Agreed - that seems to be where the 5600M is really going to shine, it would be up against 1650 Ti laptops in most cases and as we can see here, it can beat the 1660 Ti,

In Germany there are only 2 options: the "Budget"-Version (4600H, 8GB, 512GB) costs ~$1120 while the MAX-Option, which is showing in the Video, costs ~$1456 --> its completly overpriced, cause the ASUS TUF A15 with 4800H, 8GB, RTX 2060 also starts at $1120€ (and it already was in sale for ~$1064....)

@@samueldouglas9698 I've been holding out for a 4900H & RX 5700M laptop setup. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll happen, and now RDNA2 is around the corner. Given games and such are going to be optimized for RDNA2 due to consoles, I think RDNA2 is going to age like fine wine. It's also a new architect, so I'm just going to hold out for a few more months. I'm just itching to pull the trigger, especially since my current laptop is from 2013 and my desktop is much newer. I can't play but like maybe 5% of my games in my laptop in uber low settings.

Woahh a good video regarding a comparison of gpu. Speaking of the gpu in laptops, will you do a video that covers the nvidia gpu cards in their development in 2020, it is said that the 2019 version of rtx 2060 in laptops are very different to the 2020 rtx 2060 version so a comparison of the two gpu with the same processor is deeply appreciated

Wow, AMD is just killing it!! It can go head to head against its biggest rivals (Intel and Nvidia) and in some cases (or even most cases), can beat it. All this for cheaper price. This is how competition should be!!

The video i was looking for, indeed very close in term of performance but the prices of both laptops clearly show how much more value the 5600M has to offer

The sub $1k g5 se seems like a pretty good deal imo.

Go with ryzen 4600 or 4800 h . Its way better than intel. 1650 is sufficient

Hi Jarrod. Thank you for all the hard work and I really love seeing your laptop comparison videos. I was wondering if you could get your hands on the MSI Alpha 15 (4800H + 5600M) model, I do not believe MSI has a 4600H + 5600M yet in the market, and pit that against the DELL G5 SE (as it's the only other 5600M laptop in the market)? Would love to see if the new "Alpha" is able to beat the much cheaper DELL G5 SE (4600H + 5600M) in raw gaming FPS.

One suggestion i like to give that keep the processors locked at their base speeds by this way smart-shift gets disabled and comparisons will become more gpu bound and the comparison will become more interesting...... sub from India 🇮🇳

It's worth remembering that as games become more demanding to run then unless you constantly buy new machines to keep up the smartshift option is really going to come into its own as settings get lowered.

Hello Jarrod, first i love your videos, you're my go-to youtuber for information about laptops. So I'm planning of buying a new laptop to use for uni and gaming and I can't decide if i need a raytracing GPU. 1660ti isn't much worse than a 2060 but is usually quite a lot cheaper. The only reason why i would want an RTX GPU is if i have this laptop for +5 years surely DLSS 2.0 will catch-up and nearly all newer games will have it, which could boost my fps in newer titles at that time. Do you think DLSS 2.0 will become a norm? I heard AMD is also working with something similar. So what do you think? Or should i wait for RTX 3000 series?

Really love your videos!!. When I was in a dilemma choosing between Dell G5se and HP Omen 15 you came as a saviour. Though rx5600m is leading in many cases, the difference between the avg and 1% low fps's in the amd gpuis really big compared to the gtx 1660ti, that may lead to unstable gameplay. Will this be solved with further driver updates or is this too insignificant to be taken into account?

Are you planning on doing a review/comparison of the G5 15 5500 against the 5505? It would be interesting to see how the Intel counterpart of the G5 15 SE competes against the all AMD version, as well as if the thermals are any different. I've yet to see any video on the G5 15 5500 from anyone, so it would be very helpful!

Not at the moment, I bought the AMD G5 x2 with my own money because there is interest, however no one has asked for Intel G5 so I will just wait and see if they offer review units months from now. Based on past G5 Intel machines, it will run at 100c too.

That’s way closer than I thought as well. Do you know when the 120Hz panel is going to be in the 4600H model? I’m currently looking at that spec, since I am on a budget and need a 1080p/60 FPS ultra gaming and great photo editing screen.

Don't get max q anything it's a total ripoff. The 2070 max q barely outperforms the 2060 and 1660 ti

Jarrod, I heard many people 'solved' the thermal problems on G5 by disabling boost completely. Could you perhaps do a quick test or 2 to see what the effect of that would be on the framrates?

but he did disable boost in his G5 thermal testing, CPU was still reaching 95 degrees in Watchdogs 2 and GPU was reaching 85.

Are you going to do a review on Lenovo Legion 5?

Hi Jarrod! I had lower performance when using latest 446.14 for my mobile RTX 2060. Several users also reported the same. Currently, 445.98 Hotfix is the best for me. If you have time, maybe you can try to check performance between these drivers.

On the Dell Australia website, the 4800H model is on sale for only $70 more than the 4600H model right now. 100% worth the extra money IMO.

The display on the Asus tuf looks really bad. You would need to connect it to a monitor to play heavy graphics games. Otherwise it's actually painful to look at for me. Not exxagerating.

Are you going to do a review on vapor 15x with the new rtx 2060 115 W, Really wondering what the thermals are like on it.

Would love to see a test showcasing performance differences with SmartShift. More CPU intensive benchmarks, etc putting the 4800H against each other. I'd assume the SS 4800H is 10-15% more powerful. SmartShift laptop will always be more powerful than a laptop without.

the low setting is an indication, if you noticed most of the low settings games have better performance on the 5600m laptop, because it looks like the 4800H there is doing more due to smart shift. Edit: it is mentioned in the video i did not notice at first.

Maybe, honestly I wasn't going to make it because it felt a bit like spam after all the other A15 videos, there will be some brief results in the full review.

I hope we see a comparison of the R7 4800h VS R5 4600H in games and tests, as well as laptops with these processors and the same graphics card. Interesting to know if there is an advantage of 8 cores over 6, it seems to me that the advantage will be minimal, and everything will rest more on the video card than on the processor.

When will you review the new Lenovo Legion 5?

Can you review Lenovo new Legion 5i, 1650 base model? I think it looks fairly good mainly due to its 80wh battery life

I just built a setup using a 5600 XT (MSI's OC Mech version, Mem Bitrate @ 14Gbps, standard Mem clock 1750 MHz post BIOS update) and the Ryzen 5 3600X - and it runs RDR2 with most settings at Ultra, save a few volumetric options. I mention it because performance was super lackluster until I put a single fan infront of the GPU - turns out it was being choked and I never thought it would effect frame rates like it did. I don't see this GPU, even the mobile version or whatever, working in a laptop. Been loving it as a desktop though.

Will you review the Latest Lenovo Legion 5?

the 50W 5600M with 8GB HBM2 inside the Macbook Pro 16 is a mobile GPU beast. Almost on par with mobile RTX 2060 at half the TDP. Hope to see more similar GPU preferably RDNA2 coming to laptops soon

@Jarrod'sTech As far as I know there is an embedded graphic card in Ryzen's cpu and I was wondering G5 with rx5600m would give higher results if we enable crossfire option only if the game supports crossfire option of course. Have you ever been able to test it? At first sight I just started to think about it :)

Dell G5 SE is not available in my country. So I think I will be stuck with A15 for now. Unless, the Acer upcoming models with Predator and Nitro line-ups will be more cost-efficient with decent performance or on par with Asus' current line-up.

I'm deciding on the Lenovo Legion Y540 (1660Ti) or this new Dell G5 SE, both similar specs and pricing so its a headache choosing, a good problem to have I guess.

By the way, unlocking the rx5600m makes it basically 2060. The same story was with the 5500m. Laptop manufacturers just keep limiting the GPU. No need to OC, just unlock it via more power tool and let Radeon software actually undervolt and oc it on it's own, and enjoy the free %15 performance gains.

Once Again a really good informative video. I have to say im a bit disappointed with the Dell G5 SE, by the marketing and what people was commenting about the 5600M would be on the same level of the 2060 and even reach the 2070 in certain scenarios. maybe i expected too much. I was thinking to buy an A15 or a GE se but buy your comparisons the A15 with the 2060 surpasses the performance of the 5600M in every game while running cooler. and theres is no guarantee that with future drivers the situation is going to change. Both have some really major design flaws and drawbacks, its like pick your poison. do you want the Asus TUF with good performance and problematic screen or the DEll G5 SE that you can double it as a stove while youre gaming. RIght now im thinkins is better to spend a bit more and go for the MSI GL65/75. it costs more but doesnt suffer from the same problems Thanks again for your good work mate.

I'm a bit baffled as to why you would think that a laptop that is £830 would perform the same as one that is £1230. It makes no sense. I don't think AMD disappointed, I think you just had unrealistic expectations.

I wonder if 5600m was inside rog zephrus g15 instead of an rtx 2060 max q,the money saved could really help asus to deliver a fully metallic built laptop with thunderbolt (may be) ,a glass track pad and a better per key RGB keyboard for the same price,so can anyone tell me what may be the rough difference in pricing of 5600m and rtx 2060 super max q

is there a reason for testing all the games in all the settings presets? I mean, no offence, it obviously takes a lot of work, but wouldn't the end user just go for whatever preset gives the greatest eye candy at decent framerates? If something runs at 60+fps at high or ultra settings, is it not unlikely that that person would drop down some settings to get more frames, unless ofc were talking about comp shooters?

I'm just wondering If u could add warframe in there, PS4 to keyboard and mouse takes a lot of thinking given the budget

Warframe is easy to run. My old 940mx would run the game at 60fps all maxed settings at all time. These new powerful laptops wouldn't even break a sweat running it.

Jarrod'sTech Guess what man, I got my hands on the Acer Predator Helios 700 with i7-9750 full RTX 2080 (16GB RAM 2667MHZ) so far for me its a great desktop replacement overall thermals hover around 40c-63c on this games WARZONE (144-180+FPS), PUBG(115+FPS) APEX LEGENDS (250-300FPS), BLACK DESERT ONLINE: REMASTERED (100+FPS), and MONSTER HUNTER WORLD (115+FPS). I haven’t changed thermal paste, I want to reparte que grizzly thermal paste, oh another I didn’t even have to under-bolted 😁😍

Do the dell laptops still have problems with the fan control?

Hey, I recently bought a dell g5 se and I keep having a problem where the textures come out wrong on modern warfare and the laptop restarts by itself whilst playing. I was wondering if this is just a faulty laptop or if u have had this problem before or have any solutions.

Since the 5600m can use up to 15w more im curious to see how it would do against the 1660ti when it use the stock overclock the 1660ti has so we can get a true difference in performance if we were to buy these laptops

I have to pick the RX 5600M because that's what is in a Dell G5 with Ryzen 9 4900H that was ordered from Best Buy 2 days ago. This will be my very first Ryzen owned computer . The price was right for my pocketbook.
