Well honestly, the shock is bigger depending on what you thought of Devin in the Lomachenko fight. I picked Devin to beat Lomachenko but after the fight I thought Loma clearly won like 8-4. So I didn’t have Haney in the P4P list or anything so Garcia beating him wasn’t a massive shock despite I again picked Haney to win.

Devin was coming forward like he had power in his punches. Ryan came to fight and got Devin all the way out his game plan. Congrats to Ryan and DJ for showing us who the real C+ fighter is lol

@cobravision8837 Big difference. Tank fight had a catch weight plus rehydration clause. That's a massive advantage for tank compared to what Ryan got for some extra pounds. Plus you clearly didn't read the comment. The guy said tank doesn't deserve "that much credit." That's different than no credit. This win is more credible than the one Tank had vs Ryan and that's just the truth. Tank had multiple advantages.

I thought Haney would win but I'm not surprised that Ryan Garcia won, we all knew that haney could get caught. What I was surprised about was how much of an ass whooping it was.

To get caught time and time again for a punch you trained for your while camp just shoes Haney was overrated

Staring to think that Haney may be similar to Plant. Discipline, sharp, talented boxer but the lack of power is the only thing holding them back. Impressive resume but that fight showed why 47 may be tough sledding for Haney as far as effective power

Ryan dropped him *5 times. There I fixed the title.

The main reason that I never got on board with Haney is that I found him too technical. He’s a quality technician but I wasn’t convinced he had the full package. He’s got a lot of heart though. Stayed calm and did well to survive the fight whilst boxing concussed. I haven’t seen any of García’s pre fight antics. Based on what he does in the ring though he’s a weird guy. He does things that make no sense based on what’s happening in the fight. It’s like whichever Ryan gets hold of the blood flow and oxygen in the brain just does his own thing and then 30 seconds later there’s an urge to do something completely different apropos to nothing. He did say in the post fight interview that he has ADHD though so maybe that’s why.

While I want to agree with you I feel like we also have to ask the question --> would Haney have been able to absorb the left hooks? If he kept getting clipped by the same shots would the result have still been the same? And idk man. Haney was shook shook. Understand that the weight certainly played a role but Haney has been chin-light for his whole career.

It was being drained due to the cut that he blamed for his loss to Tank, was it not? Garcia came in to this fight MUCH stronger than he should have been. I have long said that if a fighter fails to make weight it should be treated the same as if he tested +ive for PEDs & the fight should be called off. Boxing is dangerous enough as it is without this BS being allowed to happen.

My point is that boxers should not have the option to pay a fine; they should HAVE to make weight or pay a fine AND face a ban. Garcia would not have had the degree of power that he did if he'd been forced to make weight but, as usual, money is far more important than the well being of the fighters & it is just sheer good luck that Haney wasn't badly hurt but other fighters will not be as lucky.

Thank u for your commentary sir. I admired your honest break down of this fight. My opinion is that the superior fighter won. My other opinion is that the referee was obviously and ridiculously biased. This was too unsual a performance against a referee who is seen to be fair and should be seriously repremanded. It seemed like the referee wanted to give Haney every chance to recover and to win, unfairly. In this sense, Ryan was lucky not to be a victim. I also think that Ryan was deliberately compassionate and was not overtly eager to embarrass a man whom he knew he had beaten on all counts. Keep up your good work, sir.

So far the upset of the year for so many called “experts” , I wasn’t surprised to be honest! Haney is better skillwise but Ryan has faster handspeed , which is extremely dangerous when you have the power to go with it. Now I wonder who’s gonna be fighting for the vacant Belt!?🤔 I’ve always thought Ryan belongs with the Elites of the division, but I can relate why boxing fans or even other Elites don’t even take him serious. Haney's simply not a physically gifted or strong fighter. He lacks punching power and hasn't got the legs or chin to survive in the ring against fighters with power , especially ones who know how yo close distance on opponents. Haney's overall performance VERY disappointing!!! Can Ryan become a better, more DISCIPLINED fighter? If he does , he can be competitive for a few more years, but even with Derrick James as his trainer, he has a very amateurish style of boxing. However, he appears to be very strong and punches very hard.

Garcia is a cheat & Haney is a fool - he should have refused to fight when Garcia failed to make weight.
