  • @NightsAroundaTable

    It took me 8 hours to play solo! That obviously won’t be your experience… i was trying to be entertaining and keep all the rules in my head at the same time. The big expansion reminds me of the Alchemists expansion, in that it takes something that is difficult to accomplish in the base game and makes it more possible, so you end up seeing a lot more of the game, if that makes sense? There are high level tricks that are tough to manage in the base game, but Dahlgaard’s Academy puts them in closer reach. It also gives you a strategy to pursue that isn’t entirely wrapped up in performing at the theatre. Ryan's Magical Birthday Trickerion Stream: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZGRprriQdZutoLw.html

    Amazing! Now, it’s hardly a euro, so don’t go in expecting it to be mechanically tight. It’s just a good time. And don’t wait to incorporate the expansion - it’s more of a patch than anything.

    @@NightsAroundaTable Yes - I’ve heard the expansion is necessary to fix things, namely short trading routes, I think. Also would like to play solo. Excited to play! Also put Anachrony, Distillers and Sea of Legends on my “to look for” list. 👍

    @@ryanconover1585 It fixes many issues, one of which is an exploit in the first game where you can luck into an arrangement where one planet produces a resource that another planet needs, and they end up right next to each other, and you can just ping-pong back and forth collecting and shipping goods and reach the victory condition quickly and easily (and boringly). In Embers, there's a supply/demand economy pentagon thing that makes that impossible. Goods are in limited supply, and once you use up the supply, you have to visit other planets to produce more.

    After watching this video I'm really curious about Sea of Legends. Generally, i don't like games that require an app, but it sounds like this one might be worth checking out. I also don't like co-ops, or specifically co-ops where you're fighting against some random engine that is meant to beat you down. I like co-ops that are based around limited communication, though.

  • @NightsAroundaTable

    @NightsAroundaTable

    Жыл бұрын

    This one's more like Catan: Cities & Knights in its co-opness... there's a non-player bunch of baddies, and if you don't help stop them, you lose. But you can also individually win. So you're contributing to the greater good only to advance your own agenda. It's selfish co-op. It's co-opetitive.

    So that’s one potential drawback to the game: its play length can be pretty elastic. If you don’t properly manage the NPC factions, the game could be over quickly as you get overrun. So the worse you play, the shorter the game is. :)

Mostly because the general buzz and response to that game has been higher than Sea of Legends, and also you had a huge hand in me backing that game to begin with because your how to play of Dead Reckoning was brilliant! BTW, if you want another trek back to Monkey Island, get the latest game that was recently released. It's fantastic!
