I am an advocate for keeping cars original but I cant help but appreciate Nakais dedication and work to Porsches. 997 looks mad but awesome.

I am still in favour of keeping it original, I can't tell you how much it hurts me with the machine when it cuts and drills the wheel tops, especially when it is siliconised.

The fiberglass(?) portion of the front lip looks so thin. Like it's ready to explode into a million pieces at the slightest contact. Car looks wicked though. =)

Akira Nakai was a race car driver with wide tires porche, that's why he got famous for that in Japan and starts selling body kits

@@lewislevits1193 All of the RWBs in my country are owned by elites, one of them owns 3 McLarens. Hiring Nakai to work on your car with the bodykits costs more than all cars a normal guy can accumulate in his lifetime....

At this point it's not about quality, it's about exclusivity having him mod your car, he's more of an artist than anything else. People won't drive these rwbs much, it's more of an art piece, he doesn't do more than one per customer

Maybe some aircooled RWB Porsche look quite nice but the 997s just look odd as RWB widebody. At least the 997 is just a 997 so it’s not a loss.

I would like to see the fenders connected with exposed double lock seam. Instead of the tabs and rivets. Otherwise it’s all very cool

While I can appreciate his vision and contribution to customization, some of the stuff he does is total ghetto. Fan cutting the inner fender liners and hammering them flat, using urethane adhesive between the body panels as a blend, spray painting tires. I just think there is a more professional and appropriate way to approach this customization and still produce the final vision in a more quality way.

I always wonder how durable these builds are... Bare metal in the fender well, drilling holes, 'glueing' body parts together. Wouldn't drive them in the rain 😅

Well thats rough world racing.. name said it all.. it was never suppose to be fancy. The media and internet glamour turned it fancy. But thats not originally how it is was suppose to be. The cars are suppose to be driven and raced and not show cars. Thats why he holds his race in Japan every year for RWB cars.

Anyone knows what he is using 3:23?

I thought about this for my Carrera S, but like others have said it really not Porsche quality. If you look at Riddler winners the craftsman’s ship is phenomenal. What this guy can do in a few days is also phenomenal, but underneath it’s really crappy. If I were going to spend a hundred grand I would much rather do a Singer type clone on an older 911, or a Sports Classic clone. I can’t see that lasting if you use it much.

untreated metal will rust from drilling and cutting. He does this for every car, I'm sure some of them are already rusty at the places of work.
