I've gone from wanting a 7800XT to a 4070 to a 4070 Super to a 4070 Ti Super. This is wild seeing the 7800 neck and neck or exceeding the 4070 Ti Super in some games. Now I'm conflicted again and it's hurting my brain. First PC build.

I saw a benchmark with the 4070ti super and the 4080. The 4070ti was just 10-12 FPS behind in a lot of games. If you have the money for a 4070ti super then I would buy that and overclock it. 12gb cards is a no no. There's so many things that is eating away at the vram, even more so with frame generation being normalised, and even more so going forward.

7800xt is for budget friendly people who want to use the card for 3~5 years down the line. If you're gaming that 450$ investment isn't worth it. But if you have money to burn. Good luck. 👍

@@uglytoad285 Exactly. You can upgrade and upgrade put more and more money into a build but the question is what the price to performance is and how much are you willing to spend. Out of the newest radeon and rtx cards 7800xt is the best value in its bracket. (yes you can get rx 7600 or something for less but it wont last you as long and good luck playing new AAA releases at max settings 1440p with a playable FPS). If you have money and want the best just get that rtx 4090 what is there even to cosider. Same, if you want to have the lowest possible cost of PC then honestly why are you even considering a new build. Just get some used last gen PC and it will be better value 9/10 times.

Check the GPU fan speed + temperature + power usage. The 7800xt is running colder with lower RPM on the fan (much less noise) while using less power. The 4070Ti Super is faster but also uses more power, it's much more noisy and much more expensive.

actually the 4070 is more power efficient. nvidia retook the efficiency lead this generation. coming from a 7900xtx owner. but AMD wins in rasterization at every price point they sell. they lack in RT and power efficiency. but i dont care about RT, so i got the 7900xtx. blows through every game i play in 4k

4070 Ti Super in Europe is 869-889€ in several countries (Germany, Spain, France ....)

I always had Nvidia GPU's since decades. Bought a 7800XT for lower than 600$, very happy with it. I don't care about ray tracing in general and new AMD driver (FSM3) keep improving. Not saying Nvidia is inferior, they are not, but I am tired of Nividia GPU segmentation and prices. AS a consumer and player, I won't switch back to nvidia till they make better GPU's than (even 10% better) at same price.

thats an old issue on the 7800x3d and am5 boards. most of the vcore voltage spiking is already fixed through bios updates.

You are right. But in the near future games will not work correctly if allocated vram is not above a certain value. You can already see that Forspoken, Last of us and others. They stutter and/or don't load the correct textures if allocated vram is limited. Even if they are using vram below the graphics limit. And don't pay attention to the naysayers. unless youre running the same scene in an online server, youre going to have different FPS with the FPS shown here. the FPS you get on palworld differs per area, the amount of pals around you also affects the FPS, and playing on single player or multiplayer will have different FPS. This was tested on an online rented server.

Basically if you have a hole in your pocket, Nvidia is waiting for you

All of them pretty much. Like this moment I’m playing palworld 1440 pm and yours is about 100fps on the 7800xt I’m sitting comfortably at 139 sometimes bounces up to 145 fps… I did undervolt…. Not over clock but actually decrease the voltage in my GPU and have SAM ENABLED to put more work on the processor and Ram

Way I see it, 7800xt is INFINITELY better value for money. FSR is improving and you get get frame gen too. If youll spend almost double the money for a 4070ti super, just throw another 100 and get yourself a 7900 XTX. Boils down on your play settings. You play with raster only? Get the 7800xt. Its cheaper and trades blow with the 4070s in terms of raster perf. Playing with RT enabled? Go with the 4070 super. Its a bit more expensive but has better RT performance.

Go with the 4070s if you play with raytracing but if you play without RT go with the 7800xt. But i have to ask where are you from? This is the first time ive heard the 7800xt and 4070 super having the same price. Its usually the 7800xt cheaper between the two.

In Russia, 4070tis costs $ 1000, and 7800xt costs $600

the only RX card worthy at the moment is the 7900XTX i have had mine since Oct. the thing is i don't really polay many games on it, i bought it more or less for video upscaling but i haven't even really been using it for that lately

So a 4070ti going around 900-1000$ in Philippines. And around 750-850€ in europe. Knowing that in France it's 980€ for the fastest profile. And 770€ for the 7900XT I think the answer is pretty clear. Oh my bad that's the 4070ti super. That's worse than I've expected. So yeah the card definitely cost more than the 7900XTX is almost every place in France 💀 terrible value.

You're using the 7800 XT Hellhound (the same card I have), and it's clear from the test that you're using the quiet bios and not the OC bios, the core clock is around 2300Mhz, which is low for a 7800 XT. Using the OC bios on mine gives me a very stable +2600Mhz core clock and a healthy performance boost, and I can get even more performance by overclocking to around 2800Mhz and also undervolting. I'm currently using a 1050mV with a core clock of 2750Mhz and power limit set to -10, it's a 15% FPS boost in most game and even more in others. That closes the gap between it and the 4070 Ti Super, which is a more expensive card (talking about rasterization of course). The Hellhound model is a beast in cooling, acoustics and performance, I'm really glad I bought it.

Im using the OC bios here. OC bios of the card doesnt really overclock the clock speeds. Its more of a fan setting to cater to overclocked speeds. OC mode = faster fans to have thermal headroom for boost. Silent = Slower fans for a more quiet use. Check powercolor's description of the switch. www.powercolor.com/product?id=1668745231

I just replace 4070oc with 4070 super oc. what a difference. now 4070 ti super is bit expensive for my liking. 4070 super is 2K gaming king! to bad that 7900XT which i replaced with 4070 oc after 6 days is power hungry running hot and loud. just to much for me.

Look at the 1% of both cards in that scene. If the game allocates more vram/RAM, which is more than it actually uses, it could also lead to less stuttering. This is not actual usage...

4070 ti super is far better than amd 7800xt. Better gaming quality, doesn't drop frames randomly like amd, doesn't have stupid garbage driver updates like amd and so on. Ask me how I know lol. I'll never purchase garbage amd products again. My main pc was a 7950x cpu and 7900xtx but is now switched out to a intel 14900k and a 4090. Intel pc obliterates the trash amd pc. Sooo much smoother, more fps, and way more reliable

Ive had nothing but stutters and fps drops with my 7800xt 7800x3d build. Purchased a 4070ti super today to help with my stability issues. Almost got a 7900xtx instead but Im happy I decided not to

Bad comparison. Some games with Ultra RayTracing and DLSS|FSR and some without RT at all. Don't do that.

AMD was boasting themselves as gaming cards but they can't even work for gaming properly even the higher tier cards cant perform well with 2k,4K and ray tracing like Nvidia cards do🤦

nvidia is just way ahead in terms of RT performance. on raster performance i'd say they trade blows.

Yeah cause the 7800xt is clearly on par with the 4070 super on starwars, an amd optimized game, with ray tracing enabled. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eaJlsLJspLLdYKg.html Nvidia still outperforms amd on ray tracing i mean just look the spec sheets. Radeon cards have literally lower RT cores. But amd is slowly getting at par not to mention they have amazing price to performance ratio.

@out42c and your point by adding your videos is? Btw. Your using fixed scaling method which is basically upscaling if you have different native res and game resolution while i have scaling mode to off on my testing. So comparing my video with urs is pointless.

Down vote because this comparison should have been done with a memory OC'd 7900 GRE.

I ve got to say this... price to performance ratio doesnt mean shiit, if the card cant run certain game in decent quality, people buy cards that are more expensive but stronger in tech, gamers buy shit so they can play their fav games... thats it
