Excellent video, Ryan. Let me toss this up and see where it lands. Lack of proper documentation! You think you know your system like the back of your hand, but guess what? Two years from now, you can't recall what you did in what panel. Documentation on how to shut down the system. When I had my first heart attack, I was in a hospital bed on the phone trying to explain how to transfer power from the grid back to the loads and bypass the batteries. Nothing was labeled, and my wife didn't have a clue what I was trying to convey to her. That problem has been fixed! And, wire management! I've seen hundreds of home assembled off grid systems that look like the day the radio blew up. Wires going this way, that way, into and out of boxes, exposed DC buss bars.

Yes I agree I plan to write up some colorful documents on our system so anyone could see how to bypass to the grid or shut down the batteries etc.

Ryan that was very helpful. I am offgrid with the Schneider family system 2 arrays on midnite solar combiner boxes to 2 MPPT 150/60, XW6848+Schneider PDP, Insight home, 6 - EG4-LL batteries. I would to expand the system. I have the 12-345w panels to add for an additional 4140watts. That's too much for a MPPT 150/60 so I am looking at either the MPPT600/80 or the MPPT 600/100. I have always like you said try to match the breakers to the in coming voltage. Schneider sells the add on breaker for both the 600/80 and 600/100. But the Schneider breaker is rated 125A, 125V. Am I missing something here?

125 is fine as long as you use #2 wire. Schneiders controllers will over shoot the current limit some if over driven and can nuisance trip a breaker if to small. I usually use a 100A on their 80A controller and would also use a 125A on the 100A controller

@@aroundthehomesteadwithsuer3497 I think I answered my own question after I thought about it. The breaker is for the charge controller output. What would you do for the incoming voltage, use a breaker or an IMO disconnect switch. They say I can use an IMO at the array. I still like some type of fuse/breaker there.

@@alandonnels7382 thats a tougher one. Midnite has a 20A 600V breaker. They also have fused 4 string disconnecting combiners so I would start there looking at what they have to offer

Hello I’m a new subscriber. I watched your vid on nomad and you mentioned travel data. I’m a newbie RVer and I was wondering if you have any updates on travel data and do you recommend them

Travel data worked well for us for quite a while and overall we had good success in most areas as far as signal. Unfortunately they recently doubled the price per month and that made it unreasonable in our eyes to continue to use it.
