Huge cheers to Ryan Gosling for making a film that nails the best aspects of Nicolas Refn’s lighting and cinematography, Harmony Korine’s charmingly abject weirdness, Guillermo Del Toro’s fantastical, John Waters’ campy carnival of horrors. And for doing it all on his first try with such tight editing and runtime. This was great. Flavours of Drive, Place Beyond the Pines, and Bladerunner 2049 all coming together beautifully. All that was missing was Ryan Gosling’s beautiful face. I hope he has the bandwidth to make more films in the future!
Ryan is SO GORGEOUS. Gets better every year.

Love this movie. Love how this movie gives you a whole different feel than normal movies do. I think the director was new but the movie was still amazing

I was impressed with the plot and creepy cinematography. It really captured an empty town feeling with realistic characters and a elite cult lurking in the shadows. The music really made this movie great..Johnny Jewel nailed it!
Lost River is an intriguing film. One of my favorite films of 2015. Ryan is a smart guy with elements of eccentricities about his creativeness. A mixture of Nicolas Winding Refn and David Lynch if you will. Be interesting to see him act in his own films someday. Cheers from Canada.

Wish he would direct more. Lynch and refn influenced him. Their films are artistic. Ryan’s somehow was artistic but also very connected to life and us. I’ve lived in Detroit. He captured the angst so well.

I am flattered that Ryan is so proud of being from Canada. Yahoo! I was born in London, Canada.as well. Ryan is smart. I enjoy listening to him as he is rather eloquent. I wonder what kind of Daddy he is? Wishing his family well. Esme must be a doll!

Didn't know about Lost River until earlier this week. Just watched it. It's...interesting. I love what he was going for and his influences seem obvious - Lynch, Refn, Malick, early Ridley. That sort of dreamy, surreal aesthetic. I just feel like there was too little meat on them story bones. I hope he continues with directing because his directorial debut shows promise. Oh, and Matt Smith has tremendous charisma.
