Ryan Nagata's Apollo Pressure Suit Replica!
Ғылым және технология
Adam is awestruck by Ryan Nagata's replica of an Apollo-era pressure suit. This meticulous recreation of what was underneath the iconic white A7-L spacesuits showcases the engineering challenges that the spacesuit designers at ILC had to surmount to give Apollo astronauts mobility while keeping constant volume of the suit. Adam and Ryan geek out about the details of this replica, which Ryan brought to show at this year's SiliCon convention!

Ryan back on the channel, a truly fantastic day! I can't even put into words how much I appreciate the effort and creativity he puts into his creations, 'Inspiring' doesn't even begin to cover it! And Adam's unlimited enthusiasm for Ryan's work always makes these particular videos an absolute joy to watch! Thank you so much for this incredible content!
Ryan is just working on another level. insert the face Adam made after the rocket sled car episode....
This is amazing! On a related note, did you ever see that British moon suit that’s a suit of armor with a cape? Just in case you needed another space suit replica to build…

Oh yeah, the British Interplanetary Society? Had some big beautiful disc on the chest. Good call to the past. And I imagine it would be much easier to replicate than this modern (relatively) technology.

That suit had a tiny air-lock in it's large 'belly'; an Astronaut could examine specimens or repair small parts fully inside the suit. The Astronaut would retract his arms from the suit-sleeves, freeing his hands to work inside the suit. It was more like a space-ship with arms and legs!
Ryan is the master of space suit replicas, his attention to derail is astonding.

Adam's attention tends to derail too ;) So they are a great match for such discussions. :)
The commitment and level of detail is astounding.
Great video. Astronaut Pete Conrad struggled with the lacing system of the suit on Apollo 12 - and really had a hard time getting the lacing adjusted so he could complete his EVA without discomfort and pain.
That is a beautiful piece of kit … I appreciate the sheer amount of resourcing and OCD it takes for a hobbyist to make this suit … I’m jealous of the time money energy afforded to Ryan to Replicate!
Ryan is a madman ... in the best possible way.
That shoe blows my mind, fantastic work!
That is just incredible.
Adam talks about Ryan Nagata all the time it's nice to finally have a face to go with the name.
Ryan's work always blows me away! It's crazy. Adam should make a LIGHTYEAR spacesuit, the designs in the movie are phenomenal.
I’m currently making my first space suit, a very budget friendly Gemini suit. Ryan’s work is what inspired me to take the plunge. The guy is absolutely astonishing
Very talented individual. To replicate something with that level of detail is insane, all the work it takes from the research to the finished product. Keep up the good work!
I’d love to hear both Adam and Ryan’s take and observations on the spacesuits used in the Apple TV series “For All Mankind”. Haven’t studied the credits but wouldn’t be surprised to see Ryan’s name there.

As far as I know, FAM used prop store company called "Global Effects".
i do not have a clue what the majority of the talk is here, but the passion they both have is evident and enviable
Outstanding!!
The glove/sleeve lock reminds me of camera lens extension tubes/ converters
I got to see this suit at Spacefest and it's amazing in person. Watching Adam geek out over it makes it that much cooler.
This is too cool ! Thanks for sharing ☺️
The best sort of madman-- so happy to see your success and apparently making an income from the madness!
Ryan is the man.
Sitting on a bus, noticing Tested uploaded spacesuit content (*Nagata* spacesuit content no less!)... the discipline it takes to save this until I get to home computer, for better viewing.
That oval tubing is from a vacuum cleaner. I can't remember the brand but I do remember one having that style flat sided oval black spring tubing.
Wow nice suit thanks for sharing Adam sir.
@Adam Savage’s Tested Thanks so much for this video I am making small space suits for my little sisters American girl dolls and that angel building coating is what i was looking for again thank you so much to Ryan and Adam savage and the whole tested team
Very cool man!!! You must have spent a lot of time perfecting that suit and it shows!!!!
Ryan's amazing!
That is one amazing and beautiful suit
It’s like listening to a conversation in a different language but enjoying it just by hearing the enthusiasm in their tone. Lol
I’ve had some experience doing pantograph engraving. It was a a nice change from the regular machine shop work.
You said you use your ruler tattoo and at 11:24 we get to see you actually referenced it for the tube
Of course Adam has a light in the pocket of his Alien Crew outfit xD I LOVE IT!!!! Does anyone have a link to the same flashlight?
This dude is soon gonna build a full replica, with working life support system and that can fully hold pressure. This dude is crazy

I'm gonna beat him to it, using the AX-2 'hard-suit' design.
Also … Tested needs to add an “underachiever” demerit badge for when we see craft like this … and we see how much we are underachieving!
I’d love to know as much about anything as Ryan knows about Apollo era space suits.
I missed Silicon show again. I would enjoy seeing the show and I am still hoping my health with let me make it to Comic Con San Diego 2023
That style connector that Ryan could not find should be called a Deutsch Connector - 61 pin. I’m not sure, but it could be MS3476L24-61P, a Mil-Spec Deutsch connector.
I made that black air tube. It came from Global Effects Inc.
Did Adam ever finish the Martian replica? Just wondering.
Adam to mój bóg. Adam is my Good
would be a nice antarctic exploration suite
I wonder if Ryan has considered electronic sputtering to apply the helmet tint.
"How is this to wear is it highly constricting" translation "Would this fit me if so can I please wear it". lol
That tubing might be from a vacuum cleaner supply like electrolux
Thanks.
Did Adam ever finished The Martian suit?
Is Adam wearing _Nostromo_ gear?
The oval duct looks like it could be defroster ducting from an automobile.
The yellow booties are NASA Crocs.
Adam is such a fanboy lol
So he could have made it hold pressure and be a real(ish) working suit if he had just used the right materials?
@JayFolipurba
Жыл бұрын
Probably because of the materials. Real space suits have a rubber layer, that turns the whole think into a giant rubber glove, which holds the air and pressure inside. This suit is only made of fabrics
build john bedini's machine again! without sabotaging this time!! lol
Amazing how the original is literally a cotton suit with hiking accessories which can resist thousands of miles of radiation. It's almost unbelievable.
Watching nerd’s nerd out 😂🤣🤣😂🤣.brilliant just brilliant who thinks adams ordere one 👍🏻😉🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
If I had a penny each time Adam explained that "raft bending".
Doubt the original suits held pressure too.
Круто🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦👍
"Laser"
to be fair all makers gotta be a little nuts lol
That tube you can't identify looks like the cover that goes over the metal attaching the back of a cheap computer chair to its rolling base.
We all know it won't work. Time is almost up.
I just love when I get that notification saying "Someone liked your comment!" Or "Someone has subscribed!" Makes my day better!!!🥺❤
If space was a vacuum the so called real suit would explode and if it were so cold in space the suit would not save you
