Due to popular demand I am bringing back the series 'Worst Firsts' as a podcast!
Best-selling author, artist and activist Ryan Leone walks Brittany through his harrowing experiences being a young addict, going through the prison system, and how he was able to get clean and become the great success he is today. Ryan details how getting a high-profile job at Spike TV didn't deter him from his $600-a-day crack addiction, how some difficult relationships and his habit led him to being in prison for 5 years, and how he ultimately got control of his life, sobered up and is now a successful author and activist fighting for prison reform.

The last 7 minutes were really touching, when he finished talking and Brittney started to tell him how well he is doing now. Everything we've heard from him had to be deeply traumatic for him and I really felt how healing it was to hear such a kind feedback. I had to watch that again, and then I noticed that in the same moment (I think last 7 minutes) Neena appeared and licked his elbow

good job Ryan. I look forward to the day where you are directly helping others in a counseling context or as an interventionist or something for fun and for free (you may already be but none of us would know). You have enough experience and talent to fuel the space-ship until the end. The key is surviving yourself. You can. You're more than what you went through. I see a sweet person who desperately wants connection. Stay alive man. We need you here.

I have to say this is going into my top favorite videos from Worst First. A lot addict content on youtube, instagram, tiktok, etc is always hyping up the sober person who've been doing it for years and years (which is GREAT), but it's interesting to hear from someone that is really pushing hard every single day to live a normal happy life without drugs. It's so damn hard when you have a lot of guilt, shame, regret, resentment, and self hate to stay sober, but it's inspiring to see Ryan where he is in this moment. Sobriety is never a straight path, but a crooked road that you can't make excuses for falling off. Thank you Ryan for sharing the cliff notes of your story (btw hey it's not over yet) and advocating for prison reform, which is so important! Your story is valid to those that have walked a similar path and I hope you can see what everyone else sees in you.

See mine was reversed I was abused as a child . Both my parents were addicts , I too had ADHD and I was sent to a boys school because they didn't know what to do with me, and they too were putting stuff in my food as a child. As I got older into High School my dad gave me marijuana then after that it was alcohol and then I was doing ecstasy in high school , then cocaine and then I graduated high school got kicked out of my house went to my mom's house which I did not have a really good relationship with her and barely knew her. So she got me hooked on meth then she told me a few months down the road that she couldn't feed my addiction and hers so I ended up on the streets in downtown Portland, went through some shit my dad found me, I got sober then 4 months down the road or 6 months down the road my dad ended up dying from full-blown stage 4 liver cancer . I got on drugs again off and on through the years and now I have not touched a single thing in 12 years .Now I have a wife two beautiful preteen daughters and life is awesome sorry for the long story.

I think the opposite. He seems pretty clean here but when he’s rocking he seems high.

I wonder how many people in santa barbara relied on you to get well in the morning. Stay thought considering about 80k people live there. Especially with all your bagels ready made. And a run to LA at least once a week.

oooooofff...I like the guy but, damn...alot of his story is hard to believe. maybe its just me. I grew up around pathological liars and I haven't looked into the dude AT ALL, but....its something. He has some of the traits imo. and again...its MY OPINION.

Good to see Brittany wearing her pj bees. The sex bit about having your first few digs is well out of trainspotting. Sickbay, blabbing on about Sean cannery as James bond. He gives the girl a dunt and its"that better than any meat injection..." If there is a americanIrvine Welsh it's got to be cormac Murphy. The film, which I think is similar in the downfall of drug abuse is requiem for a dream. The sound track awesome as well. X factor in the UK nicked it.
