All these new eyes in the media and fans want to come offer their expertise in a league that they know very little about and want to be louder than the ones who know the history of the WNBA and not just Caitlyn Clark, Angel and the rest of this rookie class. Ryan you are a voice of reason that I appreciate . I am a 70 year old sports mom, who only has sons. So sports viewing was and still is a major part of my life. I watch the male and female sports, basketball, football and soccer and track, being my favorites. You guys made intelligent and thoughtful comments. Women play just as hard as the men. They are aggressive, competitive and smart athletes as they should be. Fouls, hard fouls and tussles are expected and appreciated. People need to remember these young ladies are athletes not just women or LGBTQ. There was one comment I did not agree with. Many new white WNBA spectators are vocally complaining about how Caitlyn is treated so aggressively. They did not complain about Angela Reese being clotheslined, which has a greater chance of causing serious injury. I believe if women player’s and retirees’ opinions were given a bigger platform when speaking about the women’s game, people would realize there is not that much difference. They are athletes who want to win. Keep up the good work. 🙏🏾

SAS and Charles Barkley are making me nauseous with there takes and advice to the women in the WNBA. It's not written in stone that the players are suddenly going to get endorsements and higher pay. It is what it is...whiteness matters. I am 65 yrs old Black woman that has been watching the WNBA since LeBron won his first championship with the Miami Heat. Once the season was over I was desperate for more basketball and started tuning in to watch the women. So I'm more than pissed about CC's coverage. Angel Reese deserves some positive coverage as well. She's a champion! Here team defeated CC's team. 😅

You’re spot on. The attention paid to Caitlin has been remarkable, fueled by social media and good play by the Iowa team. I have to laugh at the consternation about the hard fouls; as the W commissioner said, she-and other rookies-are experiencing their expected welcome to league moments. One thing that doesn’t seem to get mentioned often is that Caitlin is no shrinking violet. She’s highly competitive and aggressive, which is desirable in elite athletes. She is well known here in Iowa for her mouth and frequent grousing at officials. She’s had some rocky games. Big deal. I really appreciated what you three said today. I don’t think you’d find very many W players who would disagree with your thoughts.

I like you Ryan have paid attention to WNBA players, a lot of them since the Comets; H-Town native here, but yeah the folks that have been covering the W for many many years should be getting the air time and talking the most and new comers should yield to them cause while yes the NBA has been supporting the W financially that's outside of this context. Great take fellas. Also I started following/watching WNBA because of how physical they are being a 80s baby. I don't want them fighting and abusing each other but I don't want a whistle every time someone flops or nobody can hand check on defense but offense can push off all day.

There have never been so much divisiveness in the league. This division is being brought into by outsider that have never followed the league to thosr who have followed the league for an insignificant time. Unfortunately, too many people are trying to profit off the WNBA through divisivetactics. It's long overdue, the WNBA needs to leas the representation of their league. Great podcasr guys. Three different perspective. However, the last speaker hit the nailef on the head. The league needs to be represented by people that know the WNBA. Not just know certain players, or have some knowledge of WNBA, or people just trying to make money from a podcast.

Not all commentary/coverage is good coverage. The attention is good. "With great power comes great responsibility" is a perfect quote here. Some folks are squandering their power/platforms. The acknowledgment that you didn't follow it is important. Folks are trying to say what it is when they haven't followed it. Ryan got it right. Allow the people who have been I'm that space. SAS says women should have supported the WNBA while also refusing to be open to the perspectives of women who have been in that space the whole time. He is still new to it. Being humble and acknowledging that fact is important. This short clip had layers.

The difference is Clark. A year ago the conversation was why the WNBA is losing money, how the rims should be lowered, and how the pay gap between NBA and WNBA players was so wide. And that was WITH the Briannas, Sabrinas and A'jas of the world playing lights out. At that same exact time the discussion was about the explosion in popularity of the NCAA Women's Tournament, and it was all about one person leading the charge, one person who shot the ball like Steph Curry and was on the precipice of breaking the all-time scoring record for both men AND women, and that one person was Caitlin Clark. The majority of America didn't know who Angel Reese was until the last 53 seconds of the NCAA Final when she mocked the most popular (not the best) women's basketball player on the planet. Angel's right in that it was that moment that women's basketball became a part of the national dialogue, but it wasn't because of her basketball skills, it was because of the attitude she showed. Now in the WNBA if you look at the attendance and sales, it's still Clark driving the narrative, doing something which all the great ones before her couldn't - get eyes on the game. Doesn't matter if she is white (Breanna Stewart is white and arguably a better baller than Clark at this moment), she's got the "it" factor that makes her marketable to the masses, an "it" factor that Angel doesn't have because she's not a prolific scorer, she doesn't do highlight logo 3-pointers, and she's always making it about herself and not the game, which is what Clark does. When the spotlight is at its brightest, Clark shines it on the game, and Angel shines it on herself. She'll never reach the heights of Clark until she adjusts her perspective. Maybe that's good for the game to remain relevant, maybe it's bad for how the masses perceive women (I keep hearing "jealous," a term never used on male athletes), but anyone arguing it's not just Clark are delusional.

I think people are still missing the point. I look at them and ask can they hoop? If they can hoop then I watch. It is basketball. The narrative that people just started watching is wrong. People have their agendas in this country, but at the end of the day it about basketball. ESPN is the worst place to go to get real context about what is happening. They are just a bunch of trumpet blowers.

One black man says Caitlin Clark is being treated like "delicate flowers" . Another stated on a podcast, Clark is just having "dust ups" with other WNBA players. These "dust-ups" include elbows and punches to her throat, her head, her chest and ear, causing thsi "de;icate flower' to bleed on the court. Thankfully, there are numerous black male athletes and legends that want these hard shits to stop. These male black athletes represent the best of America at a time when we really need them to.

They keep Drama going and keep people divided. The guys in the media are horrible and they are too emotional and caught up in their feelings and they are too sensitive. I want to hear the women report on the WNBA, they report on the sport for the Love of the Sport.

Looking at the big picture, I think the best thing happening to the W is them making dumb mistakes. I honestly don't disagree with SAS's point, I THINK his ego got in the way of the message he was trying to deliver. But honestly, the best thing is for them to keep making these dumb mistakes because it opens a path for people wanting to hear the actual pros. The way I look at it is when SAS made dumb takes regarding Donald Cerrone's performance against Conor McGregor. After that, I have not seen SAS comment that much on UFC or MMA.

@@ballershanelle what does WNBA stand for? Womens NATIONAL basketball association. That should give you a clue. the Fifa World Cup (soccer), the ICC World Cup (cricket) is a global competition which is why the winners are declared WORLD CHAMPIONS. The WNBA is a domestic competition as all 12 franchises are located in the US. It doesnt matter how many players from overseas player. it is and i repeat for those in the back a DOMESTIC league. You dont see Manchester City (soccer) of the English Premier League (EPL) declare themselves WORLD CHAMPIONS because they won the EPL. They won the domestic league. Then they play in the UEFA Champions League against teams from other countries IN Europe who also won their DOMESTIC leagues. Manchester won the Champions League last year but they still were not WORLD CHAMPIONS, They were EUROPEAN Champions. The best the NBA and WNBA can claim is NORTH AMERICAN champions because the Raptors (NBA) are in Canada. This just show how ignorant Americans are and think no other country exists beyond their borders. The Aces have never played a team in Mexico, UK, Russia etc. They play against other US teams so they are domestic champions. Noah Lyles was right!!!

RC never said that he kept pace with the W as a whole as it relates to it's intricacies. One can say for certain he knows basketball, the game. Rules of play, the game, is the same, men or women. In addition, clearly he's aware of the players who gained national recognition as he name several. RC is a highly- skilled athlete and an intellect. He said than " men" should parse through the conversations more responsibly regarding the W looking to the Women who cover the sport. It is mostly men putting out divisive commentary and it's reckless and irresponsible. Men podcasters, mainstream male analyst and the like. RC was 100% accurate with his take!!!!!

Its amazing how you guys have never support women athletes but yet women have always supported you male athletes...ummm oh interesting, hence, why female athletes have been short change in every aspect when it comes financially in sports the media who are run by MEN sadly didn't see the value in the sport until "Caitlin Clark" and the rookie (Angel Reese, Cameron Brink etc.) class came. How sad because the media missed out on many greats that I grew up watching like Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoops, Tina Thompson, Lisa Leslie, Rebbeca Lobo, Chamiqua Holdslaw, Sylvia Fowles, Tamika Catchings, Candace Parker, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore etc the list is long and all these women who help lay the foundation of the WNBA were sadly robbed of many great financial opportunities. Unfortunately that is the history of many women all across the globe, missed opportunities in a patriarchal society.

The growth is about Caitlin Clark. No Caitlin, no growth. The few solely pro-Black WNBA fans are not enough to keep the league afloat. If Caitlin had stayed her final year at Iowa instead of entering the WNBA draft, even with Angel Reese in the draft, there would be no buzz around the WNBA - just slow business as usual. I say this not to be mean. I say this to my people, Black people, so that they can understand that Caitlin is not the enemy - she is the best thing that could have EVER happened to all of the Black WNBA players currently in the league. Without Caitlin it is unlikely that Aja Wilson would have gotten a Nike shoe contract this year, if ever. Caitlin brought the spotlight to the league. So, these Black fellas in this video have to stop talking as if it was going to happen anyway - with or without Caitlin. It was not!!!!!

If it wasn't for the men talking about the WNBA there wouldn't be ANY conversations about the WNBA... So no they're not fumbling the conversation. We need to stop coddling because they're women. The WNBA is in the same conversation as the UFL, Canadian Football etc. They're not interesting enough for us to watch. Jump shots and layups are not fun to watch but consistent Steph Curry 3's like Caitlin is doing is.. And stop blaming men. If these women can't promote, market and make their game exciting then they will fall to wayside like any other struggling sport
