always told by doctors that my hands shook because I was a nervous and anxious person. The tremors have got worse along the years, this week I decided to some search on KZread about shaky hands, that’s when I found out about essential tremors. I talked to my doctors about essential tremor and I’ll start taking medication for it soon. Hopefully it will help, it’s difficult not knowing how bad the tremor will be in few years and how it will keep affecting my life.

I have inherited Essential Tremor like Ryan from birth. I have a private theory about my tremor. Over the years I have come recognise that, counter intuitively, when I relax my tremor increases. I think that during my daily life at work and elsewhere, I subconsciously monitor my tremor and something somewhere in my mind helps to reduce the strength of the shaking. However, when I'm at home and I'm feeling very relaxed, I think I drop that subconscious monitor and as a consequence, the tremor becomes much more violent when I try to eat or drink a cup of tea. I suppose we all have different experience of ET but i'm guessing that many people have been surprised when they notice Ryan's tremor as he is otherwise quite a cool character. It's my completely unscientific theory but I do think that perhaps Ryan had the unconscious monitor switched on during the filming.

im 25, i’ve noticed my tremor since i was about 12 but didnt know it till about 16-17 the shaking has effected me with getting good jobs because i would rather hide away than actually be seen especially with my hands but when i was playing football i was also playing darts a lot and i felt good being seen more, then i got a bad knee injury and has stopped me from exercising and playing football so that has made my anxiety blow up really bad, i just feel like im going insane all the time tbh

I relate a lot, but my problem is full body shaking induced by stress, excitement or fear/phobia just as intense as hands so when at doctor I might not even shake if I feel alright. Not sure if it's common in Essential Tremor but pretty sure it started mostly with hands, which I've noticed first time when I was 9yo using a laser on airsoft gun. I was also 17 when trying to get diagnosis, but doctors didn't found anything, maybe they ignored it because I was doing it at the same time as doing health check for future military service, so ppl usually lie and complain about various things just to get denied but ofc I got approved and years later denied when the actual service was about to start because of all the psychological issues such as GAD and Depression I've developed thanks to the tremor.

I’m 33 and have et. Had to leave a dispatch job because of that and depression. I was put on propranolol as well which contributed to depression. Recently got off propranolol and put on primidone. I’m hoping at 50mg it will help. It’s funny because I could go skateboard and do some crazy and tedious tricks and not shake at all. Then I could be at a store and my hands and head start to shake. Even if I’m not anxious. People have thought I was hungover or on drugs as well lol it’s funny because I quit drinking over a year ago. Anyway, thanks for the vid, cheers man!
